Metaphysics Accessing your Spirit Team By Kay Nielsen B rgbspace Fotolia com METAPHYSICAL of or relating to a reality beyond what is perceptible to the senses supernatural efore I begin to write I start by filling my body with white light and then I observe the light travel down igniting each chakra one at a time These are the first steps I take when I prepare to write an article as it raises my vibration and strengthens my connection with my spirit team This is an important ritual and once it is completed I open up to the world of spirit for inspiration The words and ideas begin to flow into my head and then speedily out through my hands on a good day The fact is I start every day the same way as I approach writing an article I look after myself energetically so that I am a clear channel and available to receive divine guidance No matter what I am doing I find that my day flows more smoothly when my chakras are balanced and my vibration is high There are less if any negative interactions If I find that throughout the day my vibration has lowered and that I am attracting conflict to myself I find a quiet place sometimes a bathroom stall will do and repeat the morning energy work Immediately the energy shifts and I am no longer a vibrational match for that lower energy How empowering I believe that the divine guidance is your spirit workers guides and angels talking to you It is also what some may call your intuition It is your direct connection to a group of beings whose main purpose is to Volume 1 Issue 2 True Blue Spirit Page 5
Metaphysics guide you through this lifetime They whisper in your ear and hopefully steer you around some obstacles unless those obstacles are important growing lessons Then I m sorry you are unable to avoid them but your spirit workers can help ease the transition that occurs after those big bumps in the road They are your own personal advisors or life coaches if you like Your life coaches only have your best interest at heart Their guidance reflects what is your highest good in any situation Sometimes those circumstances may seem unfair painful or even agonizing but when you ve come through them and you are able to look back with a different perspective you then can see that it was all for the best that your circumstances are far better than before A positive outcome is a direct result of the guidance that is with you during those challenging times These are the times where your guides step in really close to protect buffer and steer you on your path How do you access information from your guides You listen Take time to be quiet so you can hear Meditation is a wonderful way to tune in to your inner voice or just turn off the TV and sit quietly What do you hear What thoughts pop into your head Keep a journal so you can validate the rolffimages Fotolia com information you receive This builds trust between you and your spirit team As you become more adept at this you will receive the information and guidance all the time and not just when you are quiet There are books and many courses available to assist you in this process I wish you luck on your journey of discovering and building a life long relationship with your spirit team KAY NIELSEN started her metaphysical journey 21 years ago when she discovered Stuart Wilde and Carlos Castaneda She began pursuing her clairvoyant and mediumship development four years ago and has been working professionally since 2006 Having completed the Jazz program at Vancouver Island University she writes and performs her own music
Channelling the Dream By Dorothy Jeanne Engst W Jane Janzen outside her home on Salt Spring Island hen Jane Janzen is channelled information she doesn t necessarily sit in stillness waiting for an earth shattering message to come through The messages come in bits and pieces while she spends time in moments of quiet contemplation Jane calls these moments the zen of life Moments include time in the garden and in her dream catcher studio or when her children were younger it was while she watched them at play It s during these times that a subliminal voice comes through It was while Jane tinkered about in her studio on Salt Spring Island that this subliminal voice channelled to her the recipe for Gardener s Dream Cream Jane s job was all about hearing the call and activating it Jane took this job seriously There was no reason to question the direction she was receiving after all she had been working with flower essences since she was four years old and was developing her own aroma oils at the age of 16 The original recipes were channelled to Jane about 19 years ago and came in the form of bath salts and oils Gardener s Dream Cream came three years later in 1992 with the the start of the Aroma Crystal Vibrational Therapy line of body care products Starting with the Salt Spring Island Saturday Market Jane started distributing her therapy products Several years later she was travelling across Canada from Vancouver Island to Hamilton and setting up her stall at every craft fair she could find This eventually led to kiosks I bought my first jar of Dream Cream at a kiosk in the Vancouver airport Eventually natural health retailers were placing the product on their shelves Jane got so busy activating the call that she didn t realize how big her business was growing She had visualized a comet trail and had attached her product to it this way she could affect the planet and the universe with love and vibrational energy The comet is obviously still flying through space and her Volume 1 Issue 2 True Blue Spirit Page 7
