A Note From OurAdministratorWarmly,Laine AmbroseAdministratorThe auction event at Da Vinci is an integralpart of our yearly fundraising efforts. Each yeara team of volunteers plans the event, goes outto solicit donations from the community, andworks together to bring us a night of fun andcommunity building. We truly love the chanceto let loose, and enjoy catching up withfriends and alumni, while also raising moneyfor our school. Through the years of fun,themed events, such as a murder mystery andcostumed ball, the auction has allowed us togrow teacher salaries, and attain and keepprogramming. As we look to the future of ourschool we are proud to be bursting at theseams and looking for ways to expand ourfootprint. The auction and the volunteers thattake it on help us on this journey.

Description- Our backyard dig begins with anintroduction to types of fossils by location and time periodand some of their identifying features. Each participantwill be given a layered bin of soil, rocks, sand, and "stone"to search for fossils through. You are guaranteed to findsome: Ice Age mammal and reptile bone or shellfragments, petrified wood and plant concretions, sharkteeth (including some Megalodon tooth fragments),stingray teeth, ammonites, brachiopods, crinoids,orthoceras, copperlites, small dinosaur bones (species willvary but will be discussed), and at least one specimen ofthe oldest life form known to exist on Earth.Details-A hands-on learning experience digging for andidentifying fossils, followed by a prehistoric lunch (allmodern dietary requirements are able to be met).Restrictions- Limited to children between the ages of 8and 80. 12 spots available.Starting Bid $100Item #603Junior Paleontology DigCome Excavate with the Ecklunds!
