3AD DIGESTThe Ofcial Newsletter of the CIAAASEPTEMBER 2023AD Article of the MonthWelcome Back! - Kelle HansenCIAAA President, Mayerthorpe High School, North Central Zone ExecWelcome back everyone! I hope all of you had a restful and relaxing sum-mer break. As we start heading back into our fall seasons for sport across Canada, its important to take some time and remember that even though we are busy and our schedules have become never ending, it is important to remember to take time for yourself. Self-care and time management are the keys for you to survive the craziness of taking on the role of athletic di-rectors. For some of you this is a career path that you chose to take, others will nd they have been “volun-told”. Whichever applies to you, you will nd a career as an athletic director to be very rewarding. The opportunity to give student athletes a safe and caring place to develop their sporting passions, will have long lasting positive benets for those young athletes. I had the opportunity to present at the ASAA’s “New Athletic Director Re-treat” in August. What a wonderful opportunity to see new athletic direc-tors start their careers in a positive way. The engagement was sincerely inspiring to see, and I hope all the participants will continue to grow and learn their craft. The CIAAA is a great organization for learning more about the importance of being a strong leader within your building. Becoming a member gives you opportunities to learn from others who have come before you. Take those opportunities to attend workshops or LTC courses, whether online or in person. If you can, attend the CIAAA National Conference in Regina to engage with other Athletic Directors, it will be some of the most meaning-ful professional development for your role. Have a wonderful start to your school season. Good luck and enjoy!Content:AD Article MembershipsWelcome PackageLTP CoursesNational ConferenceResource of the MonthCoaches Week Partnersciaaa.cainfo@ciaaa.ca1.888.618.4530
