Yeshivas OhrYechezkelWisconsin Institute forTorah Study
WITS is committed to transmitting our time-honored Mesorah to thecontemporary Talmid. We instill within our Talmidim the ideal that Torahlearning and Mussar are life long pursuits. The educational program is founded in academicexcellence and high expectations. We promote the spiritual growth and personaldevelopment of each Talmid. Our goal is to produce positive and well balancedB’nai Torah.WITS, with a student population of over 100 Talmidim in its Mesivta and Yeshiva Gedola, is committed to providing theserious student with an excellent Yeshiva education combined with an uncompromising General Studies program, setin a warm, nurturing environment.
The Chashivus for Limud HaTorah demonstrated by our Talmidimsets an academic and social tone within the Yeshiva and dormitory. In addition to the nightly Seder, a large portion of our Talmidimattend a voluntary Seder that follows. It is geared toward learningthe Perakim in the Mesechta that are not learned in the regularShiurim. The Seder is overseen by Rabbi Dov Wender, one of ourBekiyus Rabbeim. Some Bochurim take advantage of thisopportunity to complete the Mesechta. The Yeshiva also has anoptional High School Summer Zman, mirroring the extendedsummer Zman of our Yeshiva Gedola. This past summer a highpercentage of our Talmidim attended this popular program. Amature, interested and determined Bochur will find manyopportunities to tap into his potential at WITS. The Limudei Kodesh curriculum provides an intensiveand comprehensive learning program with Shiurim inIyun and Bekiyus. The goals of the program includefostering within the Talmid a deeply rooted commitmentto Limud HaTorah through the acquisition ofindependent learning skills in Gemara, Rashi, Tosafos,Rishonim and Achronim. Each evening, the studentsreview the Shiurim together with Yeshiva Gedolastudents at a night Seder personally supervised by theGemara Rabbeim. It is unique to have a Yeshiva High School of fewer than one hundred Talmidim complemented by such a strong and involved Yeshiva Gedola. The presence of such a highly motivated group of Yeshiva Gedola Talmidim greatly enhances a high school student’s experience at WITS. Through their devotion to Torah learning and living – including the time they spend as Chavrusos with their younger counterparts in the high school night Seder – they serve as positive role models for the high school students to emulate. Throughout evening hours and on Shabbosim, Yeshiva Gedola Talmidim can be found learning extra Sedorim with the high school Talmidim. In addition, other opportunities for close association between the Bais Medrash and High School students occur during meals, in the dorm and during free time. In WITS, Bais Medrash Talmidim take their role as “big brothers” seriously.Yeshiva Gedola The Rebbe-Talmid relationship is of paramount importanceto a student’s growth. This relationship transcends subject matter and goes to the heart ofthe real goal of the Yeshiva - the total development of each student. Because each of theRabbeim lives within a short distance of the Yeshiva, students can easily visit on formaland informal occasions and are encouraged to do so. These include Shabbos meals andOneg Shabbos get-togethers. Our Rabbeim convey to each Talmid an appreciation of hisinnate capacity for individual achievement and personal success. Inherent in thephilosophy at WITS is the concept that every young man needs a warm and caringenvironment to reach his full potential. Our Rabbeim are highly regarded for theirpedagogic skills and their ability to connect with their Talmidim.Rebbe-TalmidRelationship
Because WITS regards the foundation of a Ben Torah to be Middos Tovos, students are surrounded by an intellectual and socialclimate which sets as top priority the achievement of refinement of character. Using the Mussar approach for which Yeshiva ChofetzChaim is noted, the WITS Rabbeim convey awareness of personal development to their students through a variety of contexts. Theseinclude the study of Mussar texts, Chumash classes, the weekly Mussar Shmuess, learning groups, and informal, individual sessions. The sense of the priority of Middos Tovos creates a genuine atmosphere of camaraderie among the Talmidim, forming relationshipsof warmth and concern and promoting that special WITS Achdus. WITS is proud of its Talmidim and the “Mentschlichkeit” which theymanifest both in and out of the Yeshiva.Middos
WITS, being a national residential High School and Bais Medrash, servicesTalmidim from across the country. The entire five-acre lakeside campus islocated in a residential district on Milwaukee’s prestigious East Side. The BaisMedrash and Educational Complex houses a large Bais Medrash, classrooms, science and computer laboratories, and educational offices. The main houseincludes the dormitory, library, dining room, and recreational rooms. AllTalmidim, including the Milwaukee Talmidim, reside in the dormitory. Thiscreates a special camaraderie and excellent opportunities to create significantrelationships with Rabbeim, including at regular Oneg Shabbosim. The small, out of town environment allows the Talmid to develop unencumbered bydistractions found in large locales. This 24/7 Torah environment promotes aTalmid’s mature development as a Ben Torah.
