Kirli Saunders OAMWe are honoured to have award-winning authorand poet Kirli Saunders return to Pymble Ladies’College to speak with Years 2 and 9. A proud Gunaiwoman and NSW Aboriginal Woman of the Year(2020), Kirli is a passionate advocate for thecelebration and sharing of First Nations languages,culture, and Country through the arts. Her books,including Returning (2023), Our Dreaming (2022),Bindi (2020), and Kindred (2019), beautifullyillustrate her commitment to sharing thatconnection with readersMonday 31 MarchCupcake decorating with Barbette’s Feast Join the amazing Barb La Ganza for a hands-onworkshop decorating cupcakes with fondant to tellyour story. Barb's avid love of food came from herfather and she became a frequent mainstay in thefamily's kitchen in her childhood. Her passion forfood continued to grow and not long aftergraduating from an architecture degree, Barbjumped head first into a career in food instead. In2005, she took another big leap and started herown catering company, Barbette's Feast. Fromevent catering to teaching cooking classes, Barbhappily shares her love and passion for food withthe community. RA SprattWe are incredibly excited to give a warm welcometo R.A. Spratt who is coming to Pymble Ladies’College to speak to Years 4 and 7. Rachel is a best-selling author, television writer and podcast host,best known for the Friday Barnes, Nanny Piggins,and The Peski Kids series of books - as well as herpopular podcast Bedtime Stories with R.A. Spratt.Rachel has also had extensive experience writingjokes, sketch comedy and political satire. Year 7-10 students can sign up HERE to attendRachel’s writing workshop on Wednesday, 2 Aprilin Period 5 (please make sure you do not have anyother commitments such as exams, assessmentsor excursions on). Tuesday 1 AprilLiving LibraryThe K-6 Libraries will once again be hosting avibrant Living Library at lunch time. Members ofthe Pymble community will be presenting storiesthat can be told with their hands and sharing theskills associated. The program features an excitingarray of ‘stories’ including balloon animal making,calligraphy, bongos, and textiles. Junior Schoolstudents will be sent a special sign-up form. Wednesday 2 April

Thursday 3 AprilSafia ArainAustralian actor of Pakistani descent and formerPymble Ladies’ College student Safia Arain will bejoining us to share her story and her journey toscreen success with Years 11 and 12. Born inEngland but growing up in Sydney, Safia’sgrandparents migrated to Australia from Pakistanin the 1970s. Safia is strongly influenced by herheritage, her Muslim faith and the healing power ofstorytelling. She has appeared as a regular in 4seasons of the series Bump (2021), and is alsoknown for Underbelly: Vanishing Act (2022), TheLast King of the Cross (2023), and Towel Head(2021). Most recently, Safia starred in the ABC TVseries House of Gods (2024), and we are delightedto have her also sharing her expertise with Year 10Drama students.Dr Jeanette Nguyet PhamWe are honoured to have scientist and authorJeanette Nguyet Pham as a guest speaker at theEmpower Lunch on Thursday, 3 April at lunch. Shemade the difficult decision to leave her life inVietnam as the conflict in her homeland grew moreand more fierce. Fleeing on the the last plane toleave Saigon, Jeanette arrived in Australia as arefugee, rebuilt her life here as a scientist, andmade an unexpected but exciting scientificdiscovery. Her book The Goat Milk Baby chroniclesher journey navigating early differences andovercoming the challenges that life threw at her. Kyra GeddesPymble Ladies’ College is honoured to announceauthor Kyra Geddes is coming to visit us to talkabout her debut novel, The Story Thief, amultigenerational historical fiction and feministretelling of Henry Lawson's classic Australianstory, The Drover's Wife. Born in Adelaide as thedaughter of German immigrants, Kyra spent herchildhood in opal fields in South Australia beforemoving to Sydney. Following a successfulmarketing career, Kyra returned to university tostudy English to pursue her life-long dream ofwriting.Kyra will be sharing her story with EnglishExtension 2 and History Extension students, aswell as staff at LUNCH in the Conde Library onFriday, 4 April.Friday 4 AprilConde Craft - Sharing Stories editionCome and make a story globe in a special CondeCraft to celebrate the wonderful array of storiesthat fill the world.
