Sustainable Development Goals Week 2024 will take place from20th-29th September. This is Ireland’s 3rd SDG week and it is gainingmomentum year on year. With the clock ticking to the 2030 deadline,it is incumbent that we all play our part in achieving sustainabledevelopment. Public Libraries are identified as key stakeholders in helping toachieve the 17 goals through awareness raising and the NationalPublic Libraries Strategy supports this aim. Offaly Libraries will be doing its part by hosting a range of both publicand school events. Over the course of the week we hope to help children and youngpeople understand the 17 Sustainable Development Goals in an ageappropriate and fun way. This will be delivered through a range ofactivities including workshops for teens, themed storytimes, sustainable crafts and family events including movie nights. We willalso engage with Offaly schools with a gentle introduction to SDGsdelivered online as well as a giant SDG Doodle for children to takepart from their classrooms or as part of a library visit.In-branch book displays and themed bookclubs will also be availablefor adult audiences. The global target for achieving our SDGs by 2030 can only beachieved by collective action. Joining the library is a simple cost freeaction people can take, as borrowing books is a more sustainable wayof reading. Join today online or by visiting your local library.Offaly Libraries celebrateSDG Week 2024
