September 25 2020 The ten days of Aseres Yemei Teshuva are a very special time in the year The Rambam writes in Hilchos Teshuva that during this time even the Teshuva of a a private person is readily accepted by Hashem As our have told us the King is in the field Hashem comes to us and will accept any sincere repentance The essence of Teshuva is returning to Hashem reclaiming the connection we had with Hashem prior to the sin This idea is developed by the on the that we say in the Slichos and many times over Yom Kippur The name of Hashem represents His quality of mercy Hashem has mercy on us prior to our committing the sin and is merciful after a person sins and does Teshuva It is understandable why we need Hashem s mercy prior to sinning we want Hashem to so to speak look away 6 17 PM from the fact that we are going to do an aveirah in the near future and treat us the way we are behaving at present with full rachmanus However once we have sinned and done Teshuva why do we once again need that same dose of rachmanus The Meforshim explain that when a person wrongs a friend and later asks for his forgiveness and receives it the friendship is oftentimes no longer on the same level This is not the case with Hashem His relationship with us is identical to how it was before we made the error And we once again bask in that same amount of rachmanus as previously Sept 27 28 Erev Yom Kippur no school Oct 2 12 Erev Succos Hoshanah Rabbah Shmini Atzeres Simchas Torah Isru chag no school Oct 13 regular classes resume Wishing you all a and a Rabbi Ochs The sound of learning is reverberating through both of our buildings Covid 19 impacted everyone s lives and B H we have been able to get back to in person learning with masks and social distancing Students are very involved in learning and preparing for Yom Kippur and Sukkos We know you will enjoy the results A look at the Preschool classes In PreK the students are learning all about the upcoming yomim tovim and are making beautiful projects to help reinforce what they are learning Being new in school they are focusing on learning the rules for school In science the kinderlach are studying about germs They are hand washing experts In conjunction with yom tov they are doing many activities related to apples bees and honey involving literacy math and art Fall just began Learning about fall is another topic that involves all the senses and all the disciplines of the curriculum In Kindergarten students are learning For each letter a child is the Mystery Rebbe or Morah and brings in an object related to the letter They learn parsha each week and have been concentrating on the yomim tovim including preparing beautiful projects The children and teachers are spending time getting to know each other The children are working on literacy learning alphabet letters They have reached the letter C They are able to read their first word cab They know the difference between hard and soft c sounds They studied about caterpillars and metamorphosis They studied about Paul Cezanne and his artwork and practiced crayon resist Each week the classes will connect the letter of the week with literacy and all the aspects STEAM science technology engineering art and math
