Message PURPLE CIRCLE SERIES

My rst oil painng tled Draw Me and exhibited in the 1970 Southern California Exhibion, Del Mar, California. Renamed Purple Circle n 2006 in honor of my son Charley who called it “the Purple Circle”. Aer recovering from a personal tragedy I reached back into my past to this painng which became the movaon for the series Purple Circle. Being a geometric piece of art, keeping the Euclidean geometric theme seemed appropriate. A combinaon of real painngs and hybrid digital art completes the series PURPLE CIRCLE Oil on Canvas 40x40

RECTANGLES 30x24 oil on Canvas Purple Circle Series No. 2 In keeping with the Euclidean geometry theme I chose rec-tangles and would ask take a minute and look through the grey facade and see the picture in its enrety residing behind the mask Perhaps that which is parally hidden is a metaphor for com-plete, honesty and truth. I guess one queson we might ask ourselves is, how much do others see of what we are trying to hide?

WITH THEN WITHOUT CATARACTS Hybrid Digital Print Purple Circle Series No. 4 The idea was born during a conversaon with my cataract sur-geon, when she asked how I would illustrate my replacement experience. The work is a representaon of what the original artwork (Purple Circle) looked like, with then without cataracts. The outer edge o-color and blurry, then the white area repre-senng my awareness during the operaon where I was semi-conscious. Finally the inner area aer removal and replace-ment of the cataracts with arcial lenses enabling me to again see as it was originally painted.

BLACK HOLES Hybrid Digital Print Purple Circle Series No. 5 Using a computer and soware, the painng Circles was ma-nipulated to render Black Holes. The black mask heightens the colors of the circles and provides a unique contrast.

MINI RECTANGLES Hybrid Digital Print Purple Circle Series No. 6 Another soware created print of the original Purple Circle, made so a smaller size can sll have the detail of the larger print Rectangles.
