SHE began in 2019 as a celebration of the contributions and artistry of women in music throughout the month ofMarch by students, faculty, and large ensembles at the University of Arkansas. In the spring of 2022, the SHEcommittee decided to share the event nationally to bring talented individuals together, creating a space oftransparency and support surrounding female identity in music. It has since reached international acclaimwelcoming artists from Europe, Canada, and South American. The 2025 SHE: Festival of Women in Music includes performances and lectures focusing on the careers andmusic of those who identify as non-cis-male. The festival has brought over one hundred guest artists andlecturers to campus and continues to feature University of Arkansas faculty and students.Moon-Sook ParkIntroductionCommittee MembersMelanie FerraboneAmanda Lenora Green-TurnerTheresa DelaplainKatey JahnkeCatalina OrtegaSarah HetrickCristina Ballatori Amy Cooper

I am delighted to welcome you to the University of Arkansas’ 2025 SHE Festival of Womenin Music! The SHE Festival has been one of the musically busiest and most exciting times of the yearfor our campus. In 2019, the festival’s first year, there were an impressive 8 recitals as wellas 1 lecture and 1 play. Year two had 15 concerts. Along with each success has come arealization of how much music and how many composers and ideas there are to explore. Now, in Year seven, there are 28 individual recitals, 4 group recitals, 18 presentations, 7lecture-recitals, two guest artists, and vendors bringing over 100 people to our campus. One of the greatest rewards of each successful Festival is, not just what is learned andcelebrated over these three days, but the desire to learn and celebrate more over the nextyear and at the next festival. The SHE Festival fits beautifully into the theme of “Bridging Differences” that ourdepartment has explored through concerts and lectures over the last two years. One ofthe most basic differences we can bridge involves our attention. By spotlighting thecontributions of women musicians, we can make connections that allow us to betterappreciate all that music has to offer. Thank you to all the organizers of, and participants in this year’s program. I hope thateveryone has a great festival.Alan GosmanChair, Department of MusicMessage from the Chair
