My Creative Writing Experience The works I have chosen to include in my portfolio are either the best ones I believe I have done in class or conveyed what I wanted well. I think my works have done well to embody my interests and personality and give a bit of insight into myself and the way I write as a whole. Fiction is my favorite genre, and I tried my best to inspire myself and adapt my own creativity in an appreciable manner. The Acrostic I wrote shows what I view as the good side of myself. I wrote about good qualities I possess, such as being careful as I don't like rushing into things; I often find myself overthinking simple things. Honesty, as for the most part, I don't have anything to hide, and if I do or don't want to answer something, I prefer just not saying anything overlying as it can be more destructive than simply telling the truth. Attentive, I pay close attention to things I'm unfamiliar with. It can be a person or a location, I try and be polite and courteous as well, and for the
most part, people tell me I do an excellent job with that. Nuanced, I don't have large outbursts of emotion, nor do I wear them on my sleeve, so my mannerisms are subtle and can go unnoticed for the most part. Being calm is my most common demeanor; I have learned the value of patience from my past; I was very much impatient when I was younger, I still struggle every now and then, but I have a good handle on myself with self-control. Ethical, this one, I think, applies to a lot of people for a lot of different reasons; I believe it applies to me as I try to keep myself moral as a Christian and decent human being. My father Ron is the person I look up to most; he truly is righteous, outstanding, and noteworthy. My father has spent the majority of his life helping others; he fought for our country in Vietnam, and afterward he helped those who were troubled by the war and other personal matters as a Psychologist, and finally, he has served God as a pastor trying to save others in the most important way.
The critical voice assignment was a bit difficult for me, as I had to step back and look at my intentions and desires. I don't regularly write; however, it's something that I find interesting. I have several ideas for stories but not really the confidence nor the wherewithal to fully bring to life my ideas. So I had to write the struggles I have writing without actually having written much of anything. The last line is a message to myself for whenever I actually decide to see one of my ideas entirely through to completion. Life and One's Self is actually a poem I wrote in middle school for an assignment; it was something at the time I was pretty proud of and still think it's pretty good. To fit the requirements of the assignment, I did have to trim and adjust it a decent bit to get it to exactly one hundred words, but I think it turned out well. The Epigrams I wrote all tell lessons or bring attention to topics I think about regularly or believe I know a fair amount of.
The first one deals with how quickly someone's life can pass them by and brings the question of how much of it will mean anything in the end. The second questions a person's self-identity as people often think more or less of themselves, and it's essential to have more than just your own opinion if it's in a constructive light. Third and finally deals with how people should go about things; I said earlier that I am a reasonably patient and careful person, which can be very good, but I can miss opportunities if I fall too deep into the mindset, likewise if someone goes through life in a rush they to pass the opportunity by. It boils down to knowing what situations one of the choices fit best.

My Own Judge Me: Hmm, that's a good idea for a story. Judge: Perhaps, but it's ultimately pointless. Me: It's not pointless; I enjoy coming up with ideas! Judge: Of what value is it if it's never put to paper? Me: I don't know, posterity? I'll probably do something with it in the future. Judge: Unlikely, even if you did, the chances of you remembering even a fraction of it is minimal at best. Me: Fine! I'll put it to paper. Happy now? Judge: You know it may be better just to forget about it in the first place Me: you're the one who told me to put it to paper moments ago! Judge: Yes, well, this isn't the first time we have had this conversation.
Me: That's beside the point. Judge: No, the other couple of ideas you have written down have been collecting dust for years. Me: I'll get to it eventually. Judge: You likely won't; even if you did continue your idea, nothing would come of it. Me: As true as that may be, I would still have the satisfaction of completing something. Judge: I'll be waiting then, and I'll be the first to judge and commend you.
Life and Oneself To understand oneself, You must be willing to dig deeper To uncover what you are unwilling To unveil that which holds true If you’re unable, it will be your keeper To break free, you must believe That you can find your way Your best hope is to find that guiding light So you may not go astray A lamp to your feet, so you may not dismay But to find your way is merely the first step For there’s a long, lagging and lethal road ahead And if you would rather not fall prey It’s best you do not delay.
Epigrams The Value of Time: Life is as quick as a breath how will yours have looked upon your last? A Warning Against Vanity and or Self-depreciation: In order to figure out oneself, You must look inward and compare your self-image to what others perceive of you. If they aren't the same, figure out the cause. A Choice of Speed: Slow and Steady is certainty while Quick and Flighty is a chance; each way has its merits, and in different situations, either choice can be better than the other.

Abecedarius: Behold mere mortal, can you perceive the defining light of the exalted ruler? Do you fear what is to come, the great disaster that shall befall humanity. Can you imagine how jaunting this task is to distribute this kindness to all. The lost that could be saved might they fall before the ruler. After the disaster nevermore shall there be hardship, oppression or even
prejudice.