business continues to grow and develop Let s take a deeper look into the meaning behind Aroma Crystal Vibrational Therapy Jane explains it perfectly For each of the products there is a mother tincture which has been potentialised with loving intention rife protocols quartz and amethyst crystals along with sound colour and light frequencies These are the original bases to each product and each time a new batch is made a portion is put aside to be mixed into the next one so that each batch contains the energetically potent mother tincture As the energetic essences move forward through the years they change with the energy and frequencies of the planet remaining current with the human condition The combination of quality natural ingredients loving intention and quantum physics creates products which work to move us all to a better place of health peace love and joy What s next for Jane She s never stopped receiving messages and has been focusing her energy on a series of elixirs Each elixir takes over three years to develop Jane s heard the subliminal voice that has channelled to her she s taken action now she and her business are flying by the tail of the comet
Spiritualism Developing Receptivity By Carol Spencer I was in total awe of psychics and mediums when I first started on my own investigative journey There were many reported spontaneous openings to psychic and spiritual gifts for other people and I really hoped the same would happen for me Not so My development was enhanced through reading almost everything I could lay my hands on as well as taking development classes from experienced spiritual instructors I was always asking questions There are so many myths about psychic and spiritual development I have found that the spontaneous gift is rare So gifts of the spirit whether psychic or mediumistic require commitment and patience The following excerpt really defines what that development is about An excerpt from the Philosophy of Silver Birch edited by Stella Storm All you can do if you have the gift of receptivity is to develop it to achieve a greater attainment and attunement The power is infinite The amount that you can receive depends upon your stage of evolution and development Your receptivity determines the limit of spirit power that flows through you It is as simple as that You increase your capacity to receive and greater spirit power will flow through you and greater results will be obtained The whole process is fluidic it is not fixed So the success of your development will depend on you It is developed by your motives It is developed by the way you live your life It is developed by your attempt to reach the highest standards within your life I ve read many books on development so many in fact that if reading rather kmit Fotolia com Volume 1 Issue 2 True Blue Spirit Page 9
Spiritualism than active development increased my awareness I should transcend at any given moment The most important lesson that I have learned is this if anything you read or hear insults your sense of reason or causes you fear reject it It is our responsibility to reduce unnecessary fear in our lives The first step in any healthy development activity is the desire to develop with the intention that you will become a better and more whole person For neophytes the most important activity is meditation Finding a quiet place and spending the same time every day to meditate In the beginning your quiet time should be limited to no more than three minutes Attempting to quiet the mind for any longer period will be frustrating especially when you are not used to letting your mind be still You need patience and perseverance and your reward will ultimately be a sense of peace Developing that sense of peace is the cornerstone to all development It has been said that when the self becomes still we can see and hear with clarity Your first step in the meditative process is making the time and then taking the time to sit quietly for three minutes Set a timer if you need to For beginners it is wise to continue this practice for no less than two weeks When you are comfortable in your meditation then think of the question or concern you have and write it down before you meditate and put the thought out there for a solution You will be surprised at the outcome Be aware that the answers to questions don t always come to you while you are in meditation but may manifest in your daily lives You may feel that you already know how to meditate and how to become still inside For those of you who feel this way I suggest you remind yourselves of the very first quiet or meditative time you ever had It is interesting to remind yourself of the reason and the moment when peace and stillness became an important part in your life Page 10 True Blue Spirit Volume 1 Issue 2 A native of Salt Spring Island CAROL SPENCER established the Continuous Light Sanctuary in 1999 Continuous Light is a society dedicated to spiritualism where gatherings are held to share the philosophy and gifts of spirit Carol teaches meditation healing clairvoyance and psychic awareness IKO Fotolia com
