Meet Hassan Dajana and his 4th gradersA few kilometres off the GT road, on the outskirts of Islamabad, there is a government boys' primary school that may seem like an unlikely starting point for a remarkable journey. This school, oftenoverlooked by many, was where Hassan’s dreams began to take shape.Hassan, an engineering graduate, found himself at a crossroads in 2020. He faced a decision that would change the course of his life. Should he pursue a traditional engineering career, or should he embrace a path less traveled, one that involved dedicating two years of his life to teaching a group of 4th graders as part of the Teach For Pakistan Fellowship program?Hassan chose the latter, a decision that initially left his parents and peers somewhat puzzled.Standing before his students each day, Hassan observed their struggles in forming basic sentences. At that moment, he grasped two essential truths. One, understanding the system requires firsthandexperience of ground realities. Second, unless we come together as a collective and take ownership of our challenges, we cannot inspire change. The challenges that Hassan’s students face are the challenges of millions of Pakistani children. Teach For Pakistan harnesses the energy of the best young minds in Pakistan - mind like yours - to do just that. 01In a country where 25 million children are out of school, and 95% of those who are in school receive sub-par education, the question arises:How do we come together as one to build an equitable Pakistan, for all our children and all our people?

Ending educational inequity requires fixing lots of pieces of problems across the education system, as well as the social, economic, and political systems that influence education. So, instead of building a school, a teacher training institute, or an advocacy platform, Teach For Pakistan is building a movement of leaders who work from all fields and develop diverse solutions to our education crisis.Building a movement of leadersRECRUIT TRAIN MATCHEMPOWER SUPPORT BUILDRecruit accomplished universitygraduates to a two-year,full-time, paid FellowshipBuild an Alumni-ledmovement to tackleeducational inequitySupport Fellows in grassrootsinitiatives to build school andcommunity capacityEmpower Fellows to leadtheir students to transformativeacademic and personal growthMatch Fellows withstruggling classrooms inlow-income communitiesTrain Fellows in teaching, leadership and communitymobilizationTeach For Pakistan Model:02

Haleema and her 6th graders: Journey towards academic excellence “In September of 2021, when I first met my 6th graders in Jaba Teli, I had a clear vision: I wanted them to achieve academic excellence equivalent to their peers at their grade level. However, the assessment data revealed that my students were, on average, five years behind their grade level. Troubled by this, I start-ed to investigate further and found that most of my students do not have access to books and resources beyond their textbooks. This gave me a starting point, I started setting monthly goals with my students, meticulously helping them work on their listening, speaking, reading and writing abilities while also building their confidence and enthusiasm for the language. Recognizing the importance of enjoyable learning, I focused on creating engaging learning experiences for them. I carefullyselected short stories, organized a Summer Reading Camp, and screened movies adapted from their books. With community support, I established a library to promote independent learning. These efforts resulted in improved comprehension, vocabulary, and critical thinking skills, allowing my students to bridge their learning gap effectively. Two years later, my students have shown remarkable progress, achieving six years of academic growth. They are excelling in their learning outcomes and are on the path to a bright future."“While teaching Science to 7th and 8th graders in a public school in Sihala, Islamabad, I observed behavioral issues among my 100-plus students. Many struggled with emotional regulation, often manifesting their feelings through anger or anxiety. It became evident that we needed to provide them with avenues to express themselves positively. To address this, my co-Fellows and I initiated the CommunityPartnership Project, organizing sixteen art and drawing sessions. These sessions served as a platform for teaching Social Emotional Learning skills through artistic expression. By channeling theiremotional energies creatively, my students found a positive outlet. With active community involvement, we curated an exhibition showcasing the artwork from these sessions. During the exhibition, my students confidently interacted with visitors, explaining how artistic expression had significantly enhanced their socio-emotional well-being.”Tahreem and her students: Building a new, gentle world togetherStudents and Fellows:together on a path to lead change17

Meet Hassan, a few years onHassan's Fellowship experience served as a foundational stepping stone for his future endeavors. His time spent in the classroom and within the communityprovided him with valuable insights into the system, ultimately shaping him into a leader who would advocate for the millions of students who have been excluded from important discussions.Hassan had the privilege of participating in high-level discussions at prestigious institutions such as the United Nations office in Geneva and the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. These venues allowed him to exchange ideas with fellow changemakers and leaders from across the globe who make important decisions impacting children and communities.Currently, he is a Fulbright Scholar pursuing studies in Community Climate Adaptation atWorcester Polytechnic Institute. Hassan eagerly anticipates returning to Pakistan and continuing his work to inspire change to build an equitable, safe and joy-filled future for all our children.18Are you ready to join the movement?
