AN UEAAL R RREEPPOORRTT 22002201 M I DN Y VIRTUAL CONFERENCE REPORT T his summer our First Annual Virtual Conference Opening the Ancient World in partnership with Digital Hammurabi was a smash hit We had over 1 800 viewers over the course of its two days This conference brought together presenters who produce expert research even as their careers lie beyond the tenured professoriate working as Non profit employees Higher Education Administrators University Lecturers High School Teachers Community College Professors Independent Researchers Healthcare Chaplains Clergy Freelance Writers Publishing Editors Businesspersons Lawyers We are working on publishing the conference proceedings in an open access forum We look forward to seeing you at next year s Virtual Conference in Summer 2022 Colossal Statue of Akhenaten 13th century BCE Egypt 8 MISSION VISION 9

M I DN Y AN UEAAL R RREEPPOORRTT 22002201 DOWNWARD TREND RESEARCH FIRST PRESENTATION I n July David Danzig and Valeria Zubieta Lupo presented the first group of results from our Downward Trend Research Project at the Rencontre Assyriologique Internationale This project is working on quantifying the downward trend in Ancient Studies in higher education and beyond This presentation covered the indicators of Language Course Enrollment and Degree Completion in all Ancient Studies fields in the US Unfortunately our results show clear evidence for the precipitous recent decline in Ancient Studies Our predictions are highly unsettling WATCH THE RECORDING AT SAVEANCIENTSTUDIES ORG RESEARCH Al Khazneh at Petra 1st century CE Nabataean 12 ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT 13