Nature s Essence Abundance By Sabina Pettitt F or this Christmas issue I want to profile an essence of ours which is known to embody Christmas spirit Abundance In 1986 I went to a channelling session with Shyla Kamil to determine that the chakra and meridian correlations for our individual essences could be verified independently Shyla channelled an entity called Abraham who was very supportive of our work with the plant spirits and also our newly discovered sea essences During this session I was instructed by Abraham to make an essence for prosperity I was aghast In my mind I was creating healing essences and how could something called prosperity be healing I did however follow Abraham s guidance to make the essence and that was the end of it until five years later in the spring of 1991 Studying for my final exams at the Chinese College the provincial board exams for acupuncture and hosting the second international flower essence conference in June I found myself rather stressed I was in a state of financial duress with not enough time and way too much to do One day as I was memorizing points I glanced over at the shelf where the mother bottle labelled prosperity sat I felt immediately drawn to taking some drops hopefully to alleviate my worries about financially underwriting the upcoming conference I took the drops every day for about six weeks The conference attracted 235 participants from around the world for the virtually unknown topic of flower essences This alone was a huge success But three months later I learned that it was successful at a financial level as well when the University of Victoria handed me a large cheque enough money to fulfill my dream of publishing a book about Pacific Essences I instantly knew that the only thing that I had done differently was to use this new essence I shared this information with friends and of course they wanted to try the essence The energy field around my prosperity essence grew and by Christmas of 1991 I had gifted about 25 bottles to friends and clients and everyone who had tried the essence had experienced some major shift in their lives around issues of abundance We appropriately named the essence Abundance One day someone said When are you going to include it in the repertory and sell the essence My reply was swift Never because it s not a healing essence The person challenged me How can you say that when people literally kill themselves due to their fears worries and poverty consciousness Cont d tin Konstan om Sutyagin Fotolia c Volume 1 Issue 2 True Blue Spirit Page 11
You Want Real Change We Listen The Charter of Health Freedom is a bold initiative that moves us in a new direction It was written by prominent Canadian constitutional lawyer Shawn Buckley president of the Natural Health Products Protection Association The Charter protects fundamental human freedoms while offering appropriate regulations for the national health industry The principles of the Charter of Health Freedom are universal in nature but the language is specific to the Canadian legal and constitutional system Since the January 2004 implementation of the Natural Health Products Regulations Canadians have so far lost access to more than 20 000 safe and effective natural health products The natural health industry employs over 25 000 Canadians and is worth 2 5 Billion a year This represents a vital portion of Canada s economy and needs to be protected with proper regulations This new federal legislation serves to include all natural medicines therapies treatments and devices It is built on the fundamental belief that every person has the right to choose what form of health care they wish to receive Ministry of Wellness A major component of the Charter legislation is the establishment of a Ministry of Wellness which will operate within parliament to ensure the Charter s principles are consistently upheld The Ministry of Wellness would oversee natural medicines therapies and treatments and all natural healing arts while the Ministry of Health would continue to oversee conventional medicine Given the track records and differences between conventional medicine and natural medicine it is quite evident that they should be regulated separately This concept is unique to Canada and would serve as a solution that would accommodate all parties and honour the multiple Supreme Court of Canada decisions which consistently reinforce the notion of sovereignty over one s body The Charter of Health Freedom is being supported by a broad cross section of Canadians including consumers manufacturers of Natural Health Products retailers and wholesalers of Natural Health Products Natural Health practitioners from many disciplines and cultures and NGOs The Charter of Health Freedom reaffirms in law the long standing relationship citizens of our great nation have enjoyed with government as a servant rather than master in our affairs The organizations and individuals supporting the Charter of Health Freedom are asking Canadians to download sign distribute the petition seeking to have Parliament expedite the passage of this Charter Media requests for Shawn Buckley Call Peter Helgason 1 250 318 5005 phelgason nhppa org Call Tiffany Sampson 1 250 377 4930 tsampson nhppa org
