If someone judges and ridicules you, know this, it has nothing to do with who you are, but it has everything to who they are. They are showing you who they actually are. Believe them the first time only. Forgive and love them anyway, for they can only love and like others to the capacity they love and like themselves. Just forgive them and move on without them in your life. Help yourself be the best you can be with these self-help articles that help you understand what you need to do with your life and yourself. You do not need anyone’s permission to be YOU, you already are you, created by a higher source, way higher than any human. Who is the mere vessel of the creation. Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg. 3

The Japanese have a beautiful expression for this honest acknowledgement that true beauty is in the flawed, the perfection in the imperfection. Wabi sabi literally meaning finding beauty in imperfection – like a lotus flower, blooming from the deep mud below the surface. PERFECTION IN IMPERFECTION The French poet and Nobel Prize laureate Anatole France once said, “I cling to my imperfection as the very essence of my being”. It is amazing to think how much our values have changed in little over a century. You do not need to be perfect to start any creation, you just need to start and become perfect in your creations., FAIL LOADS AND ALWAYS FAIL FORWARD, FAIL MEANING IS First Attempt In Learning, Life, for all of us, is a mosaic of the brutal and beautiful. Yes every single human suffers this in their lives. And this is why I often cannot understand why some decide to focus on others imperfections as a curse to be held against the person they direct their judgements at. One realization I have come to, is those that judge others imperfections live in denial of their own, in fear of being judged. When we focus on others physical or emotional flaws, we are not letting them be who they are. We are judging them without knowing their situation, without knowing the right questions to ask that might get us closer to understanding their pain and suffering. People are not perfect. You are not perfect. Sometimes we make mistakes and there is nothing wrong with that. We are human, we make mistakes. It happens. I believe in forgiveness, healing and in understanding that we all have an inner wound that can't be fixed alone, so sometimes we lash out in anger as a result of trying to mask its existence. The greatest joys and sorrows in our lives may come from the same source, but sometimes it can seem like the joys are what sticks with us. The joy of learning, the joy of laughing with friends, we cannot forget about this because this is why we are here: for love, for compassion and for connection. Just love all who cross your path, you just do not know what they are going through. The world needs more love opposed to hateful & hurtful judgements. Written by Soar high Workshop. ACKNOWLEDGMENT: The “Love Language” You Never Knew Existed, or You NEEDED Through my work as a psychologist with people in therapy and through relationship coaching and consulting, as well as in my own experience, I have found that the ways we express love and the ways we need to be shown love are more intricate and detailed - as well as more specific to each person in that way - than the common 5 “love languages” that most people are familiar with. Due to varying past family patterns - or as I like to call them “training” - we not only have our authentic self and personality ways of loving and love needs, but also as we grew up, we were also “trained” in family pattern ways of loving and needs that we came to know as “Love.” Some of this training is positive and resonates authentically with us, but some of it does not. Even more so, needs to be untrained as it is not effective for us as the authentic adults we have grown to be or strive to become. I believe we all have, what I call, Ways of Loving and Love Needsⓒ that we actually NEED, not only to feel Loved, but also Seen, Heard, Respected, Connected, and most of all SAFE, in our intimate long-term relationships. I also believe that we also have additional Ways of Loving and Love Needs that we were taught and “trained” to DO and BE and sometimes are Expected, as they were in our family relationships. If we have past relationship experiences as well - then we have also been influenced by this “training” as well with regard to what we have experienced as “Love” and what it looks and feels like as adults. Depending on who we chose to be in a relationship with, some of this “training” may actually be and feel ‘ok’ to us or even amazing and sometimes contributed to our personal growth and as a result many positive interactions in our future relationships. However, some of this training was not healthy or effective. Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg. 8 for us personally and thus needs to be “un-trained” in order for us to have more effective, healthy connections in our relationships going forward. The key is to be able to recognize and make conscious decisions for ourselves as we move forward in our life and love relationships. When we can hone these down specifically to what we as Individuals need - and deserve to receive and feel - then we must learn to communicate and negotiate these needs within our chosen love relationships. This is only one piece, but a very necessary and important part of what I teach and coach and guide women through in my individual relationship coaching and The Empowered Relationship System group coaching program I will be launching in 2023. Although I believe more insight and understanding of the Ways of Loving and Love Needs is imperative, I will be focusing on the one that I believe is the most important and the one I know we ALL need consistently to feel loved, seen, heard, respected, safe and connected in our relationships.
Ok here we go…here you go…this is my mic drop! Acknowledgment. The Ways of Loving and Love Needⓒ that is like the BEST GIFT we never knew we wanted and did not realize that we as individuals and our relationships need and crave and CANNOT truly Thrive without! Surprise! Here is my gift to you all…use it well…use it often…enjoy the rewards and reap the benefits…please. What it is: ac·knowl·edg·ment NOUN acknowledgement (noun) Acceptance of the truth or existence of something: Action of expressing or displaying gratitude or appreciation for something Action of showing that one has noticed someone or something. Confirming receipt of something Ok. I can hear you now…”So what do I do with that?” or “What does that mean or have to do with me or my relationship?” Why we need it or need to do/practice it: #1 FOR YOU/I When we acknowledge our spouse or partner (even kids too) for ANYTHING they are doing, saying, expressing that makes US feel loved, seen, heard, respected, appreciated, safe and connected. We REMEMBER WHY we are with this person, why we love them, chose them, live with them etc. AND We are also CLEARLY and in a POSITIVE WAY communicating our LOVE NEEDS in a way that they can actually HEAR it and INTERNALIZE it. Vs. Asking, Telling, Complaining, Whining, or the all-time fave: “Anger Telling” in an argument. Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg. 9 *Spoiler Alert: If they can actually Hear Us, they may actually DO MORE of this Way of Loving that We/YOU need consistently. You get MORE of what you need. WOW. Brain explosion. Mic drop. Result: Increased LOVE AND CONNECTION > Feeling good about the relationship #2 For Them They feel good about something they did, said, expressed that they are usually wondering if it was helpful or not OR if you even cared They feel like they did something right or more confident that they actually have a CLUE about how to love you in the way you need. They feel like a good person and more importantly a GOOD spouse/partner Result: Increased LOVE AND CONNECTION > Feeling good about the relationship
#3 For Us/WE This increased LOVE AND CONNECTION feeling leads to: Decreased conflict, tension and stress and more often leads to increased safety and trust in the relationship, so that we communicate not only more, but more effectively and more transparently. Who doesn’t want that? I know it seems like a lot - but only because it is NEW. Hence the 1 or 2 or 3x as long as you do every day. Focus on your Love Needs that are met OR Anything POSITIVE that you feel good about (Love need/Positive interaction/LOVED You Well in what way) Ex. Acts of Service - did the laundry, picked up dinner, took your car for service/Affirmation - said you looked nice, said I love you or texted I miss you. Affection - held your hand, gave a kiss, hugged you, touched your shoulder or cheek etc. Focus on ANYTHING that they did, said, offered or expressed that helped (PRIORITIZED the Relationship that day). Ex. Made it home for dinner on time, remembered an important date, made time for the WE Focus on ANYTHING they did, said, expressed for you, your life, your home/household etc (Contributing to the success of the relationship/Team Success) ex. Therapy, fixed something, handled some business, made dinner for everyone. #2 IMPORTANT! Make sure to add to your acknowledgment the WHY. Why did you feel this was important to acknowledge? What or how did it make you feel? “Thank you for taking the time to pick up dinner, my day was crazy and so much to take care of… it’s so nice to feel taken care of at the end of the day”. “Oh babe, you remembered! I love when you remember our important days, I feel so special to you, like I am so yours”. “Hmmm…I love when you hug me like that, I feel like it’s just you and me and we are in all of this together”. I guarantee…YES Guarantee…if you do this consistently, not only will you feel better, but you will also notice the energy in your home and relationship shift dramatically. YOU did that. Empowered woman, YOU. Also, you will find that you are getting more of what you need - maybe ever. This is why THIS is the MOST IMPORTANT ONE and I believe the easiest to start doing, that makes the most impact in the shortest amount of time. If we do this consistently in our relationships, working on the harder stuff may be more feasible and possible – and really, not as painful. Result: Increased LOVE AND CONNECTION > Feeling good about the relationship. How do we put into practice: #1 Focus on doing/offering 1-3 acknowledgments EVERY DAY. I know it seems like a lot - but only because it is NEW. Hence the 1 or 2 or 3x as long as you do every day. How do we put into practice: #1 Focus on doing/offering 1-3 acknowledgments EVERY DAY. WE CREATE OUR OWN REALITY! Dear Readers. I want to remind you that you are all powerful vibrational beings, you have amazing creative skills which makes you and all of us the creator of our own realities., in both positives and negatives. If you don’t believe me, then here is the proof that no one is responsible for every thought , choices, and every step you take in each of your days. You wake up and decide to stay in bed, or get up, you decide to have a shower straight away or go and make a coffee, you decide what you will wear, from here on in your day, you and only you make the choices you do, you create your own reality. For people who blame their ex-partners that they are at fault for the breakup, for the mistakes they made, that you mention all that is wrong with them, well here is the thing, you created this reality due to the choice to enter into that relationship.. WE ARE THE ONLY ONES WHO ARE THE CREATORS OF OUR OWEN REALITIES., NO ONE CAN MAKE ANY DESIONS FOR YOU, ONLY YOU HAVE YOUR THOUGHTS COMING FORM THE HIGHER SOURCE, BEING DOWNLOADED THROUGH YOU, NO OTHER HUMAN HAS THE SAME DOWNLOADS AT ALL. “Your life is but a reflection of the predominance of your thoughts.” Think wisely and think big. And remove anyone who is not in support of who you are and what you desire in your life. Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg.12
Photo by Frankie Cordoba 90 Self-Discovery Questions to Find Yourself [+ Free PDF] By Jordan Tarver Self-discovery is the process of understanding your character increasingly more throughout life. One of the more common ways to do that is by asking yourself self-discovery questions, or self-exploration questions, that challenge you to think deeply. These questions can range in topics, including your career, purpose, passions, family, relationships, and goals. Regardless of the topic you’re exploring, these questions will help you learn more about yourself within those specific areas, giving you a chance to reveal your true identity. Before we dive into the exact questions to ask yourself for self-discovery, I want to set the record straight: doing this type of exercise is not always easy. It would be wrong to think that you’ll be able to find the perfect answer immediately. Give yourself time to explore each question that resonates with you and be patient. Great personal discoveries don’t happen overnight. How to Use These Self-discovery Questions. After you download the free self-discovery questions PDF and find your favourite questions below, make it a point to consistently work on answering at least one question at a time. If you feel like your life lacks clarity, these questions can provide guidance and help you discover the direction you crave. Questions for self-discovery are especially helpful if you: Want to discover your most authentic self and true identity. Are confused on what to do with your life. Struggle making decisions that benefit your journey of self-discovery. Want to live a life infused with meaning. Crave unlocking the best version of yourself. Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg.13
While there’s no magic number of questions you should ask yourself, I do believe it’s in your best interest to live in a constant state of self-exploration. This means consistently working through self-discovery questions that resonate and spark interest. Relationships Photo by Crystal Shaw Relationships are the key to life. The people you surround yourself with become your support system and inspire the manner in which you act—and you do the same for them. Knowing this, it’s essential to understand what you value in relationships and how you want to show up for those around you. Create the best relationships in your life by asking the hard questions. 1. Do the people I spend the most time with have qualities and characteristics I wish to portray? 2. What is going well in my best relationship, and what can I improve? 3. Who do I want to show up as for my community? 4. In any type of relationship, what do I value most? 5. What qualities do I bring to a relationship? 6. How can I show up better for my friends and family? 7. What’s the most important lesson I learned from a past bad relationship? Good relationship? 8. How can I put more effort into connecting with the people around me? 9. When was the last time I told a friend I loved them? 10. What do you I value most in a life partner? 11. How do my closest relationships make me feel? 12. What’s more important to you: a few amazing relationships or several average relationships? 13. When do I feel most connected with my surrounding community? 14. What’s working well in my friendships? What’s not working well? 15. What qualities do I value most in a friend? Why Is Asking Yourself Self-exploration Questions Important? Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg.17
Why Is Asking Yourself Self-exploration Questions Important? One of the best ways to get the most out of your life is by consistently learning more about yourself—there will always be more edges of your character to explore and reveal. By asking yourself self-discovery and self-exploration questions, you’re able to develop a better grasp your individuality and the deepest parts of your soul. Self-discovery questions are designed to make you think beyond the surface of life—making them understandably challenging at times. However, when you ask hard life questions, you often come out with revolutionary discoveries that can create a ripple effect of life-changing epiphanies. So while you may want to retreat from hard self-discovery questions at first, remaining courageous may be the golden ticket to finding yourself. If you choose to avoid self-discovery questions, you’ll become the sole person keeping yourself from discoveries that would otherwise guide you toward become the best version of yourself—a recipe for not living life to the fullest. Bottom Line If you’re just getting start on your self-discovery journey or you’re looking to dive deeper, self-discovery questions can help guide you. Asking specific questions about different areas of life can help you encounter revelations you may have not otherwise had. Invisibly sick and desperate for answers If I may, I’d like to share with you a short story about how I came to realize that my health wasn’t as perfect as I thought and how that has been the greatest blessing of my life. In 2016, life was perfect. I believed it was going to be one of the best years of my life (it was in many ways). I got married to an amazing man, his youngest son married the love of his life, we were financially stable, and we were expecting a grandson (on my birthday). We were incredibly blessed. However, I was also struggling with exhaustion, occasional chest discomfort and memory issues. I was starting to question if I had early onset dementia (yes it felt that severe). I chose to ignore the signs and blame it on the good stress with so many wonderful things going on in our lives. In October, one month after getting married everything changed. I ended up in the emergency room with a blood pressure of 200/100 and heart palpitations. This started 2+ months of being off work because I was too exhausted to make it through. the day and LOTS of doctor appointments and numerous tests. Test after test came back “in normal range”. It is a very defeating feeling to keep hearing “we can’t find anything”. You begin to think it’s all in your head or maybe you are just making it up to get out of work. I was told “it must be anxiety”, here’s a pill. I tried the pill at my husband’s request after I had yet another breakdown of tears because I felt broken. I was broken. Crying over forgetting how to do a simple task isn’t normal. Anxiety wasn’t the source of my problem and caused adverse reactions. In January, I went back to work and just sucked it up. I was struggling. I would get up in the morning start getting ready for work, take a 25-minute power nap, drive to work while talking to my sister so I didn’t fall asleep, take a power nap on my lunch break, talk to my Mom or sister on my drive home to stay awake, take a nap when I got home, eat, shower, and go to bed. My blood pressure was still erratic, I still cried for no reason, and I had hot and cold flashes. I could be under multiple blankets shivering and within a minute sweating and feeling sick. Menopause? That would have been a great simple answer but no. I didn’t give up looking for the cause. I can be pretty stubborn sometimes. For most of my life I have been aware of the fragility of life and made strides to be proactive in my health but that’s a story for another time. I started asking people I trusted for suggestions. My massage therapist friend who also was a Reiki master suggested going to a Naturopath. I made an appointment. Around this same time, I was watching, from afar, a friend posting on FB about the weight she was losing. Since one of the doctors said all my symptoms would go away if I lost 10-15 pounds, I reached out to my friend and asked what she was doing. She told me about her health system, and I cried thinking about spending more money to feel better but decided with a 30-day money back guarantee, I had nothing to lose. Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg.24
