Theyunderstand the field in great detail andhave strong networks, giving us confidencethat their proposals reflect the state-of-the-art and are reliable and sound. Theyare a pleasure to work with. ~ Operational Excellence Manager3-day energy & decarbonisation survey appraisingexisting ideas, plans, adding alternativeapproaches and concepts.Initial feasibility into heat decarbonisation via anovel electrification approach.Funding support opportunities, linked to CapExcycles. Opportunities into Low Moor ‘Clean Growth Hub’as part of the Bradford Manufacturing FuturesLIDP (Local Industrial Decarbonization Plan)Project. Net Zero Growth PlanApplying its successful ‘Cogs and Roots’approach, CR Plus, via a detailed focus on Cog 2Fuel Switching during the initial 3-day surveyphase, appraised existing opportunities forfuture Hydrogen and added new concepts intothe mix for partial heat electrification. Asubsequent phase then investigated further afirst step of heat electrification, focused on oneparticular plant, to form a specific projectopportunity. Such heat decarbonisation projectscarry higher technical and commercialchallenges, therefore CR Plus also identified inPhase 2 options for funding support. Finally, CR Plus took the fuel switching conceptsfurther by linking them to broader Low MoorClean Growth Hub (Cog 3) spatial opportunitiesand plans. This activity included facilitating thesharing of ideas and opportunities at a multi sitelevel and pro-active engagement and discussionwith regional infrastructure stakeholders, allgeared around linking a practical site basedproject/s to higher level infrastructure plansand ultimately the Bradford industrial clusterplan. © CR Plus Ltd, 2024The Solenis plant in Bradford primarilyproduces polymers and flocculants forwastewater treatment in a variety of heavyindustrial markets, including municipal, pulp andpaper and mineral processing. The Solenis Low Moor facility relieson gas-fired CHP and boilers for power and heat(steam). CR Plus, as the technical partner for BMF,visited in early 2024 to identify, with Solenis, viable decarbonisation pathways to eliminate thenatural gas dependence and to link these optionsto wider infrastructure and neighbour siteopportunities. SolutionIn 2024, CR Plus visited fellow partner site Solenis aspart of the Bradford Manufacturing Futures project(Local Industrial Decarbonisation Plan partly fundedby Innovate UK, UKRI). A 3-day survey (Phase 1)identified multiple options for heat decarbonisationand a follow on initial feasibility (Phase 2) to betterinvestigate a heat electrification project. By linkingthese opportunities to the wiser Low Moor CleanGrowth Hub, CR Plus and Solenis pursued findingthe most viable route to decarbonising production;optimising the cost and requirements for local andregional infrastructure.