Fotolia com iya ds ha h i nk Nature s Essence ie sa That one statement became the trigger for us to offer this amazing essence to the world And I remembered that Abraham had also said that this essence would transform many lives and heal people s perception of their disconnection from the source allowing them to experience the infinite possibilities of who we all are There was still much hesitation on my part So much so that I had to create a 22 day program to go along with the essence so that people would really get that abundance is a state of consciousness and is applicable to all areas of our lives physical emotional mental spiritual and yes even our bank accounts But the fact is that even in the program the key ingredient is the Abundance essence The 22 day program just helps us to recognize and discard our limiting beliefs and attitudes which prevent us from being who we can be and living in the flow of abundance consciousness So 22 years later the Abundance essence is in fact our number one best seller globally and the program has been translated into seven languages We have a psychologist in Brazil whose entire practice changed when she did the Abundance program and now she uses it with each of her clients to assist them in transforming themselves and creating the lives they want We have stories of physical healing manifesting relationships healing fractured relationships finding work which not only pays the bills but makes people s hearts sing and of course being connected to spirit in a new way in other words living our dreams wholeheartedly And isn t the Spirit of Christmas about all of those things It s the spirit of every day One of the individual essences related to the notion of abundance is Polyanthus The message we received from the plant spirit is I offer you the gift of valuing who you are When you are firmly rooted in your worth you are able to give and to receive with ease Too long have humans believed that it is more blessed to give than to receive One cannot happen without the other Everything you give returns to you And you will only be able to receive blessings if you are willing to see yourself as worthy of them SABINA PETTITT M Ed Dr TCM is a doctor of traditional Chinese medicine and the co creator of Pacific Essences

Animal Whispers Animal Communication By Stephanie McColl S ome of the questions people ask me when I tell them I talk to animals are What are the animals telling you Can you talk to animals that have passed on Are you a psychic or how does it work I m sure that anyone who has ever had an animal companion has felt or sensed that they were trying to tell them something What are they saying when they tilt their head and look at you with those big soulful eyes gently nudge you with a wet nose and suddenly bark or meow incessantly for no apparent reason Talking with animals can help you to find the answers to these questions and more such as do they like their food are they happy when and how do they want to pass on and are they in pain or discomfort If you re an animal lover you may be wondering how to effectively communicate with your pets so that you can both trust each other feel connected and most importantly understand each other s needs and wants In my conversations with animals I ve discovered that it s not about trying to understand what each bark neigh chirp or meow means it s about being still on the inside and listening with my heart and not my ears or my head Being still within and coming from a place of love and respect are the key principles to keep in mind when communicating with animals or any living being Another thing to keep in mind is that anyone can do this and no you don t have to be a psychic Have you ever sat on the sofa reading and suddenly wondered if your dog needs to go outside When you get up you find him sitting at the door waiting for you to let him out You sensed something from your dog or you had a hunch that he needed to go outside Michael Pe t tig rew F oto li a c o m Volume 1 Issue 2 True Blue Spirit Page 15

Crystals Turquoise for the Winter Blues By Erin Lawson and Jacquie Large H ol ia co m ere we are staring winter in the face and what better stone to help us remember the lovely blue skies of summer than turquoise In my opinion turquoise is one of the most eye catching stones with a rich history and many healing qualities Turquoise is a blue green mineral of copper aluminium phosphate with a hardness of 5 to 6 Its color ranges from the well known sky blue to greens some yellows and browns There are purple shades being sold but these are all reported to be forms of dyed turquoise or dyed howlite It was named from the French pierre turquoise meaning t Fo Turkish stone Although iak n r e Lucy Ch it originated in central Asia the route it traveled into Europe was through Turkey where the merchants then sold it in the bazaars A truly worldly stone it has been esteemed in many cultures as a holy stone and a good luck talisman Turquoise is the national gemstone of Iran Persia treasured in Tibet and can be found world wide with the best specimens coming out of Afghanistan Iran south western United States Australia and Tibet In ancient Persia it was worn as a talisman against unnatural death If the stone changed color the wearer was warned of impending doom Of course it has since been proved that turquoise can change color due to chemical reactions