Once more Red Hen ran past her friends in her fright She found that the grocer was closed for the night She raced to the mill where the flour was made but panicked to find she d be further delayed She groaned as she reached down a sack from the shelf I wish I had help but I ll do it myself PREVIEW ONLY

BUT Red Hen stayed asleep Then she woke with a fright She looked at her clock and she shrieked at the sight Oh no It s so late I ve got so much at stake Not stopping to change Red Hen raced off to bake PREVIEW ONLY I only have time for one gingerbread mix No time for mistakes they d take too long to fix

Soon wafting the streets was a gingery smell Removing her apron she heard the shop bell Magnificent timing She welcomed John in PREVIEW ONLY He noticed her nightdress and stifled a grin May I take some photos John sniffed What a treat It smells like that gingerbread s ready to eat

LEGLESS GINGERBREAD MEN Ingredients 2 cups of precious flour 3 tsp ground ginger 2 tsp cinnamon 150g butter 1 2 cup soft brown sugar 3 tbsp golden syrup 1 tsp baking soda 2 tsp boiling water Instructions 1 Find all the ingredients Make flour if needed 2 Turn the oven on Remember to ask for help if you need it 160 degrees fan forced 3 Line the oven tray with baking paper with a message Do not run away 4 Put your precious flour in a bowl with ginger and cinnamon Does the ginger smell delicious 5 Cut the butter into cubes and then soften it Beat the butter with the sugar and golden syrup Try and get it pale and creamy 6 Mix boiling water with baking soda and add it to the butter mix Add your dry ingredients Mix well 7 Time to play Roll and shape your gingerbread men Use a tiny bit of precious flour on the roller if the mixture is sticking 8 Carefully remove and eat the legs of your gingerbread men so they don t run away Other items 9 Bake the gingerbread men for 15 minutes or until they look golden Baking paper 10 Remove the gingerbread men from the oven If you skipped step 6 you might need to chase your gingerbread down the road Gingerbread shape cutter Icing and delicious decorations 11 Decorate your gingerbread men 12 If you are lucky eat your gingerbread men If not you can always make muffins PREVIEW ONLY
