Purple Sea Star

The purple sea star is found in the rocky shorelines of the Pacific Ocean from Prince William Sound,Alaska,To Baja California.They move by wiggling their arms.The tubed feet that move on there own.They have tubed feet to go with the arms there is many tubed feet on the bottom.The arms are hard and have sharp prickly spines all over them.Since the sea star has its hard arms and prickly spine it does not normally get attacked by other animals.

  The purple Sea Stars special feature is its ability to live in oxygen for 8 hours which is a pretty long time for a sea star.In winter it spends its time in water.Sometimes when it is in oxygen it is partly in shallow waters.It can be in oxygen because oxygen is circulated through the main body cavity (it's a good type of cavity).The oxygen comes from the water around them.


 Scientific name: Pisaster ochraceus. 

Name: Purple sea star

Size: The star can grow up to 10 inches in length from arm to arm and

 weigh about a pound.

Diet: It eats mussels,clams,limpets,

snails,and barnacles.

 Habitat: Its native to the pacific ocean it hides in crevices of rocks in California and Alaska. 

 Predators and threats: Sea gulls and otters are predators when they are young they are vulnerable but ones 5 years they keep them away.

Purple Starling

The purple starling lives in Senegal,Gambia,Guinea,Bissau, and northern central African republic,southern Sudan. They mostly breed in February to May.They make a ¨twee twee¨ noise which is probably there way of communication.Since they have a way of communication they can warn each other of things and they can say important things.They also have good muscles near there jaws which is very important for them to survive.

The purple starlings special feature is its muscles near its jaws,pretty weird but they are very helpful.The muscles help them clamp and shut many foods.It allow them to eat many different thing so they won’t starve.It also lets them open things like soil and find food.So using their jaws is them being resourceful and they always have it.

Diet:Is they eat fruit and insects that they look 

for in bushes and trees.

Predators and threats: the purple starling doesn't have predators but the do have rivals the purple martins.They fight over territory


Janitha Janitha Snail

The purple Janitha Janitha snail lives in Queensland,new south Wales,south Australia, eastern Tasmania.It is blind and has a thin shell which is very light and could crack easily.It is a very light violet like color.It has special ways of floating upside down on the ocean's waters.It uses its long trail of mucus that goes everywhere.

The janitha janitha snail´s special ability is that it can float upside down on the water. It can do it because it has a raft of mucus bubbles that goes along with it everywhere.The snail spends most of its life upside down on the warm seas. It is mostly moved by the wind pushing its raft across the ocean. So they don't even have to do much.

Size:They are 3-4 cm.

Diet: The snail feeds on jellyfish because it is really the only food they can get.

Habitat : is on the surface of the ocean.

Predators and threats: the predators of the snails are fish,birds,sea turtles,mollusc and nudibranchs.


Purple Emperor Butterfly

The purple emperor butterfly if purple with black,brown and white included.It lives in southern england,south hampshire,and oxfordshire. Only the male emperor butterflies are purple.So the female emperor butterflies cannot be purple only brown,black,and white.You can only see their color if you look at it in certain angles or with bright lighting.

Don’t worry about others stealing your food.

  The emperor's special feature is not having to eat like other butterflies they feed on honey dew.Since they eat honeydew which different butterflies don’t do. They wouldn't have to go out searching for other food. Which would be helpful because if there wasn’t any of the other food left it would be ok since they don’t eat it.Though they don’t even eat in the winter.

 Habitat:The butterflies habitat is in treetops in southern England mostly.

The threats for them are rival animals that want

 their territory.

Indian Purple Frog

The Indian purple frog is a shiny purple color with blue rings around its eyes.It lives in western ghats of India. Where it is known from kattapana and near Idukki town in the cardamom hills of Kerala state.It lives most of the year underground.But it comes out every 2-3 weeks during the monsoon.It has short little legs that impact it´s life a huge part of its life.

The purple frog´s special feature is it having short legs.It has short legs with hardened spades which helps its life underground .It comes out 2-3 weeks a year to mate with each other.It can live in burrows 3.7 feet down.Since it is small spaces underground it is good they are short.


Name:Indian Purple Frog.

Scientific name: Nasikabatrachus sahyadrensis. 

Size:It has a bloated body and grows to 7 centimeters in length.

Diet: It eats ants and termites.

Habitat: The Indian purple frog live underground in western ghats of India.