to water sunlight acidity in the skin and dust and so care should be taken with turquoise jewellery that it does not come into contact with detergents grease and perspiration Enough history First turquoise is just so darn gorgeous It is a lovely stone to wear as jewellery and the bonus of course is all the ways it can help the wearer The chakra that turquoise corresponds best to is the throat so one of the obvious properties that turquoise carries is aiding in communication It helps you to speak your truths aids in overcoming shyness and the inability to defend your beliefs It brings serenity and calmness and it restores vitality and confidence when stress has worn you down It seems to bring wisdom and helps us to come to that place of compassion where we don t need to be right we just need to know what s right for us and let others do as they need Turquoise is also the stone for self forgiveness and the release of self reproach and guilt issues This is a Volume 1 Issue 2 True Blue Spirit Page 17
Crystals stone of integration forcing us to accept the dark with the light bringing balance and wholeness On a physical level turquoise can increase the prana in the body it can aid in the oxygenation of the blood Some healers place turquoise over the throat chakra to help sore throats swollen glands and laryngitis Turquoise is a personal favourite of Jacquie and me There is nothing like wearing a large chunk of turquoise around your neck you can almost imagine you are wearing a piece of the sky at your throat and just think what that can do for you The Sky s the limit co stockphoto a i v tatianalebede m JACQUIE LARGE has been the owner of Wishes for 17 years and has watched as the metaphysical world has evolved with so many exciting changes She has studied crystals extensively and happily shares her knowledge with her customers Jacquie lives in Duncan with her partner and daughter Page 18 True Blue Spirit Volume 1 Issue 2 yoga term for breath or breathing ERIN LAWSON has studied metaphysics for over 13 years focusing mainly on Tarot Since starting at Wishes eight years ago she has learned much about crystals and the other tools that fill the store She shares her love of crystals with Jacquie and the other staff at Wishes Erin lives in Duncan with her husband and three children
Guided Gardening Fallow is the Time By Paul Parent T he autumn rains have scrubbed the little faces of the flowers that were left behind from summer when nature laid them to rest As winter is upon us once again it is a time of death for some plants while others will rest in their roots And yet others will be less affected It is a time to watch the garden take its last bow The garden has earned its rest period just as you have Memories begin to wash over us of spring with all it s birth summer at the height of the garden s colour Then it happens near the end of July a switch Adrien Roussel Fotolia com goes off and the quality of light is different The air becomes a little cooler and the whisper of autumn is heard Fall is my favourite season with its mosaic of colours and a carnival of fragrance that only it can bring forth The skeletal remains of some plants vanish Perennials are cut down before their time and annuals plucked out of pots to make way for the annuals of next year The perennials will rest only for a short period and annuals if lucky will self seed Fallow land in the dictionary Cont d

Guided Gardening is land that has undergone ploughing and harrowing and has been left unseeded for one or more growing seasons To me this version of fallowness speaks of farmland Home gardens however enter fallowness when all is bare and cooler to cold weather sets in Rogue seeds will have found their way to the soil and the true meaning of fallow unseeded is broken I m sure farmlands see their share of rogue seeds from agricultural plants grown the season before fallowness begins but is any soil truly fallow Do we as humans perhaps have a fallow time In our present lifestyles we are constantly busy We can only blame ourselves for not giving time to walk in the woods to look intensely at our own or others gardens or to walk on the beach and enjoy nature There was a time we sat still and got to know ourselves We all have gifts to develop within ourselves Let a fallow time begin and offer yourself a gift or two from the garden within Plants need a fallow season Seeds need a rest period to make an appearance in spring and we certainly need a fully awake fallow time to regenerate and to reflect We never seem to want to reflect or to want to feel the energy of the decline into fallowness We cast our eyes from the remainders of the garden s beauty of late summer and then we cast our eyes and attention to winter s extra curricular activities giving no in between time for reflection We neglect what is PAUL PARENT s gardening experiences began with a nudge from his mother when he was three years old He has been landscaping for over 31 years He owns a landscaping business specializing in garden designs and curb appeal He is a healer a developing medium and a writer of spiritual stories poetry and children s stories left of the garden within ourselves You could say that winter should be our fallow time When we enter the fallow time of our gardens it is the perfect opportunity to make garden plans look at landscaping ideas select plants for the oncoming garden season look at plant and seed catalogues and make seed selections One day in winter seemingly all of a sudden we glance at the bare garden and there is stillness a silent period a dormant period All is still and it lets us know that is how it should be Holger Zander Fotolia com Hallgerd Fotolia com

