Epidural Steroid Injections are a common treatment option to help manage chronic neck and back pain. An Epidural Steroid Injection can be recieved in your cervial (neck), thoracic (upper to middle back) or lumbar (lower back) spine areas.

When conservative treatment options, such as physical therapy, chiropractic, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and low-dose narcotics, do not provide adequate pain relief, Epidural Steroid Injections are an effective next step in treatment. The injections are only intended for temporary pain relief - coupled with therapeutic exercises, to help postpone or even avoid surgery. Pain relief is the ultimate goal of any injection.

At Premier Neurosurgical Institute, Epidural Steroid Injections are performed in our Ambulatory Surgical Center, using video fluoroscopy.

WHAT is Epidural?

The dura is a protective sac that covers your spinal cord and the nerves connected. The dura contains the spinal fluid, which is surrounded by a region called the epidual space.

HOW does it work?

An Epidural Steroid Injection works by delivering steroid medication into the epidural space in the spine.

Will I Feel Better IMMEDIATELY?

Some patients feel immediate pain, while others can take up to 14 days for the steroid to take effect.