These 2 seemingly small steps started a journey of finding answers and feeling better. My first step: I started the proven health system and within a week I was starting to feel like myself again. It was such a dramatic change. I found my smile again! I use the system to this day and will continue to use it until it doesn’t make me feel good anymore. If you are open to more information, let’s chat. I will help you make a plan that fits your wellness goals. My next step was going to a Naturopath. I found Dr. Charles Lewis at Simply Your Health. (If anyone is interested, he does long distance consultations.) He started with a symptom questionnaire. The answers are then graphed on a Symptom Burden Graph. This helped us focus on the top areas: Cardiovascular, sugar handling, small intestine and adrenal. He told me we were going to focus on the sugar and adrenal. He believed the other 2 would regulate if we could find the cause of the adrenal especially. Next step, a hair analysis. Bingo!!!! We have answers. When I walked into my appointment, he took hold of the report, looked me in the eye and said, “this is bad! Hear me when I say this is really bad! We have to get this fixed or you will be in the hospital.” If you have ever been in the situation of not feeling well and not having answers, I know you will understand my response. I cried. I cried because I now knew I wasn’t crazy. It didn’t matter how “bad” it was, I now could make a plan. I could now DO something. Doc said we would start by focusing my two biggest issues. One: my minerals were depleted (especially sodium & potassium) Two: I had toxic levels of heavy metals in my body. I finally had some answers to my symptoms. Aluminium attacks the brain hence my memory issues. My sodium and potassium were so low that my body was in survival mode which was the reason I couldn’t control my emotions or body temperature. I needed to detox and adjust my diet. I already ate pretty healthy and since I had started the health system around the same time, Doc took all the information from the products I was using and added additional supplements where needed. Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg.25
He set up a regiment to improve my overall minerals with a focus on my sodium and potassium because they were dangerously low. I also had to start a series of supplements to aid my body to detox the heavy metals. My aluminium levels were of particular concern. It took about 18-24 months to detox and find some balance.(Do not attempt to do a heavy metal detox without doctor supervision. You can damage your organs) I’m sure you have heard health is wealth and I completely believe that statement. What frustrates me is when you go to the doctor and walk out with more questions than answers or worse made to feel like you are exaggerating how you feel. I can’t tell you how many times I heard “you’re getting older”, “you’re in normal range”, “we’ll monitor it to see if you get worse” or the best (worst) one “just wait until it gets worse, and I’ll give you a pill”. It infuriates me! My response has become, “wrong answer”. I believe my health issues are a blessing because now I am on a God given mission to share with you the answers I have found. I have learned so much by being open and doing my own research. I don’t believe or buy into everything I read. I encourage you to take what you learn here and go do your own research. Every person is different. YOU know your body better than anyone else. Trust this statement. In my body: sugar causes hot flashes (as well as adrenal issues), dairy causes sinus issues (no more sinus pills…not even seasonal), gluten causes tremors in my hands and head and since middle school chocolate cause extreme abdominal pain. I have learned these things over years of research, reflection, adjustment and researching more. If you only take away one thing, I pray you take away HOPE. Do not give up hope. It may take some unconventional research and it may take you time, but God has you here for a purpose. YOU are a gift. YOU are worth it. YOU have the right to say, “wrong answer” let’s keep looking. In future articles, I will go deeper in the hair analysis and why I have had 4 tests done to date and intend to have another one this year. I will share with you some unconventional amazing things that you can do to improve your health and wellness. I will also share with you how you can find your food intolerances (even if you think you don’t have any) and what to do with the knowledge. For me personally there is no such thing as retirement, the only day I retire is in the grave, I will rest in, and I will be making darn sure that I won’t take my gifts to the grave, like most do who actually would have been multi-millionaires or billionaires . These gifts are meant to be of service to help mankind, we are all born to do this while living in creation. YOUR MESS IS YOUR SUCCESS Obstacles do not happen to you; they happens for you. Written by Christine Bogers The life is about mindset, everything you need is in your brain system you just have to tap into it and release it. Mindset can be a curse or a blessing, what you decide to do with it will determine your success or failure. When we experience any form of discomfort, let it be physical or mental we tend to do the same thing over and over. We need to learn from that mistake and keep looking for ways to prevent us from making the same mistake again. It’s like mathematics if you get it wrong, go back and find out where you went wrong in the process so that next time you won’t make that mistake again. The only reason people fail, is because they program themselves to fail. Let’s change that now! We all have the gifts and talents that can help all of humanity. I believe that, and so do you, most likely.? If you believe this, then we should look to be the change that can help bring those changes into our world for the world. We are a product of our past. But it is important to acknowledge that we can’t allow our past to hinder our future. We have a choice to either look at the challenges in our life as barriers or opportunities to grow and learn. In life, it’s not just the big things that matter. It’s the small moments that add up to become the big things. These seemingly insignificant choices in our daily lives determine how we feel, how we treat others and what kind of people we’ll become. Changing your mindset can help you live a more positive and productive life. The choices we make have consequences, but it is the result of our mindset that will change the outcome. If what you do does not move you toward your desired outcome, then stop doing it! The mind is a powerful tool, it can destroy your life and dreams or create the dreams you have always wanted to come true. The only thing that exists in any one of us is what we think, if we don’t program our mind to become all we are born to be and become, then we will never become., “I am.” A success mindset is the product of mastering daily challenges. Your mental state determines how you face challenges, and how successful you will be when confronted by them. Can you succeed? Yes! You can succeed. You just have to dig deep to find your true self, your core and what makes you unique. Then apply this knowledge to your situation and move forward with strength and determination. We are all born capable of doing anything we set our minds to, with repetition., Your mess becomes your success, even though it feels like a weight of prevention rather than forward movement., Your mess is enlightened steppingstones showing you what serves you and what does not, Embrace your mess and step into your success. Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg.29 That’s right, you don’t eat anything. This typically raises two key questions: 1. Don't I do this when I'm sleeping? 2. Surely you will lose weight by not eating? The answer is yes to both of these questions, but we must look at the facts in more detail to better explain this modern protocol. Everybody fasts, whether it’s from an overnight fast (when sleeping), during periods of food scarcity or perhaps even for religious reasons. It is not a "diet", but rather an eating pattern. Essentially, it is making a conscious decision to skip certain meals. You are, therefore, deciding on a specific time period to consume your daily calories, while forgoing food at other times of the day. Over the last few years this has become increasingly popular with the health and fitness conscious as a further means to manipulate their eating habits for increased results. I personally have been doing Intermittent Fasting for the last 1.5 years and it works very well for my body. My fasting window is between 15:9 and 16:8 (eating from 1pm to 9or10pm). Let's dive right in with part 1... Intermittent fasting (IF) has become one of the most talked about modern protocols over the last number of years and rightfully so, it breaks the rules. For decades we have been told to eat every 2-3 hours and to eat breakfast upon waking; to kick start our metabolism for optimal body composition and health. IF goes against this and many protocols suggest reducing your meals and delaying breakfast. Also, many protocols suggest eating less during the day and feasting at night, again going against the saying ‘eat breakfast like a king, lunch as a prince, and dinner as a pauper’. IF therefore goes against many of the typical recommendations from fitness professionals and has grasped the attention of many people. WHAT IS INTERMITTENT FASTING? In its most basic form, IF is essentially the practice of occasionally (or at certain times) going for periods of time without food. INTERMITTENT FASTING (Part 1) Written by Pam Lehr
Looking at what IF is, it appears to be a rather simple protocol on the whole, however, there are a variety of other protocols that follow this general ideology but are very different in practice. There are a number of popular IF protocols that are worth knowing about and understanding. Unlike some of the modern nutrition protocols, the lack of scientific basis behind IF has left it open to manipulation by many users and proponents. The current research on fasting is still relatively new and it wasn’t until its increased popularity that we have been able to get a true reflection of the benefits and negatives it has on a large population. Existing "lab" research is minimal on humans and many studies are of poor quality. Furthermore, it appears that many of the benefits of IF were noted when compared to "normal" diets i.e. western type diets. Therefore, results from a scientific standpoint appear positive but could be disputed regarding accuracy and scale. Many of the various IF protocols have, therefore, been based on other scientific studies along with strong support from anecdotal evidence. It appears that many people have had great success with various IF protocols and it really does seem like a case of "test it yourself and see if it fits". HOW DOES IT WORK? THE BENEFITS OF IF So, when it comes to the benefits of fasting, there is something we need to consider. We have mentioned a range of different approaches, which should not be all grouped as "fasting". The 16:8 method, is now referred to as time-restricted feeding, as while technically it is fasting, our body does not activate the same metabolic responses as it would to a 24 or 48 hour fast. If you have heard of fasting, you have no doubt heard of the magical benefits that it can have on dead cell turnover and regeneration (autophagy) which may help to reduce the risk of disease. However, what they don’t say here is that this process occurs after a 16-hour fast only in rodents, for whom 16 hours is a much greater portion of their lifespan than it is for us humans. It is, therefore, not yet agreed that short-term fasting can provide the host of benefits that it is often touted for in online blog articles that you might have come across. Here are some of the more proven benefits of fasting... Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg.29
ENHANCED FAT LOSS AND MUSCLE RETENTION Short-term fasting may help to enhance important hormones that play a role in muscle growth e.g. growth hormone. In addition, there have been some studies showing that time-restricted feeding matched to a traditional restricted-calorie. diet may help to preserve muscle mass while losing weight.. REDUCED HUNGER LEVELS When we fast and deprive the body of a source of carbohydrate for an extended period of time, it will switch to burning fat as the primary fuel. This results in a reduced hunger or need for carbohydrate and many people report feeling less hungry after a short couple of days following this way of eating.. MORE STABLE ENERGY LEVELS AND IMPROVED MOOD Fewer meals usually means more stable blood sugar levels, leading to more stable energy and improved mood. Also, being liberated from eating 6+ meals compared to traditional "diets", brings a sense of relief and reduced irritability. INCREASED MENTAL FOCUS AND CONCENTRATION For the reasons above, many people also report having more focus and mental clarity during their fasting windows. This may be in part due to some hormonal changes, but most likely due to the stable blood sugar levels i.e. no spikes and dips in energy levels. THE NEGATIVES OF IF Overall, there are very few negative side effects with Intermittent Fasting.. The biggest drawback for many is transitioning onto such a protocol. Moving from eating 6 meals a day to 3, all by delaying breakfast and incorporating fasted weight training can be a difficult task. This can be a lot to throw at a body in one go, so taking it easy and introducing various components at a time can improve compliance. IF can be complex for people who have issues with blood sugar regulation, suffer from hypoglycemia, have diabetes etc. It should only be considered in healthy individuals without health conditions or have a discussion with your medical professional. Aside from avoiding this protocol with certain clinical populations, there is evidence that IF affects men and women differently. A study examined the effect of alternate-day fasting on blood lipids. Women’s HDL improved and their triglycerides remained stable. For men, HDL remained stable, and their triglycerides decreased. It’s therefore clear that due to the metabolic and hormonal differences in males and females, this might determine how we respond to a stressor like Intermittent Fasting. More to come with Part 2 on the different fasting options. In the meantime, if you would like to download a free guide on Intermittent Fasting click here. Style Tips for Men REALIZE THAT DRESSING WELL IS A SKILL. It can seem like there’s a lot to know about good style, and there is, at least if you want to be enrolled in its master class. But looking sharper than 99% of other guys is actually fairly simple and merely requires knowing and doing little stuff right. The kind of stuff that can be encapsulated into short, easy-to-remember principles and adages. 1. Get rid of. Throw out or give away anything you haven’t worn in over a year. You get two “beloved old favourite” exemptions here, as well as formalwear. Ruthlessly pitch or donate the rest. 2. Get everything adjusted. Well, okay, not everything. But most things: nice pants, shirts, and jackets should all go to the tailor for adjustments, unless they came custom-tailored already. 3. Spend more money on less pieces of clothing. Quality lasts longer than quantity, and you look better in it. 4. Shop for a suit in person.. Even if you don’t need one. Just get the experience of comparing jacket styles, fabrics, and cuts. 5 There are more shoe colours than brown and black. Colored leather and suede are fantastic shoe options. Get a little crazy with reds, blues, and grays. Don’t worry about matching a belt to each one — a black belt with gray shoes or a brown one with oxblood red is fine. Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg.31 6. Sometimes less is more. A couple plain, dark solid pieces with one bright accent can do more than a flashy, patterned suit or shirt. ART IN YOUR HEART By Whiskey Holcombe Let’s do a little experiment. Grab a colouring book or print a colouring page off the internet. Your assignment is to colour this page deliberately with the “wrong” colours, and outside of the lines. I know. Just thinking about it is painful, right? That’s okay. Do it anyway. That pain you feel is exactly my point. For generations, I believe, a pattern of being admonished for colouring (stepping) outside the lines has caused us to distrust our own creativity long into adulthood.. Throughout the years, I’ve worked with children as a babysitter, a mother and Lolly, a scout leader, a camp counsellor, after school supervisor, art teacher, K-12 substitute teacher, and as a licensed (inner city) elementary teacher. To say the least, I have a bit of experience under my belt. There has been a constant through ALL of these venues, and it’s tragic. Children are incredibly insecure about their works of art. Quite frankly adults are no better, but I’m positive their issues started in childhood.. But why? Has someone in everyone’s childhood been a scathing critic of kindergarten stick figures? You know…the ones with a huge belly with two arms, two legs, and a head that never seems to have a neck attached. Were we too asymmetrical with our finger-painted suns? Did we paint the dog blue, just to have an adult admonish us because “we all know that dogs are brown”? What is it? My hunch is that at some point, our society forced all of us to shove our inner children into deep dark closets; never to touch a Crayola creatively again. Those that didn’t listen are now the creators and artists of our adult world. Official colouring books came onto the scene in about the 1880s and Crayola crayons didn’t come for another 20+ years after that. Before these inventions, adults, and children both painted and drew. They would replicate to paper what they witnessed in their worlds. They would let their imaginations run wild. Many would sit in nature as they made their masterpieces. They would create at their own pace, through their own spirit, and they presumably didn’t give a second thought to it not being good enough for their non-existent fridge. Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg.32
‘Laura E. Wasowicz., the curator of children's literature at the American Antiquarian Society, is quoted in a vox.com article saying, ”With the colouring books, there's more freedom.” I’m not sure that I agree. While colouring books may be all neat and tidy, it may be possible that they take away from our natural carefree adventures to create. If you’ve ever made a mudpie, you know what I’m talking about. There was nothing better than getting our hands dirty to slop up a mean mud pie! We were awesome bakers, after all! By the time we’re adults, we are tired of cleaning up muddy floors, dogs, and our mudpie making kids. Mud is the enemy, not food. AND we never take the time to make a mud pie with our children. Imagine the impact it could have on both of you! Colouring books are structure, NOT creative freedom. Colouring books relegate us to staying in the lines and filling in the blanks that someone else chose. Have you ever put a colouring book away because you just weren’t “feeling” the right image to colour? I can’t be the only one. At one point in my life, I’d somehow even commanded myself to colour the book in order (always front to back, and with my name and the date on every completed page) because the image choice had already been taken away from me. I may have even written in a table of contents inside the front cover. I just had to have a say somehow. Crazy. But not really. To this day, I get flabbergasted over which image to choose in an adult colouring book. It’s like it may be the end of the world if I choose the wrong one today. Search me…I have no idea why. Maybe that’s it. That’s the missing link. Free choice. We’ve all seen a four-year-old have a meltdown because they wanted the cup in your left hand rather than the exact same cup in your right. They wanted to choose. They really didn’t care about the cup itself. Maybe colouring books have done the same thing to many of us. It’s happened to both children and adults alike. We have analysis paralysis. We hold on to a crippling feeling that we’re doing something wrong if we don’t choose or create in a certain way. Or we resent that we weren’t secure enough to make a choice. And it goes on from there. Oh, wait! Did they actually have us compete in colouring contests where the winner stayed in the lines the best? Ahhh...but conformity is bad....unless they're judging you on how well you've conformed without making it look like conformity....then that's good. I think? Photo by Laura Adai Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg.33
