For Business Sake © 2023 All rights reserved 148 Preparing for job interviews RESEARCH THE COMPANIES YOU’RE INTERVIEWING FOR What is the company’s mission statement? What values do they have and do you share them? What do you like about their products or services? Are they promoting anything special on their social media? DRESS CODE Whether in person or online the first impression is still important. So dress smart but make sure you are comfortable so you’re not fidgeting during the interview. PRACTICE ANSWERING COMMON QUESTIONS SUCH AS: Tell us about your self Why did you apply for the job? What do you know about our company? TOP TIPS 1 Whenever you answer a question try to refer back to the Job description so for example: If you are applying for a job in customer services and the interviewer asks “So tell me about yourself? You could say something like.... “Well, I really like helping people, so I am always finding ways to volunteer when I can. So when I saw this job I had to apply because people always tell me how much of a problem solver I am and how I’m always calm in stressful situations which is something you mentioned in the job description.”
For Business Sake © 2023 All rights reserved 149 TOP TIPS 2 Focus on your achievements, and make a note of your top 3. Remember to have some good questions to ask at the end. Maintain eye contact throughout the interview. REMEMBER TO STAY POSITIVE Everyone gets nervous when it comes to interviews it’s only natural. Just remember you got this far to get an interview, so you obviously did something that impressed the company enough to invite you to hear more about you. Preparing for job interviews NOTES
