Good Eating WILD WINGS CHATHAM, ONTARIO. We all like to take in the local eateries when visiting other cities and here are a few that I have hit lately. I visit Chatham, Ontario about once a month and in our last trip there we hit Wild Wing Chatham for lunch. My son and I shared a 2 lb deal of wings (two different avours), some garlic cheese bread and a couple of glasses of pop. That garlic cheese bread was absolutely the best I have ever had! $8.99 for four slices. Fabulous - just covered with cheese and very tasty. The wings - We had the double order of wings $35.50 for two avours and they were great. I had a few left over and took them home. Usually wings warmed up later lose quite a bit but not these. They we’re still absolutely delicious the next day. There’s great food and atmosphere there. Check out their website www.wildwingsres-taurant.com (then select Chatham, Ontario) They are located at 427 St. Clair Street, Chatham Ontario N7L 3K4 519 352-1313THE BLOGAugust 2, 2024OLIVE’S IN SARNIA NOW CLOSED Sarnia members of the 4Ts and friends will be saddened to learn that Olive’s is now closed. The group held monthly luncheons at the popular restaurant during the winter season. Unfortunately one of the two women who were partners abandoned the place right after a sizeable offer for the land came in. Her partner was not able to carry on because she needed the consent of both partners for all decisions. It’s sad when the lure of big money changes a person like this and even sadder when one partner has no choice but to close. Hopefully she will open somewhere else. HUNGRY HILLBILLY - BRIGDEN, ONTARIO One of my favourite spots for lunch is the Hungry Hillbilly Restaurant on the main drag in Brigden, Ontario. It is almost right across the street from the foregrounds where some OPA chapters hold campouts. The fall 2023 was held there last year and the Tri-County Travellers are planning to host the fall there again this year. They offer a great selection of food either eat in or take out. Campers found it to be great for breakfast as it is just a short walk from the camping area in the fairgrounds. I particularly like the hot hamburg sandwich which comes with a generous portion of fries, stufng and veggies. My bill is usually about $20 for the meal with a pop. They are also very well known for their pizza! 2344 Courtright Line, Brigden, Ontario N0N 1B0 519 834-6864 Ma and Pa’s Diner - Sarnia, Ontario If you like to go out for a good breakfast once in a while then here’s a spot you will probably like if you are in the Sarnia area. Ma and Pa’s Diner is located in an industrial area just south of Confederation Street. I have the Mega Breakfast which contains: 3 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausages, home fries, pancake, toast, and coffee $13.95 They also have great sh and chips and a full menu. Yes Ma and Pa both work there and are very friendly. I love the place! They are open every day from 7 am to 2 pm. 1173 Michener Road, Sarnia, Ontario 519 404-9721Nick’s Four Roses Restaurant - Port Huron, Michigan Many of us like to cross the border at Sarnia and venture into Port Huron, Michigan, a city I think would dry up if it were not for Canadians visiting. After we’ve all hit the popular breakfast spots like Cracker Barrell etc. it was nice to nd another great breakfast place - Nick’s Four Roses Restaurant. My son and daughter-in-law took me there recently and it was a great experience! Good food, lots of it, and a very reasonable price!. I had the Nick’s Super Breakfast which included 3 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausages, ham and pineapple with hash browns and toast for just $6.99 You can also have country fried steak with 2 eggs, hash browns and toast for $7.99 They have a full menu and it is popular with the locals. They offered great food and the prices were very reasonable. They are located at 1329 24th Street. Port Huron, MI 48060 Near the Ollie’s Store 810 966-3900 Open 7 am to 8 pm Mon to Sat and 7 am to 3 pm Sunday. www.nicksfourroses.comSee you next time - Harold Merton, Publisher

The Ontario Provincial Association of this group holds this special campout for retired members each year. They spend almost a week enjoying activities at the community complex in this Western Ontario town. We’ll have coverage in the next issue of Scope. FCRV FAMILIES GATHER FOR ANNUAL CAMPVENTION IN HERKIMER, NEW YORK Hundreds of members of the Family Campers and RVers from across North America gath-ered for their annual Campvention in the Herkimer area of New York state. Several hundred RVs were expected to attend the event which rotates through seven differ-ent areas of North America each year. A number of local excursions were planned for the area. We had planned to do a feature on a unique KOA Kampground in Herkimer but the owners and both the head ofce of KOA were apparently just too lazy to bother sending us the infor-mation we requested! Second requests to both fell on deaf ears. Makes you wonder! If they are not interest then I guess we are not either! We did a feature on this campground which has an adjacent eld to the campground where people can dig for quarts crystals commonly known as CZs (they call them diamonds) but it was twenty or thirty years ago and our info and pictures were way out of date. We can’t use material that old and one would think the owners would welcome free publicity but I guess not. Sorry we can’t recommend this KOA.A TRIO OF RECORD SETTING AUTOMOBILES ARE ON DISPLAY IN NOVA SCOTIA Nova Scotia’s Steel Wheels Motor Museum is operated by the Steele Auto Group, a major automobile dealership organization in Atlantic Canada and Texas. The new museum houses a collection of ne automobiles from Justin Bieber’s matte blue Ferrari 458 to a huge assort-ment of Detroit Iron and automobiles that have taken part in rallies around the world. One squarebody Suburban has bullet holes from where they were ambushed on an African rally and there’s a squared off Volvo used in an around-the-world run in 1980. It clocked over 300,000 miles on the run. It’s a great collection of ne automotive history worthy of a visit! If you are near Halifax this summer you might check out this great collection! More information can be found with a Google search on the internet.THAT’S IT FOR THIS TIME! SEE YOU LATER!