At this point, those contests seem a little suspect. We have a very bad habit (indoctrination) of comparing our personal creations to those of others on the planet. If I do say so myself, Pinterest has turned this into a compulsive disorder for many. We don’t even want to organically produce our creations anymore. Now we can get them with full instructions on how to create exactly like millions of other crafters. We’re not creators anymore. Collectively, many of us have devolved into non-original crafters. We just sign into our accounts and hoard thousands of great ideas that we’ll either never do or we’ll follow the directions precisely and usually think the other gal did it better anyway. Can I get a witness? When I taught in any venue that involved creating, I had one rule. “If you made it, it’s not wrong.” In my elementary art class, and when adult friends would come visit to paint kindness rocks at my home, it has never failed that someone was going to pick apart their materialized imagination. I won’t have it. I’m not going to judge you and it hurts my heart when you judge you. My dear, sweet grownups. Please start being a kid again. But this time, have the insight that your creations and YOU, as a creation of divine power, are perfect just the way they are. I challenge you, in the very near future, to grab a box of crayons and some blank paper and create something FROM SCRATCH! If you’ve got kiddos around, have them do it also. And then, don’t judge your work. Just love it. Frame Your ART, set it for all to enjoy, and relax. Art is Love. And the most important person to enjoy your art…is you. I was haunted by severe depression during my younger years, the first major bout happened when I was 9 years old. Months or sometimes years at a time, not wanting to be alive, not interacting with anyone unless I had to, I had no friends, and no joy in my life, every day fantasizing about a way out. I graduated high school with 25 bucks to my name; my Dad had just passed away the day after I turned 18. I was lucky enough to get a job and started that next Monday, working my tail off 12 hours a day in a 100’+ warehouse; I lost over 30 pounds that summer. Before my first day, I bought some of those t-shirts that come 3 to a pack so I would have something to wear to work; the soles of my shoes were coming undone; they sounded just like I had flip flops on when I walked. I had to borrow money just to buy the gas so I could get to work the first 3 weeks, until I got paid, at which point I also got a new pair of shoes. A year later, I was actually able to buy a car that got more than 3 gallons per mile, which cut my gas bill considerably, and rescued me from having to hitchhike to work because my new car didn’t break down repeatedly. The next 3.5 years I slept about 5 hours a night, I was up at 6 in the morning to go to school, and I didn’t get back home until around midnight, exhausted, sweaty and caked in dust from that warehouse. Every single day was a struggle to get through, but I kept putting one foot in front of the other, all for one reason…I was hell-bent on escaping that situation, so much so I didn’t allow anything in my head that might discourage me or distract me. I just instinctively knew from the time I was a little guy… that I was meant for more than that environment. It was part of my identity. I wound up packing up that car with literally everything I could stuff into it, and with $1300 in my pocket I drove across the country to San Diego. I wound up packing up that car with literally everything I could stuff into it, and with $1300 in my pocket I drove across the country to San Diego. At that time, I thought once I got my degree and got a good IT job in corporate America, it would solve all my problems. And it helped, I had a natural aptitude for geek stuff and a superhuman work ethic, so I climbed the ladder extremely fast, and my financial status went from borderline homeless to at least comfortable. I didn’t have to scratch and claw my way to surviving anymore. But a few years and a dot-com crash later, I came to the awful realization that no matter how hard I worked, the path I was on had no chance of getting me where I wanted to be in life. I knew in order to get there I had to call my own shots; I couldn’t have my income limited to what some manager wanted to pay me, so I started learning about business. I took that same work ethic that had gotten me where I was, and I plunged in, devouring everything I could find that I thought could help me. I knew I had to level up, yet again, so I went to work. But this time, unbeknownst to me, I was missing something. The other times I had levelled up, that target of escaping the situation I grew up in, and rising through the ranks in IT land, that target was part of my identity. It was like I knew I was destined for it; I knew I could do it, and I knew the harder I worked the faster I could get there. But this target, was something completely different for me. No matter how hard I worked, or how much I tried to fake it till you make it, I always felt this overwhelming doubt; succeeding in business was not just outside my comfort zone, it was outside my identity; it was outside who I was as a person. I just couldn’t see myself doing it, and I had no idea why. As you can probably predict I failed miserably. I made some of the dumbest moves. Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg.35 HOW TO BOUNCE BACK AND BEAT IMPOSSIBLE ODDS
Bounce Back I could have possibly made, trusted people I shouldn’t have trusted. That haunted me for years afterwards; completely wiped out anything I had that resembled confidence. I refused to give up, but with this giant emotional failure hanging around my neck, I had crystal clear evidence that I was not cut out for this; this was outside the identity I had for myself. And again, not conscious of what was going on behind the scenes, I dabbled in another business I thought was “safe” (at least I wouldn’t lose money) but I was completely shellshocked and sold on a really crappy identity at that point, and so naturally I made zero progress. That is, until several years later, when I got an incredible gift that forced me to break out of that identity. I was hiking at a place called Point Loma Tidepools when I slipped and landed the back of my head on a slab of solid rock. I hit with so much force my brain actually rebounded and hit the top of my skull, and I twisted the part behind my eyes really badly. Brutal pain: if you’ve ever been zapped by electricity, that’s what was going on in my head; there are no words for how bad it hurt. For the next two years, I was incredibly sensitive to light and sound, so much that anytime my kids yelled, laughed, or God forbid slammed a door it felt like being thumped on the head by a baseball bat. Needless to say, with young kids running around, I spent a LOT of time alone, in my dungeon, in the dark; I had black Hefty bags taped over the windows, not exactly my finest moment. In a lot of ways, it reminded me of being that 18-year-old kid again; I was back in that ditch, and I knew I was going to have to scratch and claw my way out. And so I went back to work, doing superhuman amounts of meditation to lower my brainwaves, in addition to all the brain-healing research I could physically stand to do; I couldn’t look at my computer or even my phone for more than a minute or so in the beginning. It is NOT about doing more or adding more tasks to an already overflowing to-do list. Sitting there in my dark dungeon, I made a decision that I was going to get back to living a normal life, I would be able to get out and do stuff and actually see the sun again. Two years later, I had made some progress, but not nearly enough. For the first time, doubt started to creep in whether or not I would be able to heal. As luck (or fate) would have it, I came across Dr Daniel Amen, who does a special type of brain scan. Where the standard MRIs just look at the tissues, he does what’s called a SPECT scan, which maps the blood flow and electrical activity in the brain. Alzheimer’s patients will look normal on an MRI, but in a SPECT scan their brains show holes (they look kind of like golf balls) where the activity isn’t happening. I took a bunch of tests and went up to Orange County to get my scan. Lucky for me, my brain didn’t show any permanent damage; the psychiatrist who reviewed my scans with me said my brain actually looked healthier than his. But then he showed me something I wasn’t expecting areas that should have been dark were lit up like fireworks, and for the first time I really heard those letters: PTSD.. I was in complete shock sitting there; this was REALLY out of left field, but all of a sudden, so many things made sense. And I finally knew why my brain wasn’t healing; with a brain injury, the name of the game is to bring your brainwaves down, so it has a chance to rest and repair itself. My overactive fight-or-flight mechanism was doing the opposite and keeping my brain in overdrive. If I wanted to beat the brain injury, I had to beat the PTSD first. I had NO IDEA how I was going to do that, but instantly I knew what tool I was going to use: NLP. Even though I hadn’t formally studied it, I had already done a TON of NLP on myself that I learned from Tony Robbins. Tony once had a woman who had 152 different personalities, and she started splitting right in the middle of his seminar. He was able to integrate her, right there on the spot in about 45 minutes. (If you think for a second of how many YEARS of therapy she would have needed…to probably not get very far, that’s the power of NLP!) Beat Impossible Odds It IS about letting go of frenzied schedules and meaningless activities. It IS about letting go of unhealthy behaviours. It IS about letting go of unserving attitudes like worry, guilt, and judgment. It IS about having BALANCE and FLOW in your life. Self-care is an INTENTIONAL way of living by which our values, attitudes and actions are INTEGRATED into our day-to-day routines. It’s being a WORTHY steward of the SELF – mind, body, and spirit. It's about being ALIGNED and CENTRED... on all levels. It's about giving yourself PERMISSION. If you cannot NURTURE and SUSTAIN yourself, you cannot be a provider and carer of others. You will find that all areas of your life are interconnected, ignore one and it affects the other areas. Start small. A simple daily practice of being still and breathing may be all you can managed at the moment, and that's okay. It's a good start. As you progress with your practice, you will work towards understanding yourself on a much deeper level. You will increase your awareness as to what is really important, and what you need to change or let go of completely. AWARENESS is key! I cannot stress that enough. You will discover what lights you up, what brings you peace, what you love to do that will nourish you inside and out. Connect with your spirit as often as possible as this will greatly develop your intuition. Listen to your heart. What do you need for you? Take some time each day to nourish you mind body and soul… then you will be on your way to living a life of true happiness and fulfilment. Teach some of your simple rituals to your family so they can start building their own self-care practice. The earlier one receives this gift, the quicker it becomes second nature. It will teach a lifelong lesson of awareness, self- worth, and self-love. In today's world we often equate being really busy with getting things accomplished. The thing is, whilst you can achieve a great deal doing non-stop, you also allow for your stress levels to increase, you feel pretty flat and eventually you're exhausted. When you take time for yourself, to slow down and take some time to align yourself, you will find that you get a lot more done in a shorter amount of time because you are acting with a clear mind and a relaxed energy. Make sure you do something each day to fill your cup to overflowing. Then you can give to others from the overflow and still have a full cup for yourself. Win/win! If you have no idea where to start, take the FREE Self-Care Assessment. If you want more information on how you can kickstart YOUR daily self-care practice, why not join in my 7 Day Self-Care Kickstart. Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg.37
How to B o u n c e Back an d Beat Impossib le Od ds Although I had no idea at the time, this decision that I was going to conquer both demons would completely change my life path. I knew I had to start with my newly discovered PTSD. I attended NLP training and got quadruple-certified in NLP and hypnosis. During my time in training, I peppered every single coach there with one question: “How can you cure PTSD?” Although they did the best they could to help me, none of them had the answers I was looking for. I had no idea if my goal was even possible, but I had to find a way. Two years later, having studied the work of some of the best in both NLP and hypnosis, I finally found my answer; I released my PTSD symptoms, which allowed me to finally begin healing my brain injury. Although I can’t help you release PTSD in this article, I can share with you the mindset you will need to overcome impossible odds. At 18 years old, I had no idea how I was going to escape the environment I was in. Years later, sitting in my dark dungeon, I had no idea how I was going to overcome my injury. 4 neurologists and dozens of treatments later, I faced the scary realization that I was getting worse. These obstacles seemed impossible at the time, but I went on to beat both of them using the following steps: 1. Define your purpose. You cannot achieve a goal until you define it clearly. What is it you want (gives you direction) and WHY do you want it (gives you the emotional impact to follow through on the days you don’t feel like it). Dedication to a goal cannot be done by halves. 2. Keep in contact with your purpose. Discipline is simply a matter of keeping in contact with your purpose. There will be days you don’t feel like it, and negative/lazy thoughts will start to enter your mind, things like “why am I going through all this?”, “why am I putting myself through all this effort?”. This failure of will/lack of drive is a direct result of losing a clear vision of your purpose. When that purpose is firmly in your mind, this kind of failure simply cannot occur. Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg.38
3. Confidence comes from ACTION (not the other way around!). Much of what can intimidate you or cause you “approach anxiety” is simply fear of the unknown, or the ego hit/embarrassment of failing. Big goals and unfamiliar territory can be scary, and it can take a lot of willpower to push past the urge to put it off (manana syndrome) or doing something easier/more comfortable in the moment. Realize you are heading for a ditch with this approach. What will your life look like in 10 more years of this “approach avoidance”? 20 more years? Now change that movie in your head: what will your life be like if you ATTACK your new goals, and every day start doing the things you want to put off? What if, instead of avoiding the hard things or getting discouraged, you got EXCITED by them? After all, that big goal (your purpose) is on the other side of the hard stuff; if it were easy we'd all be rich, in perfect shape, and living our dream life. The reason YOU WILL get to your dream life is because you DIVE HEADFIRST into the hard stuff. How much better will things be in 10 years with this approach? 20 years? How much better is THIS life instead of the first one we imagined?. 4. Learn the positive benefits of failure. Most of us, either by our schoolteachers, parents or peers have been taught the failure is a bad thing. We may have had it drilled into our heads. The truth is, FAILURE IS PART OF SUCCESS. IF YOU AVOID FAILURE OR MAKING MISTAKES, THEN YOU AVOID SUCCESS. I challenge you to study truly successful people, those who started with nothing and achieved great things. I guarantee you, none of them hit it out of the park on their first try. They all had “failures” along the way; it’s how they RESPONDED to those failures that made them who they are. Another trait they all share, is they were all wounded at some point: physically, mentally, financially, emotionally, socially. And they all made the same decision, to ditch “woe is me” and trade it for “what’s life trying to teach me?” To heal those wounds and also to use them as fuel. If You 1.0 hasn’t had the greatest life experience, You 2.0 deserves to have it that much better. And to get there, you’re entering new territory, which means you will have new “learning experiences”, aka “Failures”. Failure can be a fantastic learning tool. It defines (current) limits for you, gives you invaluable feedback on what’s working and what isn’t working, and tells you what step of the staircase you are currently on. As long as you see it this way, it can give you a road map and also help motivate you to climb higher. Failure will not stop you; it’s FEAR OF FAILURE that will get in your way. This will subconsciously derail you, preventing you from trying hard, from summoning up your total focus and motivation. This fear of failure actually helps to seek out failure! Learn to recognize failure for what it is: feedback at this moment in time as to what works and what doesn’t work, nothing more. It is not a cause for judgement against you or your goals. Avoid anyone who tries to judge you or keep you small when you’re trying to level up, (most often they do it via ridicule or “hey, c’mon why are you working so hard”?). You can be around these people if needed (a lot of times they’re family), but filter what subjects you talk to them about. Sometimes it’s hard to disappoint these people who think they have a “vision” for your life, but ultimately you’re the one that will pay the price for not following through on the life you want. Only share your goals with people who will. Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg.39 support you. Your job is to get around people who are where you want to be; this is the quickest, surest way to level up NOW! Extract what lessons you can from your “failures”, CELEBRATE climbing yet another step on your staircase (very important; your mind will go where it thinks you want it to – if you celebrate your failures it will say “OK, I’ve got to do more of this!”), and armed with your newfound lessons, keep attacking your goals. Refer to the part about keeping in contact with your purpose; always keep that mental movie of you achieving your new life firmly in your mind, and you will get there!

