For a life rooted in harmonious synergies responsible co existence 6 1 7 All of us at Cacao Hunters envisioned preserving these centuries old cacao growing traditions of the Kogis Arhuacos and Wiwas So together with them we began the process of recovering what many believe is the most unique cacao on the planet Today we are proud to share with you the White Cacao or Cacao Bunsi It is one of the most coveted cacaos in the world and as far as we know it can only grow here For centuries the people of Sierra Nevada have made it their goal to harmoniously coexist with the land They too have been affected by Colombia s internal conflict but decided long ago not to let that hamper their positive view of life 2 These indigenous groups thanks to the guidance of their ancestors have strived to ensure that how they view their partnership with the land is also a part of how they work with others 3 During the Spanish invasion many fled to the southern areas of Sierra Nevada leaving their 2000 year old traditions and native cacao behind 4 During Colonial times they began cultivating cacao again only now an average cacao had been introduced forcing the overall quality to suffer 5 Most recently this enchanting region has been affected by the cultivation of Coca leaves led by drug cartels thus impeding the growing of exotic agriculture crops that have historically been the main livelihood of the native communities 8 By earning and retaining the confidence of these extraordinary communities we are able to bring a matchless chocolate to the world On a personal note what we have learned from all these communities has been truly life changing Over the past several years we have been working towards establishing a long term equitable partnership with all the communities in Sierra Nevada Alongside of them we are improving each other s well being increasing efficiencies in farming and productivity and most importantly ensuring tomorrows generation can be a significant player in living and preserving their way of life CHOCOLATE CHARACTERISTICS Today our partner farmers grow an exceptional fruit that gives life to a 64 chocolate with notes of red fruits citrus cinnamon and panela It is the highest coastal mountain range in the world brings this uncommon cacao to the markets and their opportunity to savor distinctive notes are lemon and green grapes Our Sierra Nevada chocolates are especially created to consume as a snack or dessert as well as the principle ingredient in your hot chocolate Imagine a chocolate with palate notes offering a combination of red fruits citrus cinnamon honey and molasses It s never been about the chocolateTM
