SY 2023-2024 Workplace Expectations & Protocols 5 | Page 1.1 Edition August 23, 2023 SCCPSS Updated COVID-19 Guidelines 2023-2024 SY Effective August 3, 2023 Following guidance from the CDC, isolation remains the safest way to protect teachers, staff, and students from the spread of COVID-19. To facilitate in-person learning, K-12 schools may allow teachers, staff, and students who have tested positive for COVID-19 to return to school after following the isolation requirements below, including wearing a well-fitting mask for the remainder of 10 days to minimize the risk of spreading the virus to others. SCCPSS remains committed to providing safe, in-person learning for students through the implementation of layered mitigation strategies and following the CDC and Georgia DPH isolation guidelines. I.CONFIRMED POSITIVE OR SYMPTOMATIC: Confirmed Positive Students or Staff with COVID-19 (Regardless of Vaccination Status) Students or Staff who test positive for COVID-19 may return to school or work on day 6 (after 5 days of isolation), if they have improved symptoms and are fever-free for at least 24 hours, without the use of fever-reducing medications. Staff is required to follow the Georgia DPH recommendation to wear a mask when returning to work for days 6-10, after testing positive. SCCPSS recommends that parents/guardians follow GA DPH masking guidance for their child after testing positive for COVID-19. The GA DPH recommends that a student wear a mask around others for 10 days, after testing positive. If a student will be unable to wear a mask, contact the District COVID-19 nurse for further direction. Per Georgia Senate Bill 514 Summary: “A BILL to be entitled an Act to amend Chapter 2 of Title 20 of the O.C.G.A., relating to elementary and secondary education, so as to provide that no local board of education, local school superintendent, or school administrator, teacher, or other school personnel shall make or enforce any rule that requires a student to wear a face mask or face covering while present on school property unless such rule provides that a parent or guardian of such student may elect for his or her child to be exempt from such rule; to provide that a parent or guardian making such election shall not be required to provide a reason or any certification of the child's health or education status; to provide for related matters; to provide for an effective date; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.” **Lack of staff availability due to the impact of COVID-19 may influence return dates. Staff: You will be required to provide a copy of your positive test result to your supervisor to support your absence. If you tested positive by home test, please provide a picture of the test result to your supervisor (include your name, date of test, and employee number in the picture). An employee may be approved for telework/ telelearning, or use of available sick leave by their supervisor for no more than 10 days (days 0-10). If symptoms are not improving or fever has not resolved after missing 5 workdays, you will need to obtain a return-to-work recommendation from your healthcare provider for your continued absence to be excused. Students: The School Nurse and/or Information Specialist at your site will need the date the student tested positive for COVID-19. After completing 5 full days of isolation, the student may return to school when symptoms have improved, and they are fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications. After the student returns to school, the Georgia DPH recommends that the student wear a mask for days 6-10. If symptoms are not improving or fever has not resolved after 5 days, Parents or Guardians are recommended to consult with their child’s doctor for a return to school date.

Page 6

SY 2023-2024 Workplace Expectations & Protocols 6 | Page1.1 Edition August 23, 2023 Students should not be isolated or separated from a group on days 6 to 10. Current mitigation protocols will be followed by the class/group, including lunchtime. Students or Staff with Symptoms of COVID-19 With Exposure (Regardless of Vaccination Status) If at any time in the 10 days following exposure, symptoms of COVID-19 develop, stay home, isolate immediately, and get tested (required for staff). If you are positive, you must follow the isolation guidance in this document for Confirmed Positive Students or Staff for COVID-19 (Regardless of Vaccination Status). Anyone who tests negative will follow the Georgia DPH guidance for symptoms after COVID-19 exposure and will isolate for 5 days from the date symptoms started. Follow the directions above for positive Students or Staff. Students or Staff with Symptoms of COVID-19 Without Exposure (Regardless of Vaccination Status) Students who experience symptoms of COVID-19 should not report to school. If symptoms have completely resolved within 24 hours (with no known exposure to COVID-19), the student may return to the building. If symptoms have not resolved in 24 hours, a test is recommended. The test should be completed no later than 48 hours after symptoms begin. The student may return to school when they are symptom and fever free (without the use of fever-reducing medications) for 24 hours if they do not test or if they test negative. If they test positive, follow guidance above for confirmed positive. **For students, lack of staff availability due to the impact of COVID-19 may influence return dates. Staff who experience symptoms of COVID-19 should not report to school or work. If symptoms have completely resolved within 24 hours (with no known exposure to COVID-19), you may return to the building. If symptoms have not resolved in 24 hours, a test is required. The test should be completed no later than 48 hours after symptoms begin. The negative COVID-19 test and/or a doctor’s note is required to return to school or work. *If you have tested positive for COVID-19 within the last 90 days, follow up with yourhealthcare provider for guidance.Staff members who have symptoms of COVID-19 and do not test positive are required to follow normal leave protocol and provide a doctor’s note to excuse absences of 3 days or more. II.CONFIRMED EXPOSURE OR POTENTIAL EXPOSURE:Exposure to COVID-19 Students or Staff Requirements when notified of Exposure to COVID-19 (Regardless of Vaccination Status)