1. Passive Aggressiveness The term passive-aggressive is often used to describe someone who behaves negatively and passively resists change. This behaviour can be observed when a problem is expressed in unclear ways, or you can find an excuse not to carry out an unpleasant task. Passive-aggressive people are generally critical of others but not openly confrontational. They show their displeasure by subtle comments, such as “I don’t have time for this right now” or “You should have done it this way. 2. Remember who you were before you met this person , you can come back to who you are, so don’t listen to the abusers weaking words of abusive control., in the big picture of things they hold no weight. 4. Unhappiness Unhappiness begins in childhood when we are taught that other people's negativity is more important than our own happiness. We are programmed from a very young age to go along with the program, not realizing that it's our brain that is controlling all of this. But it's not just our brains, it's also the people around us programming our mindsets as they are steeped in their own histories and beliefs. When we learn how to see ourselves through loving-kindness meditation, which fosters compassion for both self and others, we open up pathways in the brain that allows us to perceive ourselves as happy beings no matter what is happening around us. Being able to concentrate and remain focused on an activity is one of the most important skills for success in life. However, it can be difficult to maintain concentration when we experience distracting thoughts or emotions. Mindfulness—the practice of focusing on being present in the moment, letting go of judgments, and training the mind—can help you, keeping your attention on what matters. Breathing is an automatic process and is largely controlled by our autonomic nervous system. The truth is that you can learn to control your breathing at will, when and where you want, as long as it doesn’t cause any harm to your body. Breathing exercises done correctly can be a great way to reduce anxiety and get over panic attacks, chronic pain, or anxiety disorders. Focus on long, deep breathing, build muscle strength and endurance with slow, deep breaths rather than shallow and rapid ones. Practice breathing exercises that calm your mind like meditation and yoga. Consider support coaches as well if you need more help dealing with stress or anxiety. www.soarhigh.today Why Breath Work is Good for YOU “Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth.” Marcus Aurelius ----------------------------- Breathing for awareness, relaxation, improves focus, aids in positive self-development. boost immunity. process emotions, heal emotional pain and trauma. develop life skills. Every system in the body relies on oxygen. From cognition to digestion, effective breathing can not only provide you with a greater sense of mental clarity, but it can also help you sleep better, digest food more efficiently, improve your body's immune response, and reduce stress levels. The term "fight or flight" is also known as the stress response. It's what the body does as it prepares to confront or avoid danger. When appropriately invoked, the stress response helps us rise to many challenges. But trouble starts when this response is constantly provoked by less momentous, day-to-day events, such as money woes, traffic jams, job worries, or relationship problems. For many of us, deep breathing seems unnatural. There are several reasons for this. For one, body image has a negative impact on respiration in our culture. A flat stomach is considered attractive, so women (and men) tend to hold in their stomach muscles. This interferes with deep breathing and gradually makes shallow "chest breathing" seem normal, which increases tension and anxiety. Shallow breathing limits the diaphragm's range of motion. The lowest part of the lungs doesn't get a full share of oxygenated air, that can make you feel short of breath and anxious. Deep abdominal breathing encourages full oxygen exchange — that is, the beneficial trade of incoming oxygen for outgoing carbon dioxide. Not surprisingly, it can slow the heartbeat and lower or stabilize blood pressure. Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg.45
Practicing Breath Focus Breath focus helps you concentrate on slow, deep breathing and aids you in disengaging from distracting thoughts and sensations. It's especially helpful if you tend to hold it in your stomach. This is an easy task to do during the day, that you can do anywhere, The effects clear your mind, clam down your body for focus and a body air cleansing Creating a routine daily. You can try several different relaxation techniques to see which one works best for you. The following items can help you. Choose a special place where you can sit (or lie) comfortably. Don't try too hard. You might get tense. Don't be too passive, either. The key to triggering the relaxation response is to divert attention from the stressors. to deeper, calmer rhythms — and having a focal point is essential. Try to practice once or twice a day, always at the same time, to increase the effectiveness of the method. Try to practice at least 10–20 minutes each day. Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg.46
“Nature didn’t need an operation to be beautiful. It just was.” Scott Westerfeld Life is full of beauty. Take notice of it, see it, feel it, look at a flower in full bloom, notice the smell, observe the bee, watch a child in in-no-sense.. Sit on top of a mountain and notice the view, Life is a beautiful creation reminding us to stop and notice the beautiful view of life and the planet we live in all the beautiful moments of joy. By looking deep around you, you see beauty everywhere, a gif of a divine creation. Stop, breathe, and try hard to remember beautiful moments in your life, then look at nature and all the beauty we have on our planet earth… it’s breath taking! The Sun rises at the same time each and every day, we can’t be disappointed! The Moon as small as it is to the human eye, as far as it is… lights up a whole planet… The Ocean surrounding our planet is like warm arms hugging it with security and beauty… When you realize life is so beautiful you will invite more into your life, more love, more success, more money… Life is so beautiful if you make it to be… Life is so beautiful just look in the eyes of a Child… Life is so beautiful just listen to birds signing and flying… “Once you become accustomed to life you will see its full meaning and its incredible beauty.” Jon Krakauer Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg.47
STOP LIVING IN LIMITING BELIEFS. What are limiting beliefs? Limiting beliefs are a state of mind that you think is 100% truths, which restricts you from doing certain things. The limiting beliefs don’t have be always about you, either. They can be about ideas, the way the world works, how you communicate with others and how you act around others, due to the worries of what others feel towards you. Limiting beliefs hold you back in your thought processes, they offer a falsehood front that you deem true, when all it produces is an arrogant mindset towards achieving, 10 common limiting beliefs. I don’t have enough money: “I don’t have enough money to enjoy my life.” o I’m not good enough: “I’m not good enough to manage this project.” o I’m too old or too young: “I’m too young to be a manager.” o I don’t have enough time: “I don’t have enough time to invest in myself.” o I’m not smart enough: “I’m not smart enough to lead this meeting.” o I don’t have enough experience: “I don’t have enough experience for this big career move.” o I’ll never be successful: “I’ll never be successful in my industry.” o I’ll never be one of the best: “I’ll never be one of the best on the team.” o I’m not talented enough: “I’m not talented enough to get a promotion.” o I’ll never be a great leader: “I’ll never be a great leader with my lack of confidence.” DON’T ALLOW YOUR THINKING TO CONTROL YOUR LIFE FOR PREVENTIONS The life you live is your choice, why? Because you are the creator of your life, you’re thinking, everything you do in each of your days. There are so many people out there that shift the blame, yet right from the moment we wake, we choose to stay in bed or get up, we choose to have a shower straight away or get up and have a coffee, the rest of our day is made by us choosing what to do and what to think, no one can decide for you what you are to do or what your day will look like. The moment we own our lives and blame no one we have arrived home to all we are and were born to be like the creator created us to be. If we have the confidence to be who we are then life kicks in with wonderful possibilities flowing towards the creations in our lives. This only builds upon loving the life we live. Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg.48 What if you could remove your limiting beliefs that are holding you back from success.
LIMITING BELIEFS Limiting beliefs stem from one place, and this is your mind., your brains program is to keep you safe from pain in the future. These stem from experiences you went through in your life and because you survived this, it is deemed as safe in your brain’s programed mind. Limiting beliefs tend to have stemmed from early childhood and progressively evolve and reshape throughout your life as you encounter new experiences. You may have experienced that caused you to fear similar situations or you are scared of the outcomes., limiting beliefs prevent you from experiencing positive new beliefs from forming. I know what it is like to live with limiting beliefs, I know what it is like to be rubbished constantly for just thinking the way I do. I also know what my inner thoughts were when I was abused for just being me. it might surprise you that it was not what you might be thinking. My most inner thoughts were, well hang on, you are not me, I cannot think, walk, talk, or feel the way you want me to , why? Because I am not you. I do not have your DNA, I do not walk, talk, or feel like you, I do not even have your fingerprints, and I sure as hell do not look like you, therefore you’re thinking that my thinking is wrong, is wrong for you, “not me” in the big picture of things, actually holds no real weight. I came across a golden wise comments once from an amazing coach, “William Whitecloud.” He said, If I don’t work for some, too bad I work for me, I added in the extra part, “ I was created this way… I totally resonated with his “Proverb” as I call it. I often use that to anyone who wishes to try and be verbally judgmentally abusive towards me I then smile and just walk away. Hold your own power no one has the right to take it away, and if they do you allowed this to happen and are a part of that creation. Anyone who makes you question your whole being and tries to make you develop limiting beliefs about who you are, has no control over their lives and must control you, I am telling you here and now, the first time any kind of abuse that will make you doubt you, then remove this person/s from your life in one breath and movement. If you find yourself questioning what they are saying, remove yourself instantly away from them, cut all ties instantly and for good, You have the choice to allow yourself to be a part of limiting your belief system thinking, it is as simple as that. TRUST YOUR GUT INSTINCTS You know that feeling we all get when something g does not feel right, or when it fees ls so right, it is whispering that it needs your attention. It’s intuition, and like most things that speak with a quiet voice, if we listen the potential is life-changing. For a long time, intuition was dismissed by science as pseudo-science – sort of science but not really. Really! Fortunately for all of us, science is now on board and researchers have found the part of the brain where intuition does its brilliant best. So how do we sharpen our intuition? !) Be quiet and listen. It’s sounds simple enough – and it is. No tricks here. Your intuition can’t talk to you if you’re not listening. When you start to take notice, good things will happen. Just try it and see. 2) Trust your gut feeling. When a word like ‘gut’ teams up with a word like ‘feeling’, you know there has to be a good reason. And there is. Research suggests that emotion and intuition have a physical presence in our gut. The gut is lined with a network of neurons and is often referred to as the ‘second brain.’ It’s known as the enteric nervous system (ENS) and it contains about 100 million neurons, which is more than the spinal cord and peripheral nervous system but less than the brain. This is why we get ‘sick’ about having to make a tough decision or knowing we’ve made a bad one. 9 Ways to Tap Into Your Intuition (And Why You’ll Want To Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg.53
TRUST YOUR GUT INSTINCTS 3) Feel You’ll know your intuition is there because you’ll be able to feel it – if you let yourself. You’ll feel it in your belly, and it will goosebump your skin, send a shiver down your spine, race your heart and quicken your breath. Sometimes it’s even more subtle and the only way to describe it as a ‘knowing’. You’ll feel when something is right – it will feel clear, nourishing and enriching. And you’ll feel when something is off – for me it’s an ache or a flattening. Trusting your intuition might be difficult at first if you’re not used to it but give it time and trust it bit by bit if that feels better. It will be worth it. 4) Be ready to let bad feelings go. Negative emotions will cloud intuition, which is why when you’re angry or depressed bad decisions can happen so easily. Research has backed this, finding that people made better intuitive choices in a word task when they were in a positive mood as compared to when they were in a negative mood. 5) Be deliberate about the people you hang on to. People who drain you will add to the noise and make it more difficult to hear what your intuition wants you to hear. Chances are that you already know how they are. If not, be still for a moment – your intuition will be trying to tell you. Keep people who enrich and empower you and walk away from those who drain you. Understandably, you can’t always walk away from the troublesome ones and if that’s the case, empower yourself by making it your decision to stay, rather than not theirs because they’ve taken your choice. The difference is subtle in language but big in impact. One lets the power stay with you, one gives it over to them. 6) Pay attention to what’s going on around you. The more information you are able to gather from the environment, the more the intuitive, subconscious part of your brain has to work with – and the more accurately it will inform your decisions. Have you ever wondered if there is an invisible force that connects all of us? If so, you may be interested in looking into the electromagnetic properties of the heart and how they may affect our overall health. In this blog post, we'll explore the science behind the electromagnetic properties of the heart and how they impact our health. Read on to learn more! How the Heart's Electromagnetic Properties Affect Health. Our heart is the most powerful electromagnetic organ in our body, producing its own unique electrical field that is about 60 times greater in amplitude than the electrical activity produced by the brain. This electrical field generated by the heart is known as the Heart Electricity (HE) and it can be measured from outside of the body with the use of electrocardiograms. It has been found that the HE is composed of electric, magnetic, and electromagnetic fields that interact to create an energetic environment around the heart. Furthermore, these fields can interact with distant parts of the body, providing a means for healing without direct contact with affected regions. Consequently, understanding how to utilize this energy has become a major focus in science and medicine, allowing us to explore new ways to promote health and well-being through energy medicine. Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg.55 The heart is an electromagnetic organ. The heart’s electromagnetic field flows out from the body and can be detected several feet away from your physical form, which means it has an influence on your overall health and well-being since it affects the bio-energetic fields of those around you Thereafter, it is clear that the heart is more than just a physical organ. It produces an electromagnetic field that influences the bio-energetic fields of those around us. This means that the health of our heart has a direct impact on our overall health and well-being. Therefore, taking care of our heart is an essential part of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Exploring the Electromagnetic Nature of the Heart. The heart is a powerful organ that generates its own electrical field. This electrical field is known as the heart's electromagnetic field, and scientists have been exploring ways to measure and understand this powerful force. Studying the heart's electromagnetic field can be beneficial in helping us understand how the heart works. It can also help in diagnosing an array of cardiac problems, such as arrhythmia and congestive heart failure. Additionally, it provides insight into how the body's nervous system is performing and regulating the heart's rhythm. Ultimately, understanding the heart's electromagnetic field can lead to better treatments and prevention of certain cardiovascular diseases. WRITTEN BY CHRISTINE BOGERS Soar high today Workshops & Soar High Magazine creator. The heart is an electromagnetic organ that is the most powerful organ in the body. It is 50 times more powerful than the brain, so any negative thoughts can easily be dismissed by the vibration of love, joy, kindness, and gratitude. Connect to your heart first. Photo by Omer Salom
