Social Media Posting PlannerSocial Media Marketing is an integral digital marketing strategy. If you are not utilising social media marketing within your marketing efforts you are missing a great opportunity to increase your brand awareness, traffic generation, social proof, brand authority… the list goes on and on. However, is there any point in posting on social media if you’re not being seen? Social media is a fierce and unforgiving battlefield with companies fighting for the attention of their target market. In order to give your content the best chance of being seen, it is imperative that you post on each social network at the optimum time……this is why we’ve created our Social Media Posting Planner. In this free template you will receive a weekly calendar for you to plan your social media posts for the top 4 networks (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn), already primed with the best times to post on each platform. But before you get stuck into the calendar, we’ve put together a brief outline of each network, including their biggest do’s and don’ts.FACEBOOK Let’s start with the giant of all social networks…. Facebook. The success of your Facebook posts is very much audience dependant, however, according to research, the best times to post on Facebook are during working hours throughout the working week, and in the morning (10-12am) on Saturday. Before you get carried away and schedule content to be posted every hour of the working day, be warned that a tactic like this will be penalised by Facebook. The social media giants prioritise their user’s experience, and as such, will penalise the reach of any profiles/pages that they deem to be spamming their audience. We recommend that you post no more than 3 times per day to achieve maximum audience exposure and engagement.
INSTAGRAMInstagram is currently one of the hottest social media platforms and is growing in importance for marketers, particularly those aiming at the 18-35 year old demographic.During the working week the best time to post is 6am (excluding Mondays), this is due to people waking up and checking their phones first thing in the morning. Other good times to post during the working week include lunch times as people browse through social media during their breaks, and in the evening around 8/9pm when everyone has some downtime. Weekends are not far off weekday engagement rates during the day, however they slump off during the evenings when people are often out enjoying themselves. You should aim to post 1-3 times a day on Instagram. The average of most major brands is 1.5 posts per day, so make sure you’re always posting at least once on Insta. And remember to prioritise quality over quantity, don’t post 3 times a day just for the sake of it. TWITTERThere are approximately 350,000 tweets sent every minute, so achieving high engagement rates on Twitter can be challenging. Timing is everything on Twitter as their newsfeed orders posts by time and date, meaning you could publish amazing content but if you tweet at the wrong time, nobody will see it. The best times to tweet are usually around lunchtime when most people are on their break and also towards the end of the working day. Twitter is a very active social media channel, so it's very important you stay active too. Unlike other social media platforms, we advise you to tweet more than 3 times a day in order to give your content the best chance of being seen and also to increase brand awareness. We recommend tweeting between 5 and 15 times a day depending on how much time you have to delegate towards social media. Don’t worry, not every tweet has to be a new piece of content, you can retweet relevant pieces of content you find on Twitter and also tweet old pieces of content that you have previously shared. The key is to stay active and post consistently in order to get your content seen, liked and retweeted.
LINKEDINFinally we come to LinkedIn. LinkedIn is a social network designed for the business community and is therefore busier during the working week. The best times to post are weekdays between 8 am and 6 pm. However, we can narrow that down even further. LinkedIn is most active during the middle of the week from Tuesday to Thursday. This is probably because workers have a lot to think about on Mondays (as they get back into their working routine) and are more engaged on other social networks as they approach the weekend. There are three periods of the day that users are most engaged on LinkedIn: • 7.30-9.30am (Start of work)• 12-2pm (Lunchtime)• 5-6pm (End of working day)Try to post in these periods (or just before) for maximum reach and engagement. We recommend posting on Linkedin between 1 and 3 times per day depending on how much content you create per week.CONCLUSIONHopefully you found this guide useful and you feel ready to combat the world of social media. Don’t worry about remembering the information in this guide, that's what the social media planner has been created for. Follow the planner and you will be dominating social media in no time.