Predators and threats: The purple frog is very rare and their is only 3 female ones known left.Its big threat is loss of habitat.

The Violet Ground Beetle

The violet ground beetle is small but big for a beetle and shiny it is a mix of black and violet.It is found in europe and japan in parks,gardens and more.The beetle can’t fly but can jump.It can’t fly because “the wing cases are fused shut”.Since they can’t fly they miss many types of foods there is for them to eat but they still find a way of getting food.

  Watch out or you could be attacked.

      The violet ground beetles special ability is it being very good at hunting .Which is important for its little but large life.Unlike other beetles it doesn't destroy plants because that is where most of it prey goes.So they sneak up on them but they don't just try to scare them like friends do they go to eat them.It preys on slugs and slugs go there alot so they go and attack the slug and eat them and leave the plant for their next meal.

 Size:Their size is 20-30 mm

Diet:the ground beetle eats slugs,snails,worms,


Habitat: Underneath logs ,stones ,in parks,woods in hedgerows areas.

Predators and threats:It doesn't have predators or threats but 

the purple ground beetle is a predator to slugs and other things.

Purple Martin

The  purple martin is rivals with the purple starling they fight over nest areas which is their territory.They migrate around to south america.They live in parts of USA,Canada,mexico,Brazil. When the purple martin and purple starling fight over nest area they attack and scratch each other.They are good at flying and can catch prey while flying.

         The purple martin is amazing when flying which is good because they don’t have time to stop somewhere to get food they chase after it while flying.They have flown at 40 miles per hour. That is very important because since they also have to chase their food they have to be fast so they can catch it.When their meal fly past them they chase after (it sort of looks like the police chasing a car).And once they catch they eat and continue flying.

martin’s don't

 have any predators but

 a threat to them is the

 purple martin are

 rivals and fight over nest space.

Purple Nudibranch

The purple Nudibranches nickname is the purple sea slug is violet with some orange.They live in oceans and tropical waters.They only live to about a year but recently they live to a couple weeks.They can swim a short distance with only flexing their muscles.They don’t get attacked because of their colors.

    Violet and deadly

     The bright colors of the violet Nudibranch can warn off the predators of the Nudibranchs. Because they have chemical defense.They get the chemicals from what they eat. They eat sponges which  have poisonous chemicals in there tissue.So if a predator comes after them the Nudibranch can poison them.

because they scare them off.

Purple Sea Urchin

The purple sea urchin lives in Vancouver islands to Isla,Baja California. Purple sea urchins cover themselves in shells,rocks and more.It could be done for multiple reasons like not getting hurt by the bright sun or maybe getting attacked by a predators.Nobody knows exactly why they do it but it is most likely one of those reasons.The sea urchin is one of the first animals to show change in behavior in polluted waters.

      The Purple sea urchin has tube feet which are helpful because they help them move along rocky sand and more.The tube feet also are where they breathe and exchange gases.So they don’t need to have gills.The tube feet also catch food and pass it down to the mouth.They wouldn't be able to live without the tube feet.

Predators and threats:There only predators are the sea otters,

sunflower stars,and 

sea star but when a sea star gets close it

 pulls of one of the 

stars arms but it grows back so its ok it does 

it to scare it but it doesn't work on sea otters or sunflower stars.

Purple Striped Jellyfish

The purple striped jellyfish is a jellyfish found in the Bermuda in warm waters.Cancer crabs take a ride on the jellyfish and take and eat any of the  Parasitic Amphipods because it could hurt the jellyfish so the jellyfish gives it a ride in return.They spend most of their life searching for food.If someone comes to attack they no what to do.But stuff that humans do like having pollution that's what can endanger them.

  The purple striped jellies special feature is its ability to sting away predators.With its long tentacles they sting you so you better watch out because it will hurt if they sting you.The tentacles have cnidocytes in them which lets them sting you.The sting will not kill you you will just be in some pain from it’s sting.It can kill a little sea animal though.

Size:60-90 mm in it’s head and up to 3 feet for its tentacles.

Diet: Macrozooplankton,fish eggs,cladocera 

Habitat:Warm waters in the Bermuda,Mediterranean sea and off the coast of California and Atlantic ocean.

Predators and threats:Sea turtles,tuna,sunfish,butter fish.

Crevices:a narrow opening or fissure, especially in a rock or wall.

Vulnerable:susceptible to physical or emotional attack or harm.

Fused: forced join to form a single entity.