UNLOCK YOUR HEART FIRST Recent studies have found that the electromagnetic field generated by the heart is much stronger than previously thought, and this has important implications for how we understand our physical and emotional health. This electromagnetic field has been measured and analysed using software, which has revealed patterns of energy that can be seen as a reflection of our emotions. The software is able to detect the differences between different emotions such as fear, joy, anger or love. This software can also indicate when imbalances in the heart's electromagnetic field are present and can provide us with a deeper understanding of our own emotional health. In essence, our hearts are powerful electromagnetic organs, capable of producing software-readable signals that can be used to diagnose and treat emotional disorders. By better understanding the electromagnetic nature of the heart, we can gain insight into how this force influences our physical, mental, and emotional well-being Moreover, the heart is a powerful electromagnetic organ which can influence our overall physical, mental, and emotional well-being. By consciously understanding the heart’s electromagnetic field and its relationship with our body, mind, and emotions, we can cultivate an awareness of how these forces can be used for healing and well-being. Gaining insight into the electron-magnetism of the heart will give us a greater capacity to understand how to maintain healthy energy in our lives. Conclusion We have explored the science behind the electromagnetic properties of the heart and how they impact our overall health. There is a lot of evidence to suggest that this energy field has a profound effect on our physical, mental, and emotional well-being. As we continue to research and explore these electromagnetic forces further, we will come to understand the true power of these fields and the limitless potential for healing. The future looks bright for those who seek to unlock the secrets of this invisible force that connects us all. WRITTEN BY CHRISTINE BOGERS Soar high today Workshops & Soar High Magazine creator. Alone, Not Lonely Happy Single Single by choice? You’re not alone. This time has given me a gift to focus on myself and the time for a self-discovery journey. Some people will judge you because of it, saying that you must be unhappy or lonely. I have been single for many years, by choice and I can confidently say that this time has given me a gift to focus on myself, to have time for self-discovery and learning new things. We too often base our self-worth on the opinions of other people. People even judge us for not getting married or having children. No person should live like a monkey in their cage - always having to do the same thing every day! It is very common for people to make a number of assumptions about a single person such as, ”You’re probably not good enough for anyone”, or “It must be your fault that you are still single”. These judgements may lead us to believe that we are somehow incomplete and that there must be something wrong with us if we can’t find someone to love and care for us in the same way we wish to take care of them. Photo by Philip Myrtorp on Unsplash The holidays are upon us and while some will be celebrating with loved ones, others will tune out the world to foster their own personal space. If that’s you—and it could be—it doesn’t have to mean isolation from others. The holidays can be a time for bonding and connecting with those who matter most. Just because you are single during these times, does not mean you need to feel like an outsider. This unrealistic expectation causes us to judge ourselves, which causes us to become less attractive as a partner. This is some level inside us, we feel unlovable, which prevents us from having confidence in expressing our full potential. I am so grateful to be single but will not hesitate to make the best choice for my life and I think it’s going to have to be an adventure a darn good adventure. If I am to meet someone. I have the confidence to not just settle for the sake of others opinions, what an adventure as healthy partners will it be.. Searching for a partner is not the ultimate goal in life. It is possible to have a satisfying and full life without having a partner. You don’t need to just settle because settling is a road to disaster and who really wants this? You are not alone, you have friends and family, therefore you are not really alone, only some times. Embrace life as a gift even if you are single, you have been given this time for you and you alone,. Rejoice in your enlightened gifted time and space for you. Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg.57

t’s not surprising that many health care professionals recommend turmeric to their patients. Of course, everyone is different, and how it works has to do with your age, diet, and existing health. But for many people, Turmeric is a Godsend, as effective as some prescription drugs, but at a much lower cost. Thousands of studies have shown the following benefits… o Supports healthy inflammatory response † o Supports digestion and a healthy gut † o Helps maintain stable blood sugar levels † o Supports a healthy liver † o Encourages deep sleep † o Helps with belly fat and weight-loss † o Supports healthy brain function † o Can support allergy symptom relief † o Encourages elevated mood † However, There's A Problem with Most Turmeric... When people hear that turmeric can help improve their health, many simply start eating raw turmeric root. They juice it, shred it, add it to stir-fries, stews, soups and curries, even throw a little piece in their smoothie. And while all of those are great ideas, you will NOT feel the full effects, and there are two big reasons why… The active ingredient in Turmeric root is called curcumin, but it’s only about 2.5% of the raw plant by weight. That means you would need to eat about a 1/5 pound of it to really feel anything. Turmeric is not highly absorbable by the body on its own. Even if you are eating it by the handful, you need a booster compound known as pipeline (from black pepper) to unlock the full potential and increase bioavailability. That’s why many people rely on supplements because the raw compounds simply don’t have enough potency to make much of a difference. Why Is Daily Turmeric™ The Best? Working with our formulator and lab, we created what we believe is the perfect supplement… Pure turmeric root, Curcumin extract, and Bioperine®, a proprietary pipeline compound that increases absorption by as much as 2100%. Take a capsule with your morning and evening meals for maximum effectiveness. You can even add it to recipes or nut milk to make a delicious Golden Milk Tea, perfect for bedtime or whenever you want to relax. Because it’s concentrated, it’s like eating a handful of turmeric with each capsule, but without any aftertaste or upset stomach. Many people, including our staff and families take this formulation, and we recommend it to friends and relatives looking for a turmeric supplement. Just Pay Shipping and Handling If you go to our home page on the link above and below,, you’ll see that the regular price for a single bottle of Daily Turmeric™ is $49. Tapping Into Your Intuition: The Art of Listening to Your Inner Voice We all have an inner voice that speaks to us in mysterious ways, but it's often difficult to understand. Fortunately, there are ways to tap into your intuition and start to understand the messages it's sending you. In this blog post, we'll discuss what it means to listen to your intuition and how you can use it to make decisions in life. What is Intuition? Intuition is the ability to know or understand something without conscious thought or reasoning; it's like an inner voice that guides us. Learning to listen to your intuition can be a powerful tool in helping you make decisions and navigate life's complexities. Intuition is often thought of as a ‘gut feeling’ but it is so much more than that. It has been said to be one of the most valuable gifts that we can give ourselves, as it allows us to call upon our innate wisdom whenever we need it.. In order to access this wisdom, we must learn to be in tune with ourselves and the signals our body gives us – both physical and emotional. With practice, we can learn how to interpret and decipher this internal dialogue, allowing us to make decisions or even choose a path in life with greater ease and confidence.. This inner wisdom is often overlooked, but tapping into it can bring clarity and confidence in decision-making. gildaloricosmetics.com It's a powerful tool to help us make decisions with greater insight and understanding, so it pays to practice listening to your intuition Finally, there is much to be said for listening to our own inner wisdom. This type of intuition is an invaluable tool that can bring clarity, confidence and understanding in decision-making. While it is often overlooked or ignored, learning to tap into this wisdom can greatly improve the accuracy of our choices. By practicing the art of listening to our innate wisdom, we can make decisions with greater insight and knowledge. Connecting With Your Intuitive Self Connecting with your intuitive self begins with learning to listen to the wisdom of your innermost feelings. When you give yourself permission to connect with your intuition, you open yourself up to being able to access the guidance and creativity within yourself. The art of listening to your innate wisdom comes with practice and it involves tuning into your inner knowing, or “gut feeling”. This is the part of you that knows what’s right for you, even if it goes against common sense or logic. This can involve being mindful of your thoughts and feelings, and paying attention to what resonates within you.. You can also use tools like meditation, journaling, and dream work to tap into your inner wisdom. Developing trust in your own intuitive voice is an essential part of using this wisdom to make decisions in life. Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg.63 Photo by Fabio Comparelli
Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg.64 Listening to that inner voice can help you make decisions that are deeply rooted in understanding what will be most fulfilling and beneficial for you in the long-term, while still taking practical considerations into account. This ability can help you live more authentically and create a life filled with purpose and joy All in all, listening to your inner voice can be a powerful tool to help you make decisions that honour what will bring you the most joy and fulfilment in life. Taking practical considerations into account is also important, but by cultivating the ability to hear and follow your innate wisdom, you will be able to live a life of purpose and authenticity. Honouring Your Intuition Honouring your intuition is a powerful practice that can help you access the wisdom of your inner-self and make decisions with more clarity and understanding. The art of listening to your innate wisdom is something all people should strive to cultivate. It allows us to connect with a deeper part of ourselves that can provide us with valuable insights, understanding and intuition about the events in our lives. Developing this skill requires us to take time out of our day for reflection, mindfulness, and observation of our internal world. As we practice listening, we become more sensitive to inner-urges and subtle changes in our emotional states This heightened awareness enables us to make decisions that are in harmony with our deepest values and purpose. By honing the art of listening to your inner wisdom, you can gain a greater understanding of yourself and the world around you.. Listening to your intuition allows you to trust your feelings and instincts in order to understand what is best for you in life, as it has been developed by your experiences and knowledge gathered throughout life Meanwhile, developing and trusting your innate wisdom is a lifelong process. By understanding how to listen to your intuition, you can trust your feelings and instincts in order to discover what is best for you. Photo by Andy Montes de Oca
Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg.65 Christine Bogers Connecting with your innate wisdom requires practice and patience. It involves learning to quiet the mind and listen for insights that often come in subtle ways. As you cultivate your intuition, you will begin to trust yourself more and more, allowing you to navigate life’s complex decisions with confidence. To do this, we must pay attention to our physical feelings and energies that are present in every moment, learn how to interpret them, and then trust our own awareness of what feels best for us in any given situation. Thereafter, to be able to access and listen to our innate wisdom for everything, we must be mindful of our physical sensations and the energies that surround us. We need to be aware of how these sensations affect us and understand how to interpret them. Lastly, it is essential to have faith in our own sense of judgement and trust that it knows what is best for us in any given moment. With an awareness of the experiences and knowledge you have gathered throughout life, you can better discern when it's time to listen and act in accordance with your internal voice. When it comes to relying on your innate wisdom for everything, practice can perfect this skill. Practicing Intuition in Everyday Life Practicing intuition in everyday life isn’t about ‘going with your gut’ or ‘trusting your first instinct’-- it is about learning to listen to your innate wisdom and use it as a compass to guide your decisions. Innate wisdom is the collective knowledge of your life experiences, embedded in your subconscious mind. It is sometimes referred to as your ‘inner guide’, and it can be used to help us make decisions in all aspects of our lives, from our relationships to our careers. Relationships are rarely as easy or simple as people wish they would be. And unfortunately, in my 37 years as a therapist I can tell you that these challenges affect everyone the same regardless of their age, education, income levels, race or nationality. In the love game, the mistakes and challenges that plague people have more in common with the underlying psychological reasons than some other arbitrary demographic reason. Let me share a few of the more common mistakes: • having unrealistic expectations of the relationship and/or the person you’re involved with • having “unresolved” feelings or pain from the past that interfere with enjoying the present • being overly passive OR overly controlling • having difficulty addressing things directly Focus on yourself. This is extremely important. Often people focus on others and want them to change. You cannot change, control, or fix someone and you are not responsible for how someone feels or acts. You can only be responsible for yourself. Cultivate an awareness of your habitual mental and emotional patterns and reactions so that you know what your internal conflicts and “issues” are and see what you can change. Stop Blaming Others. People will also often start a conversation by saying “you…” and then cite what the person is doing or not doing. This typically results in the listener feeling blamed and becoming defensive and angry and blaming back. Avoid this and again, keep the focus on yourself. Be assertive and direct. If you feel controlled let the person who is being controlling know this and express how you feel when it is happening. Identify what you want and need in your relationship and express these directly. Don’t expect the other person to read your mind. Show appreciation for the person you are relating to and for yourself also. Listen closely to what is being said and reflect back what you heard. Often strong feelings can be evoked when we are communicating about deep personal issues. These feelings can interfere with our ability to pay attention and can also prompt us to want to defend ourselves and/or rebut what is being said. Continue to pay attention to what is being said rather than preparing a defence or rebuttal. • being afraid of conflict and avoiding addressing your real needs or feelings • constantly putting someone else’s needs ahead of your own • constantly trying to “fix” others • misbelieving that someone can “complete” you or make you whole • failing to be honest or honourable in your relationships • communicating in a blaming and shaming manner And of course, there are others. Sexual issues, differing values and being intolerant of differences between you and those that you love to top a very big list of issues that lead to stress in relationships. While there are many challenges thankfully there are also many things that can be done to improve your relationship. These include. Common Mistakes Made in Relationships And How to Rectify Them. Jeff Schneider Jeff Schneider, C N.Y. State licensed clinical Social Worker and Relationship expert has helped people from all walks of life struggling with relationship problems, substance abuse, emotional eating and other addictions, depression, fear, low self-esteem and how to integrate counselling and spirituality. https://www.facebook.com/HealingWellnessCounseling Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg.69
Be patient, maintain eye contact and give your undivided attention when listening Accept constructive criticism. Ask yourself if what is being said to you is true and, if so, see it as an opportunity to make healthy changes. Say ‘because our relationship is important to me’ as you address concerns. Use “I” statements rather than “you” statements. An example of this would be, “I feel angry when you leave your dirty dishes in the sink and your dirty laundry on the floor” rather than saying, “you are such a messy slob”. Set aside time to talk and share regularly. Especially if you are a parent try to set time aside to focus on your relationship with your partner. Ask your partner what they need when your partner says that they want to speak with you. Ask them if they simply want to be listened to and/or whether they would like input as well. Negotiate and compromise. Things cannot always go the way that we want them to. Putting aside our needs, at times, is healthy. Jeff Schneider http://www.healing-wellness-counseling.com Try this exercise, especially when things get heated, when you and/or your partner frequently interrupt one another or when you are simply not hearing and understanding one another-----one person begins and has two minutes to say whatever they want to. At the end of the two minutes the listener, rather than responding to the content of what has been said, says, “what I hear you saying is” and simply repeats what they have heard. They then ask, “is that accurate”? The speaker says yes or corrects an inaccuracy. The listener then takes their turn for two minutes. The process is repeated. Please note that some of the suggestions above do not apply in situations that involve violence and abuse. Under the best of circumstances know that relationships are challenging, and that, as noted above, there are many things that you can do to improve your relationship. If you cannot do this on your own then seek professional help to assist and support you.. Written by Jeff Schneider Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg.62
HOW TO FIND CALM IN CHAOS Human beings are programmed thinkers; therefore, your thoughts are what designs and determines your life patterns., They can bring calm or create chaos, your thoughts are your choices. Upon realizing this, you can take charge and control your thoughts, yes, it can take time to give your quantum mind a new recipe for change, however I encourage you to focus only on the new and good, because your thoughts can create more chaos if you focus on negatives of the situation. You are a powerful being, way so more than you have been led to believe and told. You just need to look at every part of your being, you are a divine creation, every living cell created inside of you, your DNA, just every part of your being is a divine creation. To find calm in chaos, we first need to recognize and value the disorder in our lives. then we can move through the chaos with these 7 easy steps. WRITE THREE THINGS DOWN THAT YOU ENJOY AND ARE CLAM WHILE DOING THEM Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg.63