Page 7

SY 2023-2024 Workplace Expectations & Protocols 7 | Page 1.1 Edition August 23, 2023 If you have exposure (close contact) with a person who tested positive for COVID-19, per the Georgia Department of Public Health: You do not need to stay home unless you develop symptoms. Wear a high-quality mask around others for 10 days following the last date of exposure. (Masking is recommended for students in school and required by the SCCPSS District for staff after exposure.) You should test on day 5 after last exposure date if you remain symptom free. You should test sooner if you develop symptoms. If symptoms develop, follow the guidance above for Students or Staff with Symptoms of COVID-19 With Exposure (Regardless of Vaccination Status). Cluster of Cases within Groups Pre-K through 12th Grades, Non-School Based Groups, and Athletics: When a cluster of 4 or more positive cases within 7 days is identified in any group, the Nurse and/or Site Administrator at that school or site will report the cluster to the District COVID-19 Nurse for review. If a cluster is identified, following the Ga DPH mandate, the site will complete the provided spreadsheet to report the cluster to the Geogia DPH. No class or group closures at this level. In groups that have 50% or more positive school or site-based cases within an identified group (a classroom, office, bus or team for example) within 10 days, the school may place the entire group on a 5-day quarantine, regardless of vaccination status, after contacting the District COVID-19 Nurse who will forward the situation for District for review and guidance. If quarantined, members of the group may return to school or work on day 6, if symptom free. Asymptomatic students or staff who have tested positive by PCR or Rapid test (not a home test) within the last 90 days may be exempt from quarantine. SCCPSS recommends that parents/guardians follow GA DPH masking guidance for their child after exposure to COVID-19. The GA DPH recommends that a student wear a mask around others for 10 days (days 6-10 when returning to school after cluster exposure). Per Georgia Senate Bill 514 Summary: “A BILL to be entitled an Act to amend Chapter 2 of Title 20 of the O.C.G.A., relating to elementary and secondary education, so as to provide that no local board of education, local school superintendent, or school administrator, teacher, or other school personnel shall make or enforce any rule that requires a student to wear a face mask or face covering while present on school property unless such rule provides that a parent or guardian of such student may elect for his or her child to be exempt from such rule; to provide that a parent or guardian making such election shall not be required to provide a reason or any certification of the child's health or education status; to provide for related matters; to provide for an effective date; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.” The Cluster Notification Letter shall be provided by the school to the parents if quarantine is recommended. *Staff will be advised by their supervisor if they are required to quarantine with the identified group or if they are exempt. Staff is required to wear a mask when returning to work for days 6-10, after cluster exposure.  **Lack of staff availability due to the impact of COVID-19 may influence return dates.

SY 2023-2024 Workplace Expectations & Protocols 8 | Page1.1 Edition August 23, 2023 Notifications Pre-K through 12th Grades, Non-School Based Groups, and Athletics: Notification of Potential Exposure may be sent to Parents/Guardians of students and to Staff in a group when there is a potential spread of COVID-19 identified (3 or more positive cases in the same group within 10 days). Notification of Potential Exposure will not be sent to the same group within 14 days. The Cluster Notification Letter will be provided by the school or site to staff /students, if a group is quarantined because there are 50% or more positive school or site-based cases within 10 days identified in a group (a classroom, office, bus, or team, for example). All sites should continue to notify Transportation with each report of a student who tested positive who rides a bus, using both of the following email addresses. Include the dates the student was infectious and rode the bus, the bus route #, and the site name.  Do not include the name of the student:  ContactTracingTransportation@sccpss.com   Transportation_Field_Supervisors@sccpss.com The Transportation department will continue to notify sites when a transportation staff has tested positive and rode a bus while being infectious. Absences Student absences related to positive COVID-19 tests will be excused for up to 10 days (if the student continues to be symptomatic and by GA DPH guidelines should not leave isolation on day 6). Staff should consult their administrator/supervisor for work options. Mitigation Practices and Cleaning Protecting our students, teachers, and staff from infection is critical to ensure instruction continues without interruption. Schools will continue to use masking (optional, unless otherwise noted in the guidelines above for staff), physical distancing when possible, and will encourage proper hygiene practices, such as washing hands regularly and using hand sanitizer. Students and staff should self-monitor daily for COVID-19 symptoms. SCCPSS will continue to invest in increased cleaning and sanitizing applications at all school locations and on buses. These measures have made an improvement in overall student and staff health. Face Coverings Face Coverings are optional for staff, unless otherwise specified in the guidelines above. Face coverings are optional for students. The recommended/preferred face covering is a KN-95 mask. As a health and safety matter, SCCPSS COVID-19 guidelines are provided based on the impact of COVID-19 in our schools, and the recommendations from the CDC and Georgia DPH for K-12 Schools. These guidelines may be changed at any time.

