      Matt Groening

By: Sasha Luich

I picked Matt Groening for my animator because, He created the popular Simpsons and Futurama. Matt Groening has created a whole new definition of animation, by making animations relatable and humerus.  I consider Matt Groening a pioneer of animation because he was able to keep an Animation on air since December 17, 1989 and May 13, 1990, beginning with the Christmas special "Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire".  Matt Groening has also created Futurama it started off as "Space Pilot 3000"  (the pilot episode of Futurama). It originally aired on the Fox network in the United States on March 28, 1999.  Matt has made a huge impact of animation from his cartoons, he truly is a animation pioneer.

Matt Groening grew up in portland, he didn’t like school but; school turned Matt to drawing. During the 1980’s he moved to LA, and began drawing a comic strip called “life in hell”. It eventually it got published in the newspaper. In 1988 James L Brooks contacted Groening.  The animated later became  the simpsons, Matt also created Futurama.  Matt Groening used names from his family in the Simpsons such as Maggie,Homer,Lisa, and Marge.  The only name that wasn't from his family was Bart.  The character Bart was created when Matt was in school.  Matt thought it was funny to see someone yelling Bart because it sounds alot like Bark.  Futurama later came around  because Matt wanted to add a twist to his cartoons by making one that happens in the future. Therefore Matt Groening has created a wide spectrum of cartoons and will continue doing so.