Connected Relationship Program When I work with clients, both individually and as a couple, or when they participate in my Connected Relationship Program, they speak with me about many concerns. These include: -having communication difficulties -having misunderstandings due to gender differences -being involved in ongoing conflicts without resolution -trying to incorporate more spirituality into their relationship -expressing that they do not feel heard, cared for, supported, or understood -struggling with being intimate. Another very major concern people have is related to money. In addition to their concerns, they also wonder whether they are more preoccupied with it than other folks. And when I work with a couple, they will sometimes question whether they might be overly focused on money and whether they argue and differ more than most couples. People also wonder why they have such difficulties around money. I can say with certainty that money is one of the things that couples disagree and argue about consistently. It is one of the most emotionally charged issues there is and if not dealt with healthily is a source of ongoing conflict, distance, and resentment. If these build up and are not addressed and resolved, it can sometimes lead to divorce and is likely one of the major contributors to divorce. Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg.64
I have found that often there is one person in a relationship that is more focused on saving money and one more focused on spending it now. I explore with them what money means to them. I ask them whether they believe that money represents safety and security or a sense of freedom. Is it to be used to have fun in the moment, maybe in the sense of “we only live once” and “we don’t know what the future will bring”? Whether I am counselling someone individually or two people together I encourage them to reflect on these questions and then to discuss them. Most folks struggle a great deal around money because their money beliefs today are greatly influenced by their early experiences with money. Please take some time to think about those experiences and the messages that you received growing up from your family, teachers, and other significant adults in your life. Were you given messages like, “money doesn’t grow on trees”, “we can’t afford it”, “do you think that I am made of money?”, “we don’t have enough”, “rich people are greedy”. Did you hear your parents fighting about money? Was there a dramatic change in your family’s financial situation when you were growing up? What kinds of messages did you receive growing up about money and how do you think that they continue to affect you today? In addition to your reflecting on these questions I also encourage you to speak with your partner and ask him or her about the messages that he received growing up. After this ask him or her how those messages continue to affect him today. To have a healthy discussion I want to make suggestions regarding communication. Please bear in mind that communication is multi-faceted-it is both verbal, which involves listening and speaking and non-verbal (facial movements, hand gestures and body language). When listening you will communicate more effectively if you: • Listen closely what is being said and reflect back what you heard. Often strong feelings can be evoked when we are communicating about deep personal issues. These feelings can interfere with our ability to pay attention. They can also prompt us to want to defend ourselves and/or rebut what is being said. So, try to continue to pay attention to what is being said rather than preparing a defines or rebuttal. • re patient when listening. Allow the other person to finish what they are saying without interrupting them or talking over them. • Maintain eye contact when you are listening. • Give your undivided attention without looking at a TV, magazine, or phone. • Accept constructive criticism. Ask yourself if what is being said to you is true and, if so, see it as an opportunity to make healthy changes. And when speaking, you will communicate more effectively if you: • Begin by saying ‘because our relationship is important to me’. This is a nice way to affirm that the relationship is important. • Keep the focus on yourself. This is extremely important. Often people start a conversation by saying “you…” and then they cite what the person they are talking to is doing or not doing. This typically results in the listener feeling blamed and becoming defensive and angry and blaming back. Keep the focus on yourself. Often people focus on others and want others to change. See what you can change. • Use “I” statements. Say “I feel _________ “when you do __________ or “when you do _______ I feel _________”. • Focus on strengths rather than weaknesses. • Be direct, open, and honest and speak with kindness and respect. Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg.65
I also have some suggestions that go beyond looking at money from an emotional perspective. Each of you can keep track of what you spend over the course of a month. Include things like buying coffees, snacks, meals out, dry cleaning, haircuts, entertainment, food, gasoline etc. Add these to fixed expenses like mortgage or rent, electric bills, car payments, medical payments etc.. If you own a home identify what you pay per year in school and property taxes and divide this by twelve so that you can see what it equals out to per month. Do the same with homeowners and car insurance. If you and he do this, you will have a sense of what your monthly expenses are. Compare these with your income to get a clearer sense of your financial situation. The figures should help you to understand your reality from a practical dollars and cents perspective that is not (or less) influenced by your money beliefs as touched upon above. You might see by looking at your income and expenses that you are in a better financial situation than you originally thought and that you have the choice to spend money more freely. Conversely, you might recognize that it is necessary to curtail your spending. You might consider outlining a budget and also discussing spending and saving priorities that are acceptable to each of you. Jeff Schneider, a N.Y. Why Accountability is my Each year I chose a word of the year and for 2023 Accountability jumped out to me as the word of the year for 2023. By Gordon Jenkins Accountability Mentor and Global 200 Voice on Leadership. Choosing a word of the year helps me to clarify and focus on who I want to be and what I want to accomplish in the next year. It serves as a mental mentor for me. Simply possessing a word is not enough. It does not mean that my journey through the rest of the year will be easy. It is, however, instilled in me on a daily basis as I question myself. • Is it visible to me and my network? • Am I continuously evaluating my behaviours to ensure they are consistent with the word? • How does it affect my behaviours • How do I feel about it • How am I experiencing it • I am owning it I defined my word of the year as actions speak louder than words and it’s already making a difference. My actions are much clearer, more significant, and more regular. I’m owning my choices. The rewards (yes accountability is all about reward) are accelerating the motivation to succeed. It takes 21 days to form a habit. That means 17 positive habits will be generated in 2023. Embedding a Culture of Accountability Let us begin with a little narrative about four individuals who go by the names Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody. There was an essential task that needed to be completed. Everybody was invited to assist. Everybody was certain Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it. Somebody was irritated since it was Everybody’s job. Everybody assumed Anybody could do it, but Nobody realised that Everybody wouldn’t do it. It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done. I'm not sure who wrote this tale initially, but every time I read it, I say to myself, who wants to work in this sort of culture? A culture of pointing the finger and blaming one another. With a mindset of accountability, there is no blame. Individuals accept full responsibility for their actions and outcomes. To move forward we review, react, and reset. Word of the Year! Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg.70
The primary reason accountability has historically been seen adversely and forced upon. Pressure to do because of someone else’s agenda is not effective or sustainable. It lacks innovation, creativity, and spirals culture one way – downward. I'm sure you've heard of Wordle, the game in which you must guess a word in six attempts. A friend highlighted his children's school ride sharing programme. Everyone is playing Wordle, competing to see who can build the longest string, which families can make the longest string, and whose ride shares have the longest combined string. It's all in good fun, but at the heart of the game is accountability. If you miss one day, your string will be cut off. Accountability. There is no hierarchy, and everyone is aware of their particular responsibilities. Above all, the friend stated that everyone is assisting one another, exchanging information, and communicating. Indeed, ride sharing has evolved into something to look forwards to at the start and end of the day, rather than a time sink for parents. HEAD TO THE BACK OF THE MAGAINE AND SEE GORDONS OFFER FOR YOU How to foster a healthy accountability culture My success is centred around assisting others to making a difference and, in doing so, having a good influence on those around them - creating a better culture. People-blaming does not produce amazing results; accountability, on the other hand, does. I see accountability in a very different perspective to blame. A culture of accountability fosters strong morale, allowing people to take responsibility of their own situations, to take pleasure in their work, leaders to picture their vision becoming reality. According to the Harvard Business Review, in 2020, 82 percent of executives admitted to having "little to no" capacity to properly hold others responsible. According to Gallup, just 14% of employees believe their performance is handled in a way that encourages them. It's no wonder that 69 percent of employees don't believe they're living up to their potential at work. n previous study, 91% of respondents indicated "increasing the ability to hold people responsible in an effective way" is one of their organization's top leadership development priorities. There are several ways to reap the benefits of an accountable mindset both professionally and in your personal life. Written by Gordon Jenkins Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg.71

HYPNOSIS MAKES YOU RECEPTIVE TO CHANGE Did you know that most people fear the idea of hypnosis more than hypnosis itself? Why is that so? It really goes back to that people do not really understand what hypnosis is and the power it has. People think they may go into a trance from which they will not be able to wake up. Others think a hypnotherapist will take control of their mind as part of some master plan. However, I can assure you that neither of these two belief patterns has any merit at all. If you choose to allow yourself to be hypnotized, the so-called “trance-like state” will enable you to enter into a simple state of focused attention. You will find that your mind is in a very relaxed state. This in turn makes it easier for you to accept suggestions and together with suggestions you can also imagine possibilities. To be hypnotized you have to want to be hypnotized. You have to be open to making changes in your life. Remember you are always in control. So, you then want to know how you can use hypnosis. There are many practical applications, and you will find references if you search for it where they document it has assisted with the treatment of: • Chronic pain • Pain during labour • Cystic fibrosis • Headaches and migraines • Snoring • Irritable bowel syndrome • ADHD • Warts and psoriasis • Rheumatoid arthritis • Asthma Written by Julie Lassen Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg.77
I was fascinated to find references to having been successfully used to facilitate dental and surgical procedures without the need for anaesthesia. Yes, really! Do you recall that you catch yourself daydreaming while reading a book or watching a movie or doing other activities - that’s exactly what hypnosis is like. It’s a time when you lose yourself in what you’re doing, and your attention is focused entirely on the act you’re performing to the exclusion of everything else happening around you. So during a hypnotherapy session, the therapist helps you to achieve this daydream-like state in your own way on purpose. It’s a time when you can shut out all external stimuli and direct your attention to a single thought. This then helps you fire up your imagination and switch that part of your brain - your logical conscious mind. At this time, you are most susceptible to suggestions. So, if you have mental blocks or an issue in your life you want to resolve, (it can be mental or physical ) then maybe you would consider hypnosis as a possible solution for you. Look around for a qualified hypnotherapist in your city, and in fact, in any city in the world and you will find someone to support you. Of course, you might prefer to tackle the problem in the comfort of your own home and get the benefits of using hypnosis audio MP3s. Whichever avenue you choose to take, hypnosis could turn out to be your new best friend, what you have been searching for. I have been using the hypnosis MP3 from inspire and it all started with getting a gift to try out. I like to try it before you buy it. A gift for you. http://hypnosislive.com/gift Written by Julie Lassen Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg.78

Despite starting my entrepreneurship journey back in 2014, I never considered myself an entrepreneur, let alone someone who could market my own knowledge online. During my first years as an entrepreneur back then, I mainly offered my services on a freelance basis and despite having a bit more freedom, it still felt I was employed. We all have these limiting beliefs about what we are capable of doing/ achieving. For me that was very much around my limiting belief that I wasn’t made for entrepreneurship, as I did not consider myself someone who could come up with a winning business idea. Yes, sales & marketing had always been my superpower, but somehow I have found it much easier to promote someone else’s products or services vs. these of my own. I had transitioned back in 2013 from a successful job in Hong Kong, where I was the Area Sales Manager for a Major Dutch Company in Homewares overseeing sales & marketing in 14 countries in Asia & Pacific. The most successful products that I sold at that time were high-end garbage cans and ironing tables (in case you’re wondering, yes there are high end trashcans. Although I was successful from a business point of view, I caught myself asking, “Is this all there is for me”. I started to question the IMPACT I was making to make the world a better place. At some point I could not stand the pain and I decided to transition and move back to The Netherlands and change my career. Fast forward, I joined the knowledge industry back in July 2019 and launched my business officially a day after the birth of my second son Dalian. I started out reporting on other people’s knowledge and gradually have transitioned to marketing my own expertise, now running several successful coaching programs, an on-line course a Podcast. I truly believe that the knowledge industry is the greatest industry in the world to be in at the moment. We all have these unique skills and capabilities that we can market How to make a living doing what you love by transitioning from a successful corporate job to the knowledge business. Have you ever questioned if you got what it takes to be successful as an entrepreneur or if you could start your own expert business as a coach, course creator or speaker/author? Have you questioned if anyone would want to learn from you? I for sure did. Danny den Hartog Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg.84
Danny den Hartog just start digging a little and before you know it you will have discovered your hidden gems that you can sell to the world. The process of extraction of these diamonds, is where the true richness is. It may not always FEEL good, but the process of growth, equipping yourself with critical entrepreneurial skills is how you become, as Tony Robbins says: “become more valuable in the marketplace”. It’s hard to condense three years in a brief article, but the one fundamental truth I have found is that your personal brand is EVERYTHING. Most of us think that we need to come up with an amazing company name and then they end up spending years in building that company, whereas it is as simple as registering the URL with your personal name in there and the reality is that you can launch a knowledge business with just your social media profiles. I don’t know of many industries that require zero upfront investment and where there are immediate opportunities to market something that doesn’t even necessarily have to exist. The knowledge can just be in your head, and you just need to be one step ahead in the area that you’re teaching on. I now know tons of people who have made millions of dollars just being one or a couple of steps ahead of others that are looking to embark on similar paths. If this isn’t an exciting prospect I don’t know what is. How great it is to start a business with zero upfront capital and just a social media profile that is required, where you can just be your authentic self and that authentic self will attract the Clients that resonate with your personality and unique abilities. As with most things in life that are worth our pursuits, the most important thing that is required is to actually put in the work and to keep on going. If there’s one piece of advice I can give, I’d give yourself sufficient runway to do this, as for most of us it does not happen overnight. Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg.85
