The STORY Every number has a name Katie Hoagland Meet Katie Hoagland Katie her husband Matthew and three girls have been attending OCC for over two years Not long after the family arrived Katie began looking for a Bible study and signed up for a Precept Bible Study of the Book of Esther She s been a regular ever since that time Precept Bible Studies were entirely new to Katie Having been raised in the Catholic Church she was looking for a more systematic way to study and learn about the Bible God and Jesus one that would be more in depth and keep her accountable in the regular study of God s Word Katie said the Precept group was so welcoming and friendly it has become a priority in her week Pam LaRocco leads the Precept Bible Study and has been teaching Precept Studies for over 20 years These studies are so effective because the student is taught to observe interpret and apply God s Word using an Inductive Method That just means you learn skills that you can apply in your own personal reading and study of the Word Books of the Bible are studied chapter by chapter verse by verse Weekly homework and engaging class time help you mine the life giving transformative truth of God s Word Life change is the result We all know you can t give what you don t have As a busy mom of three young girls Katie wants to be able to teach and share Jesus with them as they grow Deuteronomy 6 7 tells parents to engage with their children in the everyday moments of life when you sit at home and when you walk along the road when you lie down and when you get up Precept Studies are a great way to help equip parents to do that Spiritual growth requires an intentional effort When you aim at nothing that s what you hit OCC desires to be a church that has an uncompromising focus on the Bible and Prayer Do you want to intensify your hunger for God and His Word Katie has found a way to do that Written by John Perciful 61 The number of families that Okolona Christian Church served through the Food Pantry
