In 1949, Mount Scopus was established to serve the Melbourne Jewish kehillah as the educational cornerstone of Jewish life, identity and commitment. We proudly continue to honour and advance this sacred mission today and into the future. Rooted in tradition, Mount Scopus fosters Jewish pride and prepares generations to lead with integrity and purpose. Today, we are a vibrant, forward-thinking community that balances a strong Jewish identity with dynamic learning whilst maintaining our commitment to academic excellence, holistic development and community service. At Mount Scopus, we are passionately committed to providing our students with engaging, thought provoking and inspiring learning, based on Jewish values and experiences within a Modern Orthodox and Zionist framework; empowering them to make an informed choice as to the meaning of their Jewish identity and nurturing them to grow into mensches. Motivated by a deep connection to those who came before us, and emboldened by a Mount Scopus Jewish education, our students are equipped to go forth with strength and courage to shape, and take responsibility for the Jewish future. FROM THE Principal Scopus Horizons is our forward view; an ambitious, learning-centred strategy that sets our direction with clarity, courage and community. It represents the horizon we are reaching for: a future where our students are deeply connected to their Jewish identity, engaged in meaningful learning, and empowered to lead with integrity. This strategy was not written behind closed doors. It was co-created through conversations, reflections, and provocations across our campuses, bringing together the voices of students, educators, families, alumni, and partners. The process itself mattered; it was rich, inclusive, and deeply aligned with our values. Together, we imagined the future of Mount Scopus and the role each of us plays in shaping it. At its heart, Scopus Horizons is about choices, the choices we make about how we teach and learn, how we lead and support each other, how we grow sustainably, and how we hold fast to our heritage while innovating for tomorrow. It brings our mission to life through five strategic pillars that focus on Jewish Pride & Commitment, Connection, Contribution & Community, Empowered Learning, Professional Practice, and Sustainable Growth. This is not a plan to sit on a shelf; it is a call to action. It asks each of us to see the horizon ahead and step toward it with purpose—to bring curiosity, compassion and courage to everything we do and to build together a future that reflects our incredible school and the very best of who we are. Chazak V’Ematz, Dan Sztrajt PRINCIPAL, MOUNT SCOPUS MEMORIAL COLLEGE

ScopusHorizons WHAT WE HEARD, WHAT WE’RE DOING Over several months we engaged students, staff, parents, alumni, and partners in a purposeful listening and co-design process. Through workshops, surveys, learning walks and conversations across all campuses, we gathered rich insights into the lived experience of Mount Scopus today and yesterday, and its aspirations for tomorrow. We captured the authentic voice of our community, what people value, what they dream of, and what they believe Mount Scopus can be. We heard that Jewish learning is powerful when it feels relevant to life outside of school, that connection to Israel and Jewish values should remain central, engaging, immersive, and meaningful. We heard students speak proudly of academic challenge and ask for more opportunities to explore, question and be creative in their learning. We heard them describe good learning as “productive, and safe” but call for teachers who “encourage us to explore beyond the curriculum.” We heard that belonging matters deeply, that wellbeing, kindness and inclusion are non-negotiables. Parents shared their pride in our strong Jewish identity and community spirit, while also calling for more regular communication and opportunities to engage in their child’s learning journey. Our staff highlighted their passion for innovative teaching and a desire for greater collaboration, clarity and professional growth. The values we live by—integrity, compassion, inclusion and curiosity—must be visible in every classroom, corridor and conversation. Scopus Horizons is our response. Shaped by the voices of our community and grounded in insight and evidence, it charts a path forward through five strategic pillars that anchor us in our identity and push us to grow. Scopus Horizons is more than a strategy; it is a reflection of what we have heard from our community and a commitment to action. Each pillar includes clear actions and bold ambitions. This strategy will shape what we teach, how we lead, how we work, how we connect and how we ensure our school flourishes now and into the future.

Action Planning at Every Level WHAT COMES NEXT Feedback as Fuel Clear actions, timelines and responsibilities will support each pillar. Teams across the College, from leadership to classroom teachers, will align their work to the strategy through localised planning and goal-setting. Shared Accountability We will build a culture of shared responsibility and leadership at every level. Progress will be regularly reviewed by the College Leadership Team and College Board and insights shared transparently with our community. Everyone has a role to play. Continuous improvement is core to our approach. Using feedback loops, including student voice, staff reflection, and parent engagement, we will adjust and improve in real time — not just evaluate at the end. Measuring What Matters We will take intentional steps, using short-cycle planning and reflection, to identify what is working, what needs to shift and where momentum is building across the five pillars. Success is about how people feel, learn, grow and belong at Mount Scopus. A Strategy that Lives This is a living strategy, designed to evolve. Our commitment is not only to bold ideas, but to the discipline of follow-through. By listening closely, acting clearly and learning continuously, we will bring Scopus Horizons to life. Jewish learning contributes to my Jewish life, and I love the connectivity between me and others in the community. – STUDENT