This journey can get lonely at some points, so ideally get yourself a coach and mentor and make use of the various supportive communities out there especially on Facebook and surround yourself with likeminded peers on the same journey. Truth is that often our loved ones or immediate friends and family do not understand what we are doing and frankly they don’t have to. Believe in yourself, believe in your mission, believe that you can actually pull this off and keep going. I personally could not have made it to where I am right now without having various coaches and mentors on my side for the past three years. At the time of writing, I am in Dean Graziosi’s Private Mastermind group with thirty other entrepreneurs and the experience has been mined blowing. But I did not get there by chance, I worked my butt of for the past 3+ years and spend many, many late nights working on my landing pages, offers. Make sure you sell yourself daily on why you are doing this and get hungry, because without that hunger and drive you will not be able to persist. Having a compelling vision helps you to sustain this journey, but ensure you celebrate all the micro-wins in the process. Optimizing your personal Facebook profile for business is a micro-win. Knowing who you would love to serve is a micro-win. Getting in touch with them and start conversations is a micro-win. Celebrate the micro-wins as many micro-wins will lead to the bigger wins that we think we are after. I remember making my first online sale ever. I nearly jumped through the roof when I saw a popup on my phone saying I made a sale of EUR 79. It was that moment when I knew I figured this out. I actually got something working and someone was willing to pay for the service I invented. Many others will have similar stories, it is not about the actual result, but it’s about the feeling it creates. The truth is that in our lifetimes we have experienced that kind of feeling many, many times and intuitively we are looking for more of that. I’d like to encourage you to cherish this journey of growth. This is a remarkable process of self-discovery and growth, that often does not feel great because we fail forward. But as Tony Robbins says, when things get tough, we have a worthy opponent that allows us to build our muscles and come out stronger on the other side. The true beauty of this journey also lies in the encounters with our Ideal Clients. Seeing our clients achieve the transformations we have gone through and celebrating that with them is priceless. Whatever destination you are seeking to move towards, don’t forget to cherish the journey. Live in the process. As Eckhart Tolle says: “Live in the Now”. Finally, as most of us are high achievers, don’t make the costliest mistake of them all, the mistake of sacrificing what matters most in life at the expense of reaching your goals (e.g., your health, your loved ones). Know your values and what is truly important to you. What if we DECIDE to BE that person that we want to become RIGHT NOW. This IS possible! You are destined to live the life of your dreams. You absolutely GOT this! Lots of Love Danny den Hartog Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg.86
Pg.46 YOUR Happiness My wife and I married a little over 3 years ago. After we said those two magical words, “I do,” we left the sight of our wedding, and treated our guests to the meal of all meals - a buffet. Few things help to bring joy to the people around me than the option to choose what (and how much) they want to eat. As we were standing outside the restaurant, waiting for everyone to get there, we were talking to my new Parents-in-Law. My Mother-in-Law looked me right in the eye, then with a head nod toward my wife, she said, “Thank you so much for making her happy.” I then looked her right in the eye, gave a slight shrug of my shoulders, and said to her, “I’m sorry, but that’s not my job.” Taken aback, a glare started to form in her eyes. So, I quickly continued, “I’m of the opinion that no one, and I mean no one, can make us happy. We are responsible for our own form of happiness. Others can contribute to, or take away from our happiness, but we have the choice to make ourselves happy.” With a somewhat satisfied nod of her head at my further explanation, she understood the point I was making. Happiness is often misconstrued and maligned by those who “just aren’t feeling it.” Some find it unattainable. It has also been described as a big wide smile, or a feeling of satisfaction in a moment. But it is so much more than that. Quite simply, happiness is an emotion; like any other. It has its up and downs. It comes and it goes. Many define it as a “state of being happy,” which is a tad oversimplified. 3 Keys to Understanding YOUR Happiness Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg.87
There are several forms of happiness, and there are ways to make it a bigger part of your life. I have found three simple keys to understanding my own happiness, and I would love to share them with you. 1. Happiness is a Choice I know. It sounds smug. So smug that as soon as some of you saw that line, you stopped reading. If you are still reading, there’s obviously more to it than a simple platitude. That simple phrase above often garners one of two extreme responses: A: “It’s not that simple! For instance, depressed people can’t “choose” to be happy…” OR B “You’re darn right it’s a choice! I don’t know why people can’t just be happy.” I’m more of a seeker of the middle ground. And there’s also a huge middle ground between those extremes. There’s that middle ground where we can find a mutual understanding in seeing where a person might obtain their happiness. We can also see what leads to someone feeling unhappy and how we can help them in those low moments. Happiness the ultimate “inside job.” There are times in your life when you have chosen to be happy. Were you happy when you graduated from school? Were you happy seeing your child on stage during their first school play? What about when you said, “I do?” Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg.88
Pg.48 HAPPINESS There have also been times when happiness has eluded you. When your best friend told you their spouse cheated. When your kid made a mess everywhere, even though they knew better. When you had to make the choice to go separate ways from a partner with whom you were no longer compatible. Happiness is not an “all of the time” thing. Anyone who says they are always happy is lying to themselves and to you. Or they have something wired in them that doesn’t recognize emotion. And that’s not healthy. When a loved one dies, a person is not going to be in their “happy place” immediately. Depending on the relationship with the deceased, it may take time to restore that joy again. By giving themselves a chance to grab on to the cherished memories created with the one who has passed, it can put a person back on track in finding their happiness faster than holding on to the grief of the passing for an indeterminate period of time. Allowing oneself the proper time to grieve is a highly personal choice, and one I would never dishonour or rush. When my Dad took his life over 20 years ago, I knew there would be many lingering thoughts that would affect my happiness., and there were. But after allowing myself the proper time to grieve, I started looking to the lessons and principles he shared with me. One of those principles was the power of choice over many of our emotions. Those lessons helped me step back into my own happiness, while honouring him and his memory. And when I found that happiness again, it became my mission to teach others that they can be happy as well For some people, a brief burst of happiness can be found in pictures of puppies or videos of laughing babies. For others, a peaceful setting on a lakeside dock or a memory of Mom’s apple pie can bring them a fleeting sense of joy. And that leads us to our next key. 2. Your Happiness is YOUR Happiness As I mentioned previous, my dad decided to end his life, and took action on that decision. There were many factors that led to his decision, and I came to terms with that decision and action years ago. In the weeks and months following his death though, many well-wishers offered comfort and condolences, but it can be hard to accept those words as you’re trying to navigate the maze of post-death work. Planning the funeral, writing his eulogy, the legal stuff, probating his will, etc…it all took its toll as I was trying to do all of it while figuring out how to mourn the death of my hero, my best friend. THE CHOICE IS IN YOUR HANDS AND MIND Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg.89
All of that led me down the path of understanding my own happiness, and that is when I discovered that it really is an individual job. A lot of my happiness came from memories of my dad. Playing catch in the backyard until it was too dark to see the ball. His beaming pride when I graduated High School. He attended every concert and performance while I was in school. After I left to go to college, we talked every single Sunday until his passing. Even after I enlisted in the Army, our Sunday chats still happened…sometimes for 4 hours or more, no matter where I was in the world. So, when he was gone, there were no more Sunday talks. No more advice. No more ability to share my accomplishments with him. You’ll also notice that not once have I said my dad “made” me happy while he was alive. Yes, he was a large source of my happiness, but that’s because I chose to focus on those pieces of him and his memory that contributed to my overall happiness. By the time of his passing, I had two young daughters who have filled me with an intense sense of pride. They’re both grown now. I even have a couple of awesome little Granddudes. They are also major contributors to my happiness. All of it, my wife, my kids, my memories, they all fuel my happiness. And that’s the key; MY happiness. My memories of Dad don’t make you happy. My Daughters and my Granddudes don’t make you happy. My marriage doesn’t make you happy. Yet, the things that contribute to your happiness belong to you. Your family and friends. Your work. Your mission. Your spirit. Those can all be part of what gives you that feeling of happiness. Whether you choose to even be happy or not? Well, that belongs to you too. No one gets to tell you what leads to your happiness. And no one gets to tell you to even be happy. Therefore, happiness very personal and individual to you. You get to decide what factors into your happiness. Understanding My Own Happiness. I discovered that it really is an individual job. Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg.90
3. Your Happiness is Worth Sharing A few months ago, my wife and I decided to take an impromptu trip to Florida to check something off my bucket list. We flew on one of the worst-rated airlines in the United States. Oddly enough, we had an amazing experience on the flight to Florida and our return trip back home.. But why? I think part of it rests in the fact that when we got to the airport at 4:30 AM, we had smiles on our faces. When we got to the ticket counter to check our luggage, we found that our bag was 4 pounds over the weight limit. Did the ticket agent charge us the USD $75 overweight bag fee. No, she didn’t. Did we leave her with a smile as we headed to our assigned gate. We sure did. When we boarded the plane at that ungodly hour, we shared our smiles and our happiness with the flight crew. Again, why? Well, mostly because we were on vacation. We also shared them because before the crack of dawn, let’s face it, most families aren’t in the best of moods – even when they’re flying to the home “The Happiest Place on Earth.” So, if we could share our happiness with the crew, maybe we would be those “weird” people who actually enjoy our time away from the grind back home. Like I said, it was a great flight…yet that one particular airline often rests near the top of all lists when it comes to customer complaints. Interesting. We had the same flight, we had the same crew, and the same journey as the other 200+ passengers on board. Could our sharing of our happiness with the crew have had something to do with it? That’s for you to decide. The most interesting part of the trip to Florida came when we went to check in at our hotel. We made our reservations through one of those internet booking websites, so this was really a timeshare resort masking itself as a hotel. Instead of the desk clerk giving us our room key, she had us go to another desk, where they, instead of just handing your keys to you, ask if you’d like to attend a “90-minute presentation,” as they entice you with a bunch of “freebies.” As the agent was pitching all the cool benefits we would get by attending the presentation, and seeing our reluctance, she stopped mid-sentence and excitedly asked, “Are you guys always so happy?” The question struck us as odd. So, I said, “Ummm, we’re on vacation. Aren’t we supposed to be happy on vacation?” Her response floored me. “You’d be surprised how grumpy people are when they come here to check in,” she said. Her co-workers behind the counter all nodded in unison and in agreement. I asked her why and she started regaling us with stories of people coming into the lobby, kids in tow, being dragged across the floor, already tired of the trip to the resort. She told us of people who were running 3 minutes behind schedule on their itinerary, so they decided to take out their frustration on the hotel staff – the staff who had nothing to do with them being late. It continues to amaze me just how unhappy many in our society continue to be. We had a great trip to “The Sunshine State” and we’ll definitely go back. Again, did our willingness to share our smiles and happiness have anything to do with our experience? It probably did. Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg.91
Photo by Persnickety Prints on Unsplash Before you think I’m one of those weirdos who walks around life with a stupid smile on my face all day, let me assure you, I’m not. Our trip to Florida wasn’t all rainbows, lollipops, and unicorns. Of course, there were frustrations. Like when we didn’t have the proper toll for the stretch of road we travelled from the airport. Or when we realized we were getting overcharged at the rental car counter. It was far from perfect. But we chose to not let those little frustrations ruin a dream trip. I believe that in our happy moments, we have an obligation to share a bit more of our happier selves with others. We can then hope that in our down times, others will share their happiness with us. Kind of a “Circle of Happiness” thing. Really, at the end of the day, the foundation of happiness rests within us all. We all have things that contribute to our happiness, and we also have things that bring sadness to our door. By building on that foundation of happiness, it allows us to come out of those sad times a little quicker, and with a little more grace. I do want to remind you that just because happiness is a choice and an individual job, we don’t have the right to force our happiness on others. Walking around a hospital, skipping down the hallways, being all chipper and saying things like “Chin up, Buttercup” isn’t probably going to win you any popularity contests. But sharing a simple smile can go a long way. In my teen years (not always life’s happiest times), Dad and I visited a bank. I thought he was flirting with the teller at the drive-thru window. He was simply being kind because he saw that she wasn’t her normal, bubbly self. He didn’t say anything inappropriate at all. But my teenage brain couldn’t comprehend the line between flirting and being kind. So, when I confronted him about his flirting as we left the parking lot, he gave me a sideways glance while driving, and said something utterly profound to me. I try to emulate this motto all these years later. Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg.92 SHARE HAPPINESS I believe that in our happy moments, we have an obligation to share
He said, “I don’t know that teller’s life situation. I don’t know if when she gets home, she will be greeted by a screaming family. I don’t know if everything is going swimmingly at home for her. But none of that really matters when it comes to my interactions with others. What it comes to is this, if I can be the reason at least one person smiles today, then my day is complete.” A simple motto worth sharing…and living. H H ypnosis Your Brain Can’t Lie: The Science Behind Hypnosis. The question of whether hypnosis is real or not has been a hot topic of discussion for over 200 years. Yes it’s been a question asked over and over again. Now there is exciting new research in the field of brain studies which is now settling the argument once and for all!. Read a Good Book Lately: Then, Welcome to Hypnosis! Have you read a really good book lately? You might feel like you lost yourself in it. Anytime you have lost yourself in a book you already have been close to a hypnotic state. Let’s talk about what really happens when you get into a book. 1. You feel incredibly relaxed. 2. You have amplified your sense of imagination; and 3. You are more open to receiving and acting upon the suggestions from others. Yes, you guessed it! This is exactly what happens during hypnosis. It’s known as a trance state. Going Deep! Your Subconscious Mind in Action To understand what’s going on when we are in a trance state, we need to first define the difference between conscious and subconscious mind states. Let’s start with your conscious mind. Your conscious mind is associated with the left hemisphere of your brain. You could say it's a “control centre”. It operates on deduction, reasoning, and convention. It also tells you what’s possible and not possible based on your past experiences. On the other hand, your subconscious mind is aligned with the right side of your brain. The right side is responsible for creativity, freedom, and emotion. It is seen more as holistic, emotive, and universal. It also allows you to go beyond “reason,” and frees you from the convention. What the researchers believe is that trance states are activated when you are able to circumvent the inhibitions and Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg.104
