Case studies:Workplace chargingNorthumberland County Council The County Hall Solar Carport, Storage and EV Charging ProjectThe £3.8 million solar-powered project at Castle Morpeth County Hall features an 800kW solar array and 400kW of battery storage, making it self-sucient in energy. The energy produced is used to power the council building and charge electric vehicles, using 100 x ROLEC 22kW SECURICHARGE fast chargepoints for their sta and fleet vehicles. Managed by Monta's back-oce, the completed chargepoint network has access to the most advanced features for fleet management. Such as a fully integrated approach to vehicle metrics, giving you information on battery size, state of charge, charging percentage and location, as well as other details. The project is expected to save the council £100,000 to £150,000 annually, which can be reinvested in services, and reduce carbon emissions by over 250 tonnes yearly. 87

Case studies:Destination chargingLake District National ParkThe Electrification Journey of the DistrictROLEC worked closely with AMP EV to support the Lake District National Park’s electrification journey. Our QUANTUM (AC fast) and UFC 200 (DC rapid) charging stations, complete with a back-oce management system that enables Lake District National Park Authority to open up its charging network to the general public. Now benefiting from 28 EV chargepoints, facilitating seamless recharging for both their fleet drivers and visitors. Implementing an electric fleet and deploying EV charging infrastructure across multiple locations play a significant role in meeting their net zero targets. Electric vehicle drivers can now conveniently recharge their vehicles while traveling from the district.88

Case studies:Residential chargingBattersea Power StationAs part of a £9 billion project in central London, Battersea Power Station installed 500 strong EV chargepoint networks that will enable residents to use their personal security/access RFID card to activate any chargepoint. The installation of ROLEC’s SECURICHARGE units and the combination of a smart back-oce management solution, including tailor-made load management software enabled residents to recharge whilst completely integrating with the site’s management agency. Case studies:Fleet chargingThe City of Edinburgh CouncilEdinburgh City Council Unveils New Electric Refuse Collection FleetFunded by Zero Waste Scotland, Edinburgh City Council is adding new electric refuse collection vehicles (eRCVs) to its fleet, aiming for full electrification by the end of 2024. To support these 20-tonne eRCVs, the council partnered with ROLEC to install 10 x 80kW ULTRACHARGE 160 chargepoints. The units are equipped with bespoke 7m extended cables and can be upgraded to 160kW. Creating a robust and scalable charging network for their larger EVs, all backed by an extended hardware warranty provided by ROLEC. The chargepoints use OCPP 1.6-J hardware, allowing the council to trial Monta’s software. This setup enhances their recycling services and reduces carbon emissions, helping the council meet its environmental goals.90

Keepmoat HomesAs of June 2022, all new residential buildings must be equipped with smart EV chargepoints to encourage EV uptake. Developments with 10+ parking spaces must include a chargepoint for each dwelling with parking and cable routes for all other spaces.
