The greatest Act or gift is that to Humanity! The greatest Service is that to Humanity! The greatest Love is that to Humanity! When I was penning these words, I realized that those words were the embodiment of a Rotarian and describesthe service so many of you in this room provide. I salute all of you in your work, your vocation, in the cause youchampion, or the act of kindness or the food donated. You are the “true humanitarians” on which I have leaned, learned and been inspired by. I thank you all . It is with humility, I stand before you as the President of the Rotary Club of Sunrise of Road Town for the year2024 2025. I thank God, my family and friends and my Rotary family for this opportunity, As our club strive tofulfill our mandates through the lens of the six areas of focus, we invite you to join us, to dream, to inspire, toconnect, to create, to develop, to learn, to embrace, to hope, to love and to take action! What better Theme to chart our course as a Club, or to be the catalyst for change? “The Magic of Rotary” speaksvolumes to the endless potential, amazing opportunities, lasting and sustainable partnerships that can befostered. Once we realize that we have the magic within us to be the change we wish to see, yes, we will ignitethis magic to realize our purpose and propel us towards a act of compassion for others. I dare you to dream of that magical feeling you once had as you advocated for water access for the schools orlocal garden, for a local farmer, for the persons whose lives you touched during the pandemic or Hurricane Irma, the tourist or resident who smiled or thank you for a cleaner environment after a environmental or communityinitiative or the smiles on students during a Literacy campaign. You created the magic “THEN and you can do itNOW. There are endless opportunities for Peace Building and Conflict Resolution both amongst our shores and abroadand the environmental impact of climate change that was recently felt by our Caribbean neighbors. Be thechange! Be the change for Maternal and Childcare , the Environment, Community and Economic Development, Disease Prevention and Treatment Basic Education and Literacy and Water Sanitation and HygieneThe journey of a Rotarian began at a early as a saw displayed “Self Above Self” and did not quite understand. However, this these words were soon entrenched and learnt the meaning as I saw the change agents. I saw theactions of “Service Above Self” as my dad Rotarian Roosevelt Smith and other Rotarians built countless homesafter hurricanes or for persons in need. Rotarians were and continue to be “PEOPLE OF ACTION”Let us ignite the Magic within us to live a life of service, to embrace the shared opportunities that enable us tomake these Virgin Islands and the wider world a better place. Join Rotary for a magical ride!Faye Smith Penn(284) 542-2261President Remarks