walls set up by your conscious mind and begin accessing the subconscious. You can look at this as its “short-circuiting” the inhibitions you might have. Or all those can not’s and can't that your conscious mind has set you up with. If you want the science read this: Scanning Rhythms: Your Brain Can’t Lie But is there science to support this hypothesis? Using electroencephalographs, or EEGs, experts studying the effects of hypnosis on the cerebral cortex have documented that activity in the left hemisphere of the cerebral cortex decreases during hypnosis. At the same time, brain activity in the right hemisphere increases Why is this important? It shows that hypnosis is able to pacify the conscious mind and its logical and “limiting” functions. ] At the same time, it also shows that the subconscious mind – with its creativity, emotiveness, imagination – takes control. These findings prove that something researchers long believed to be true about the effects of hypnosis are indeed accurate. “A Trance State Sounds Pretty Awesome: How Can You Turn It On?” So, you want to know how hypnosis activates this trance state? Very simply researchers believe that hypnosis calms your left brain and conscious mind. With your logical self-taken out of the picture, you’re more able to directly connect with your subconscious mind. When in this state you are highly suggestible. In other words, you’re able to believe, enact, and go for things that your conscious, logical mind might have kept you from believing you could do. It allows you to free yourself from convention, from being limited based only on the outcomes of your past experiences, and to experience the world and yourself in it in new and powerful ways. Consider that hypnosis can help you: • boost your confidence • increase your brain power • aid in weight loss • increase your money-making potential • take you to places you Photo by MK Hamilton on Unsplash never believed you could go (much like that feeling you have when you’re reading a great book). I believe it’s good news that by short-circuiting long-held self-beliefs and deep-seated behavioural patterns, hypnosis can often deliver real-world results that simply cannot be achieved in any other way! This happens all because your brain allows you to believe in yourself in new and empowered ways. Sites like Hypnosis Bootcamp offer great resources for anyone looking to learn more about the current benefits and newest applications of hypnosis. I believe (thanks to the researchers), the world of hypnosis is able to unlock doors beyond our comprehension … but still within the reach of science. To be sure, this is an exciting time to be alive! Please check the link: https://hypnosisbootcamp.com/gift/a/success4all Written by Julie Lassen Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg.105
Kistner Institute Coming in 2023, The Kistner Institute is launching an online course for the newest paradigm in manual therapy, Total Body Stabilization (TBS). The course is accompanied by a new book and course manual, Total Body Stabilization. This course is for professional therapists and bodyworkers as well as the lay person wanting to learn hands-on modality for helping others TBS is a gentle revolutionary approach that focuses on the brain/nervous system to correct and prevent musculoskeletal disorders After years of clinical observation, I started to understand that muscle tightness, causing a limited range of motion that eventually leads to pain, is merely a symptom of underlying joint instability. Eliminating areas of instability throughout the body results in pain reduction, prevention of injuries and increased athletic performance. The Total Body Stabilization course will teach you: • The step-by-step process of how to conduct a total body screen • How to implement proprioceptive muscle testing to identify positions of instability • Why feet play a key role in stabilizing the rest of the body and how to gently stabilize the foot • The role footwear plays in stabilizing the body Total Body Stabilization (TBS). KISTNER INSTITUE The Kistner Institute is delighted to introduce a completely new approach to health and wellness. There is a growing body of research that indicates that certain frequencies offer beneficial therapeutic results when exposed to the body. As humans, we are living energy and we have a frequency. All aspects of our lives, health, and illness, operate according to the laws of quantum physics. Frequencies are the best tools for regulating our health and well-being. Experts, with the help of state-of-the-art nanobiotechnology, have managed to imprint the frequencies into silicone (quartz crystal.) This opens up a whole new branch of physiotherapy devices that are simple and affordable for anyone. At the Kistner Institute, we use a proprietary process to imprint healing frequencies into quartz crystal sand that is embedded on the K-Chip®. The crystals act like a mini-capacitor, capable of storing and delivering a set of bio-frequencies that naturally restore balance to the body’s energy field. Our research has shown that when the K-Chip® is applied to the left shoe under the ball of the foot (the K-1 acupressure point) optimum delivery of the healing frequencies is attained. While we make no claims, our research findings are providing us with many positive results. Our clients have shown improvement in balance, stability, energy, pain reduction and a general sense of well-being. I could start writing this month’s edition on how festive food is high saturated fat, low in protein, low in fibre but you are already aware of that and reading that just triggers an unconscious response of guilt. Your relationship with food and this time of year do have something in common however and it’s not calories - it’s connection. When your mind and body is connected festive food doesn’t leave you feeling guilty or end up in being stored as body fat. You’ve been led to believe that your food choice equals your body shape, but this just isn’t true. Your body and how you view it is a combination of the experiences you had throughout your life, your introduction to food at a young age and how you connect to your mind, body, and emotions and what you make them mean. This festive season I invite you to take a different approach to your festive eating and ask yourself these questions: Your body and how you view it is a combination of the experiences you had throughout your life, your introduction to food at a young age and how you connect to your mind, body, and emotions and what you make them mean. This festive season I invite you to take a different approach to your festive eating and ask yourself these questions: Are you eating from a place of celebration or commiseration? Are you controlling your eating do you don’t gain weight? Are you wronging parts of your body when you get dressed each morning wishing you didn’t have that certain area that brings you down? When you explore how you ate when you were a child - does it bring up feelings of nostalgia with food or were you in an environment that lacked emotional connection? Your relationship with food is based around your beliefs and your satisfaction in life Written by Catherine Sissons Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg.110
Your relationship with food is based around your beliefs and your satisfaction in life When you feel satisfied mentally, physically, and emotionally in your body- your body heals, energy increases, symptoms subside and weight leaves. Diets and structured eating programmes only set you up for failure because they don’t address your unconscious beliefs and feelings of grief, guilt, and shame. They are viewed as the gold standard of having a healthy body, but true health is when you’re in balance mentally, physically, and emotionally.. You don’t need to be perfect to be in balance. All it takes is conscious awareness of how you feel, what you enjoy eating and balancing around it. Your body is an intelligent vessel and when you’ve had life experiences that invoke guilt, shame, or grief your body stores this information in your central nervous system. This has a flow on effect to creating inflammation, sparking symptoms in your health, and causing weight to hold on. As a result, what you feel like eating is reflected how you feel in your body. This festive season take the opportunity to observe your connection to eating and if you judge yourself for your food choices. Judgement shifts when you identify what part yourself your inner voice is coming from. Next step is finding your balance in how you feel in your body, consciously become aware of your triggers and eating deliciously balanced meals. If you’re not aware of how you feel is playing out with your relationship with eating then eating well all the time will be hard to sustain It is like icing a cake while it’s still hot - it just won’t stick. Finding an approach to eating that is guilt free is the most sustainable approach. INDULGE Your Senses Guilt free Catherine Sissons Jan 2023 | Issue 2 pg.111

Scottish Whisky BBQ Sauce Recipe 3 Garlic Cloves 1/2 Small Red Onion 1 Cup Scottish Whisky 2 Cups Tomato Passata 1/2 Cup Apple Cider Vinegar 1/4 Cup Worcestershire Sauce 1/2 Cup Brown Sugar 1 tsp Hot Sauce (or more to taste) 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp pepper How to. Chop the onion and garlic if you plan to strain through a mesh strainer for a smooth sauce, or grate both if you are happy to leave them in. We find it easier to leave it and smooth enough for our tastes! Put in a saucepan with the whisky and allow to simmer for 5-10 minutes until soft. In a bowl mix together the rest of the ingredients and then add to the saucepan once the onion and garlic are soft. Stir all together and then bring to a simmer for around 20 minutes, occasionally stirring so it doesn’t stick. At this stage you can taste the sauce and add more seasoning or whisky if you want a stronger flavor. If adding whisky simmer, a further 5-10 minutes to allow it to burn off the alcohol. Strain out the garlic and onion if you wish to do so. Jan 2023| Issue 2 pg.118 The sauce can be used immediately, cooled, and stored in the fridge for up to 2 weeks, or used as a glaze. For a glaze you can brush over meat and bake/grill or barbeque. How long does the Whisky BBQ Sauce last? If you’re not using your Whisky BBQ sauce straight away then you can store it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 10-14 days. We think you’ll eat it before then though! What types of Whisky can you use? We like to use a peaty Scottish Whisky for a Smokey sort of flavour, but you can use other types of whisky too.

Smoked BBQ Potatoes INGREDIENTS 8 potatoes, preferably Yukon Gold 1 cup bacon grease softened but not melted. 2 tablespoons dried sage 2 tablespoons granulated garlic. 2 tablespoons dried parsley 2 tablespoons kosher salt, or sea salt 2 tablespoons freshly ground black pepper. 2 tablespoons brown sugar 2 tablespoons paprika METRHOD Gather the ingredients. Wash and dry potatoes. Rub warm, soft bacon grease into the skin of each potato, covering completely. Mix the rest of the ingredients together in a small bowl. Roll each potato in the herb mixture, making sure to cover it completely. Puncture each potato several times using a fork. Place the potatoes on the hot grill in a smoker, and smoke for 1 hour at 250 F, turning once. Remove potatoes from the smoker and wrap each in a double layer of heavy-duty aluminum foil. Seal the foil and place back in the smoker for another 1 to 1 1/2 hours or until the potatoes are tender in the center when poked with a knife or skewer. Jan 2023| Issue 2 pg.121 Variations If you skip the step of wrapping the potatoes in foil, their skins will have a crunchier consistency. These are always the hit of the party. If you would rather skip the bacon grease and use something plant-based, you can use vegetable shortening instead. We suggest a good amount of fat on these potatoes, and it needs to be thick enough so that the herbs will stick to them, so olive or vegetable oil might not quite work for this recipe. If you do not have access to a smoker, a charcoal grill will work just fine.
Smoothie Orange Carrot Cake INGREDIENTS 1 cup almond milk 2 small carrots, grated. ¼ cup Greek/natural yoghurt or coconut yoghurt for dairy free 4 large oranges 1 tsp baking powder ½ cup of raw organic honey 2 bananas, mashed. 4 Tbsp chia seeds ½ cup of sunflower seeds ground down to powder 1 cup of Chickpea flour ½ teaspoon cinnamon ½ tsp vanilla extract ¼ tsp nutmeg powder ½ tsp of mixed spice ICING I do an orange and lemon sugar glaze. 2 cup of icing sugar and one orange juiced, in a saucepan on low heat until liquid and clear. I pour over the cake and let cool, then place on plate and add decorations of choice, Serve with fresh cream. Photo taken by Kamran Aydinov This recipe was given to me by a neighbor up the road who was form turkey when I lived in Sydney. It is to die for, it is up to you how your dress the top, you will see the way she taught me to do it below. METHOD Wash oranges thoroughly with skin on. Boil oranges in water for 10 minutes. Drain, then repeat twice more. (i.e., 3 x 10 minutes) The purpose of this step is to remove the bitterness from the white part of the rind – if you skip this (and there are some recipes that do) then the cake will be bitter. Slice oranges and remove seeds; then, roughly chop – no need to be meticulous here, it’s just to help it blitz faster. Blitz for 3 x 10 second bursts on high, scraping down the sides well, until you no longer see the large lumps and it’s looks like jam. Removed once blended into a large bowl. Fold in the rest of the wet ingredients. Fold in all the dry ingredients until blended well. By hand. Pour into a lined cake pan – 1 x 23cm/9 ( cake will be 4cm/ 17” tall) or a 2 x 20cm / 8 ( cake will be 3 cm / 22” tall Bake for 60 minutes until the cake is golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool in the pan – it’s too fragile to remove while warm. The cake will shrink, but do not worry about this. . Jan 2023| Issue 2 pg.122

Peach Grilled Salad. Place the pecans, honey, curry powder, and sea salt in a small frying pan and bring them to a boil over medium-high heat. Boil until the pan is dry, about 2 minutes. Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the butter to prevent the pecans from sticking together. ¼ cup pecans, 1 tablespoon honey, ½ teaspoon curry powder, ¼ teaspoon sea salt, 1 teaspoon butter Preheat your barbecue to high. Cut the peaches in half and remove the pit. Then cut each peach half into three wedges. Place the peaches in a medium-sized bowl and toss with the oil. Grill the peaches for 2-3 minutes per side. Remove them from the grill using an offset spatula – this works better than a regular spatula and helps prevent the grill marks from being left on the grill. 4 ripe but firm peaches, ½ teaspoon avocado oil Place the arugula in a large bowl with goat cheese, curry pecans, blueberries, and grilled peaches. JUST WHEN YOU THOUGHT YOU WERE AT THE END, WELL THERE IS NO END WHEN LIVNG LIFE, LIFE CHANGES, THERE ARE MANY SEASON IN OUR LIVES, WE JUST NEED TO CHOOSE OUR WHY. Jan 2023| Issue 2 pg.147
WHAT IS YOUR WHY? FIND YOUR PURPOSE IN LIFE “Nothing gives a person inner wholeness and peace like a distinct understanding of where they are going.” – Thomas Oppong Do you ever question why you are here on earth, your purpose in life? Some of us go through life, searching for our “why” - for the purpose in life, our existence.. There are some who have successfully identified their why, yet steer away from their purpose, Others stumble through life just not knowing,, existing as though this is it, without even questioning, their purpose, their existence. Don’t let the shiny path lead you off your true purpose, your why. your true specific purpose, Question yourself often to keep on your true purpose in life, YOUR WHY. Your life deserves for you to ask this question, What is my Why? In this article “worksheet” a step-by-step guide on how to find your why. I really hope this guide gives you the clarity you seek. Ask yourself this question also, what is it I really want? Like Tony Robbins says, don’t do a to do list, this becomes a blind road of going nowhere, To do lists are preventions for forward progress, this only produce confusion, with lack of momentum. Journaling is different, it programs your system for change. Jan 2023| Issue 2 pg.148
WHAT’S YOUR WHY? Let’s get to why It is important to know your “WHY” Tony Robbins and Dean Graziiosi say’, when you know your why, your life purpose, you will be more capable of pursuing the things that give you fulfillment and all things will flow towards you naturally. Have you ever noticed when you have bought a car, that is different from your normal car purchases. You have never seen this car before in your life, yet suddenly you start to notice and see the same car everywhere. Why is this? it is because your system processor deems this as important, you made the decision, the choice, that this is important, and this is a part reason why you see it everywhere, your superconscious mind produces it as important. When you focus on what you want, time disappears, and the level of joy happens within our system, and all challenges disappear, everything flows with easer. An example is when I choose to paint large 6ft plus art pieces, to remove any stress and challenges in my life. I never think of anything but creating an amazing piece of art. One whole day would disappear before I actually realized it, I had painted the whole day and into the evening, yet it only felt like a couple of hours. See this is the joy of doing what you love when you are fully in the pleasure zone of the choices you make. It feel like you are not working and there is never presented in that moment of focus, no challenges, stresses present themselves in this time frame. You are completely in the pleasure zone of what you love doing, now image if your life was like this when you are living in your true purpose with full joy. Yes, we all have challenges, however the best way to defuse that thinking, is to question, are these challenges really serving any purpose in my life? Then get back to the task at hand. This is one reason why it is so important to really, 100% understand, YOUR WHY. In the following magazines we will take you through and enlightened journey towards you knowing your why, Answer the four questions below to place you on the first step of your why for clarity and you will be able to purse your goals with passion and clarity with deep commitment. Jan 2023| Issue 2 pg.149
FINDING YOUR WHY Understanding your how, starts with your why. 1 What truly ignites passion in you? 2 3 4 What is a good feeling you had once from anything you achieved? NEGATIVE JUDGEMENTS OF CREATION Why are so many people addicted to judging others? Photo by Gift Habeshaw Psychological Reasons Why Some People Are So Judgmental They’re insecure and have low self-esteem. As a general rule, the more insecure a person is about themselves, the more judgmental they’ll be toward others. This might be about personal appearance, social standing, achievement, fitness, health, age, or even behaviour. Those who judge others tend to draw from their own feelings, failings, and personal experiences. If they have been made to feel inferior, unvalued, unwanted, and disrespected in the past, they’ll turn around and display critical and demeaning behaviour toward other people. This is “projection as protection” at its finest. Ultimately, it’s a sign that they’re coming from a place of suffering, and likely have some semblance of an inferiority complex and/or low self-esteem. Since they’re unhappy with aspects of themselves, they’ll target others to make themselves feel better. Basically, they will cut others down, so they seem taller and stronger in comparison. A lot has to do with a person’s upbringing and past experiences. After all, plenty of people can feel insecure about aspects of themselves without putting others down.