All employees are expected to work in person except those approved by the appropriate Cabinet member and CHRO to Telework/Telelearn. • Face coverings are optional for all students and staff while inside any school or facility. **DPH guidance regarding masking of exposed or positive individuals will remain in effect for employees. SCCPSS recommends that parents follow DPH masking guidance for their child after exposure or testing positive to COVID-19. • Follow the SCCPSS Updated COVID-19 Guidelines. • Physical/Social distancing of 3 feet or more is strongly encouraged. Employees should focus on maintaining this distance to include meetings, eating lunch, etc. • Wash hands (or using hand sanitizer) frequently. • No one should report to work with Covid-19 related symptoms. Self-monitoring is required for all employees. Anyone with symptoms must stay home and report symptoms to their supervisor. • Respect staff with varying viewpoints on COVID-19. Respect each other’s personal space. • Clean and sanitize your workspace. Cleaning supplies will be available. Staff should make efforts to ensure their workspaces are sanitized with a Clorox wipe after meetings or engagement with others. Health Information Confidentiality The health information of others is highly sensitive and should only be shared for the purpose of promoting health and safety within established protocols or to comply with legal, medical, or public health requirements. SY 2023-2024 Workplace Expectations & Protocols 12 | Page1.1 Edition August 23, 2023 Unauthorized sharing of the health information of others obtained in the workplace or in your capacity as a District employee is prohibited and can result in disciplinary action up to and including termination. Remember! Per the CDC: COVID-19 prevention strategies remain critical to protect people, including students, teachers, and staff, who are not fully vaccinated, especially in areas of moderate-to-high community transmission levels. Staff who test POSITIVE for COVID-19, regardless of vaccination status: • Must isolate at home for 5 days from the start of symptoms. Symptom start date is day 0, the next dayis day 1 of 5. If tested positive but no symptoms, Day 0 is the positive test date.• May return to work on day 6, if no fever for 24 hours (without fever reducing medicine) AND symptomshave improved.• Staff must wear a mask for 5 additional days (through day 10).• Staff must provide a positive test result (Lab or Home test) to their Supervisor.Staff EXPOSED to COVID-19, regardless of vaccination status: • May be at work or school as long as they remain symptom free.• Monitor daily for symptoms and/or fever for 10 days from last exposure date.• Recommend to test on day 5, if no symptoms develop.• If fever or symptoms develop at any time after exposure, isolate at home for 5 days, get tested, andcall your Supervisor/Principal to update.• Wear a well-fitted mask around others for 10 days from last exposure date.• If you test positive or develop symptoms of COVID-19 after exposure, follow the guidance above forstaff who test positive for COVID-19, and provide your positive test result to your Supervisor for excusedabsence.Review the SCCPSS Updated COVID-19 Guidelines 2023-2024 for complete guidance. Guidance is subject to change based on transmission rates. Vaccinations Vaccination is a key strategic approach to support a multi-layered plan to mitigate infection. Vaccines authorized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration are highly effective at protecting vaccinated people against symptomatic and severe COVID-19 illness. According to the CDC, a growing body of evidence suggests that fully vaccinated people are less likely to have symptomatic infection or transmit the virus to others. More guidance and recommendations for fully vaccinated individuals can be found here: Stay Up to Date with COVID-19 Vaccines | CDC

