Second Edition Ferring Focus A Message from Hannah Ferring Funders and Friends Welcome to the summer edition of the Ferring Focus Across the Centre we have been enjoying the lovely weather and spending a great deal of time outside We have had a busy few months our p tanque area has been finished and is now being enjoyed by all our new tractor track has been opened for general use and we have all enjoyed our volunteer celebration day and our Summer Celebration Event We are very grateful to GWCA Solicitors who raised an amazing 11 804 66 to sponsor the new Tractor Track in Dales During the Spring we said Goodbye to Simon Head of Operations and took the opportunity to review the structure within the operations team The first Farm The new attraction will encourage more families to visit just in time for Summer GWCA also held their summer gathering at Ferring Country Centre We change was to change the team s name are very thankful for their ongoing from operations to support we have support been recruiting to the new role of Head of Support and look forward to welcoming Dave Payne to the team at the end of the month We have also added into the team structure five senior support worker roles and four team leader roles The Senior Support Worker roles will ensure a consistency on each department within the Centre and the Team Leader roles will focus on specific areas to support our customers Denise Three Forts Challenge which chose to Leah Gemma Gemma Alisha and support Ferring Country Centre again this James are Senior Support Workers year took place on Sunday 30th April and Tamzin Chloe They raised an incredible 6 000 for which Gemma and Tom we are very grateful West Sussex move into the Team Horticulture Club also donated a generous Leader roles We 1 905 66 and ASDA awarded Ferring 400 wish them all the in their recent Green Token scheme very best in their We would like to say thank you to new roles anyone else who has donated over the last Hannah Tombs CEO few months Every contribution big or small makes a huge difference Page 2 Second Edition Ferring Focus Sports News On 17th May 2023 the new P tanque Terrain hosted it s official opening game And what a great day it was blessed with blue skies and warm sunshine Two local p tanque clubs Clymping and Arundel were invited as visitors to play matches against The Seahorses FCC Team Janice Ranger cut the ribbon for the official opening and declared the site open Then the games began The terrain was buzzing with action and all of the FCC teams rose to the demanding situation playing better than they ever had Very sportsmanlike behaviour was displayed throughout the day and the players represented FCC impeccably A Clymping PC team won the competition but a FCC team Bruno Sam W and Daniel also won 3 matches and ended up only 4 points behind the winners Sam J Gemma and Toby were the second placed team of the FCC players Margaret Evans who runs the club commented Well done our brilliant players You were a credit to yourselves and to the Centre Annette and I were very proud of you all Photos from the Summer Celebration continued from page 1 The 18 players who represented FCC were presented with a participation certificate which they were very proud to receive Page 3

Second Edition Ferring Focus Focus on Volunteers Ferring Focus Second Edition 2023 Volunteers Week is a chance to celebrate and recognise the fantastic contribution our volunteers make Jackie Tomlin Training Development and Volunteering Manager 1st 7th June was Volunteers Week A chance for us to say a great big Thank you to everyone who chooses to give up their precious time to help at Ferring Country Centre The contribution of volunteers is often unseen and unrecognised by many visible only through the incredible impact of their volunteering so taking the time during Volunteers Week to celebrate their efforts and all they contribute to the Centre was very important We celebrated our volunteers on our social media platforms every day for the week highlighting the areas where they help and saying Thank you We also hosted a Thank you BBQ and P tanque match followed by tea and cakes Some of our Day Service Customers also made a beautiful display If you would like to volunteer at Ferring Country Centre please look at our website for an application form and to see which roles are needed or email jackie tomlin ferringcountrycentre org Dates for your Diary Date Event Description Saturday 29th July Friday 22nd September Apulstock Quiz and Supper Night A Music Festival aimed at people with learning disabilities and their families Tickets on website Enjoy a quiz while eating delicious food A relaxed fun evening Tickets available on the website soon Page 4 Day Service Summer Celebration The weather drizzled but the BBQ still sizzled on Friday 30th June for the Day Service Summer Celebration The rain could not dampen the spirits of Day Service Customers their families or staff as everyone had an enjoyable evening in each other s company Cool festival style wristbands were used as tickets which everyone enjoyed wearing Inspired Instrumentalists gathered under a gazebo out of the rain and kindly played some jolly tunes as people arrived to help get everyone into the party mood Delicious burgers and hotdogs were eaten happily before the disco started David Payne the new Head of Support pictured above on the far left came along to help with the event and meet everyone He fitted in straight away Some serious dance moves were then displayed on the dance floor as everyone requested their favourite party songs and sang along There was even a conga which snaked out on to the terrace Everyone agreed it had been a really fun evening Please see page 3 for some more photographs from the evening Page 1
