A MESSAGE FROM MYRON This semester presented our team with many changes and challenges Every one of our team members stepped up and gave 100 to make sure that our students faculty and staff had an amazing experience even in the midst of the COVID 19 pandemic From providing meals to students in quarantine to producing a stunning and socially distanced MYRON BRIDGES Thanksgiving feast the ESU GENERAL MANAGER dining team is better than ever before We are listening carefully to student requests and while we are not always perfect much improvement has been made We are hearing great feedback from students and our social media engagement continues to increase The implementation of masks plexiglass screens social distanced dining Grab Go meals online reservations and mobile ordering are all new services this semester that have been put in place for the safety of our employees and customers alike We are spreading smiles even through the masks ESU DINING PAGE 3

NEW THIS SEMESTER GRAB GO Grab Go stations were created as an option for those students without a reservation for the Nest in a hurry to get to class or those who desire to remain out of localized areas of people Each student received a reusable to go container at the beginning of the semester to use for Grab Go as well as to help us reduce our waste in the process SAFER SERVICE This semester many changes were implemented in order to help keep all of our guests and employees safe A few of these changes include masks and plexiglass panels used to help restrict the spread of germs In the Nest self service stations were converted to served stations Individual packaging was used at the salad bar condiment station and to safely serve a variety of toppings and sides not featured at our served stations GRUBHUB To limit the amount of time our customers spend in line as well as decrease crowding at retail locations Grubhub was implemented this semester Students have the ability to order from both the on campus Starbucks as well as Hornet Express through the Grubhub app Students would then be notified to when their order was ready and come to the retail location to pick it up FACULTY FRIDAYS This semester faculty and staff were able to enjoy Grab Go meals for only 7 every Friday We launched this initiative in order to bring additional attention to the Grab Go stations as well as make sure that our faculty on campus had a convenient and safe meal option The Infor reservation system was used to allow students to make reservations for meals in the Nest This allowed us to ensure that social distancing was taking place as well as allowing time for table and chair sanitation between each use ESU DINING PAGE 4

WHY EVERYONE IS DOING YOGA AND YOU SHOULD TOO FALL SURVEY RESULTS Overall score 78 High scoring areas Staff friendliness and cleanliness Low scoring areas Menu variety and weekly menu options We were aware of our low areas this semester which we attribute primarily to the changes made due to the COVID 19 pandemic The pandemic did limit the variety of meals that we would normally offer We will use these results to make adjustments for next semester Congratulations to Chase Eklund for being this semester s survey prize winner ESU DINING PAGE 6

MARKETING SOCIAL MEDIA Staying Safe Shouldn t Be Boring This semester we increased the amount of events in the Nest while maintaining social distancing and sanitizing all seating areas before and after each guest We utilized several new tools including Linktree and Facebook Events to promote all of our dining activities We added pop up meal events in the Nest as well as increased our variety of dining events Students experienced a wide range of cuisines through the Philadelphia and Austin Texas Cityscapes events and the Passport to Asia meal We celebrated seasonal flavors during our fall themed meal and at our Thanksgiving feast All of these events were held in addition to our normal Let s Dish Thursdays national food days Mindful Wednesdays and our monthly winning dish day which the students vote on through social media All events can be viewed in the monthly dining calendars Students have easy access to the menu nutritional GOALS STRATEGIES Increase Dining Events Utilize Stories Promote through Facebook Events Increase Student Engagement Add Links in Bio information and are able to provide us feedback on their dining experience through the Bite app We look forward to continuing to serve Emporia State in the Spring LAST YEAR ESU DINING THIS YEAR PAGE 11

STARBUCKS IN THE MEMORIAL UNION FOR SALE We know our students love coffee so we decided to sell coffee presses safe for use in the dorms WINITWEDNESDAY COFFEE DAY This semester students had We celebrated National the chance to answer Coffee Day this semester questions on social media with buy one get one half for a chance to win off all handcrafted Starbucks merchandise beverages Meet Katherine Starbucks Store Brand Manager I am fortunate enough to have an extraordinary team This semester we have worked to increase the sanitation for the safety of our guest We have also reduced the amount of contact we have with personal items or things you are purchasing While we do miss guests relaxing and creating memories in the store we still do our part to make sure everyone leaves with a smile on their face My staff has done all of this with enthusiasm and having an amazing attitude None of this would be possible without them ESU DINING PAGE 13