16 | Page1.1 Edition August 23, 2023 SY 2023-2024 Workplace Expectations & Protocols Personal Requirements – Do your part and help Fight the Spread! All employees must follow established protocols to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. This includes: Physical Distancing: Taking steps to keep space between you and others is one of the best tools we have to avoid being exposed to the COVID-19 virus and slowing its spread. Since people can spread the virus before they know they are sick, it is important to stay away from others when possible, even if you have no symptoms. Social distancing is important for everyone, especially to help protect people who are at higher risk of getting very sick. Staff at work on-site should consider following these social distancing practices: Staying apart by 3 feet (about 2 arm’s length) or more is strongly encouraged. When it is not possible to maintain a physical distance of at least 3 feet, it is especially important to layer multiple other prevention strategies. Consider wearing a mask when social distancing is not possible.Handwashing: Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds - especially after you have been in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing, sneezing, or touching your face. If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Cover all surfaces of your hands and rub them together until they feel dry. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth, and wash your hands after touching your face. Hand-sanitizer shall be available at all major building entrances, elevator stops and high-traffic areas. Clean Your Workspace! Maintaining a sanitary workplace is the responsibility of all employees. Staff must wipe down commonly used surfaces before and after use with disinfecting wipes. For example, if you are attending a physically distanced meeting, you must clean your own area using disinfecting wipes. Other high contamination areas include any shared-space location or equipment (e.g. copiers, printers, computers, A/V and other electrical equipment, coffee makers, desks and tables, light switches, doorknobs, etc.). Custodial staff will clean office and workspaces based on CDC guidelines for disinfection and Occupational and Environmental Safety Office (OESO) protocols. Coughing/Sneezing Hygiene: If you are in a setting and do not have a face covering, remember to always cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze or use the inside of your elbow. Then throw used tissues in the trash. Immediately wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not readily available, clean your hands with alcohol-based hand sanitizers with greater than 60% ethanol or 70% isopropanol as the preferred form of hand hygiene in healthcare settings.

Page 17

SY 2023-2024 Workplace Expectations & Protocols 17 | Page 1.1 Edition August 23, 2023 Entry to District Facilities Requirements Signage and Posters: Building occupants must follow signage posted in building entrances, exits, elevators, and similar common use areas. Entry to district facilities will be regulated and monitored: Site access is dependent on compliance with temperature check requests. Employees will not be temperature checked on entry to any buildings. Employees are required to self-monitor for a fever and other COVID-19 symptoms. Anyone on District property is subject to a temperature check at any time. Your SCCPSS badge is required for entry to all buildings and by clocking in you attest that you are symptom free. Do not hold or prop open exterior doors for any other persons – all must enter at designated entry points. Departments and building administrators will identify usable building access points and coordinate arrival and departure times for staff to reduce congestion during typical “rush hours” of the workday. Where possible, staff arrival and departures may be scheduled to minimize personal interactions at building access points, hallways, stairs/elevators, etc. All non-employees entering school buildings and SCCPSS properties are subject to temperature checks and screening questions.

Page 18

SY 2023-2024 Workplace Expectations & Protocols 18 | Page 1.1 Edition August 23, 2023 Personal Safety Practices: Face Coverings are optional for staff and students (follow the SCCPSS Updated COVID-19 Guidelines for 2023-2024 SY). The recommended/preferred face covering is a KN-95 mask. Anyone who chooses to wear a mask should be supported in their decision to do so at any COVID-19 community level. **DPH guidance regarding masking of exposed or positive individuals will remain in effect. Follow the SCCPSS Updated COVID-19 Guidelines. Gloves: Use gloves as part of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) where appropriate and when certain work functions call for this requirement. According to the CDC, gloves are not necessary for general use and do not replace good hand hygiene. Washing your hands is the best practice for common everyday tasks. Expected Safety Practices: Using Restrooms: Wash your hands thoroughly afterward to reduce the potential transmission of the virus. A distance of 3 feet or more is encouraged. Using Elevators (where applicable): You should also avoid touching the elevator buttons with your exposed hand/fingers, if possible. The virus that causes COVID-19 can land on surfaces. It’s possible for people to become infected if they touch those surfaces and then touch their nose, mouth, or eyes. In most situations, the risk of infection from touching a surface is low (Per CDC). Wash your hands or use alcohol-based hand sanitizers with greater than 60% ethanol or 70% isopropyl as the preferred form of hand hygiene in healthcare settings upon departing the elevator. Meals: Before and after eating, you must wash your hands thoroughly to reduce the potential transmission of the virus. It is important to wipe all surfaces, including table, refrigerator handle, coffee machine, etc. after using in common areas. A distance of 3 feet or more between others is encouraged. Work Environments: If you work in an open environment, be sure to maintain at least 3 feet distance from co-workers where possible. If possible have at least one workspace separating you from another co-worker. Departments/Schools may assess open work environments and meeting rooms to institute measures to physically separate and increase distance between employees, other coworkers, and customers. Meetings: In person meeting participants should be encouraged to maintain a distance of 3 feet or more.