Phenomenon Orbs By Dorothy Jeanne Engst Q uite a list of possibilities has developed over the years since orbs first started showing up on photographs They range through Energy that is transferred from an electrical source such as a power line so spirit can manifest Particles of dust illuminated by the flash of the camera Susan and Edd Uluschak with orbs in these photos taken on different dates The human souls of people that have passed over Interplanetary life forms that use the orbs to view life on earth Reflected flash on a rainy night The first stage of a ghost manifestation Beings from other dimensions I m sure you could add a few of your own to the list After all it s all speculation Or is it There are individuals who have spent years photographing and studying the orb phenomenon The data they ve accumulated is thorough and seemingly accurate yet each person s research doesn t always lead in the same direction The occurrences of orbs through photography apparently increased after the development of digital cameras That being said our family has gone through several digital cameras and I have yet to record an orb on any of my shots Nor did I capture any orbs during our pre digital years I know that heavy duty orb sleuths spend copious amounts of time ensuring that they are in the same place at the same time as well as being there at as many other times as possible They do all this in hopes of orbs returning to bid another hello Patience has never been one of my stronger points and constant repetitive behaviour would wear thin very quickly with me So this must be why I am lacking orb infestation of any sort Thank heavens for our sleuths who keep us up to date on our planet s orb activity I mean this sincerely after all I wouldn t even know about orbs otherwise Cont d Volume 1 Issue 2 True Blue Spirit Page 23

Phenomenon While I was writing this a call came in from my daughter When I asked what her thoughts were on orbs she told me she hadn t heard about them After I explained them to her she proceeded to tell me about how the newer digital cameras have a special feature that won t pick up dust particles So you re telling me you think that orbs are just dust particles I said You got it she replied So let s just say that the orb we see in the photo of our cartoonist Edd Uluschak is dust and the same goes for the ones in the photo of his wife Susan Then why don t I ever get orbs at my place It s much dustier than theirs But even more interesting have a look at the photos on this page On the evening of October 13th while Edd and Susan were looking outside over Georgia Strait there was a faint orb of light that that glowed brightly and then grew dim Edd took a photo of it and e mailed it to me On first glance it looks black with any sort of orb barely visible But when I use the auto adjust on my photo software look what happens So tell me what do you think it was Photo to the left is a shot of the orb seen on the evening of October 13 2008 over Georgia Strait You can barely make out the round object Photo to the right is a the shot of the orb after appling the auto adjust from my photo software Volume 1 Issue 2 True Blue Spirit Page 25
k o o p A week at Stansted H By Dorothy Jeanne Engst I f you catch a local taxi from Stansted Essex all you have to tell the cabbie is take me to Spook Hall and they ll know what you mean Stansted Hall home of Arthur Findlay College is affectionately known to the locals as Spook Hall Although it isn t very spooky by my standards what you do feel when you walk into the place is the warm presence of spirits plenty of them And with this feeling comes a tingling of anticipation for the week ahead After checking into your room on a Saturday afternoon your spiritual retreat kicks off at 4 30 with welcomes and introductions No fear if you can t get all the instructors names straight there is a jampacked week ahead and plenty of opportunity to get to know them well The days kick off with breakfast at 8 am and most wrap up after 10 pm Of course with the college s own pub on site you could choose to mix and mingle a little longer In our case we were happy for the full course load After travelling 10 hours by plane we were determined to get as much out of the week as possible When there is a break between meditation lectures workshops or group development you can t help but wander the grounds and perhaps embrace one
Hall of the trees that have been growing for centuries You can only imagine all the history that has passed them by over the years There is plenty of new growth scattered throughout the grounds as well Much of it has been planted as a tribute in memory of a loved one or someone special that frequented the college in the past It brings forth the same curiosity you might find when walking through a cemetery when you imagine the lives of the people whose names are imprinted on stones and wood How many of these tributes at Arthur Findlay College carry the names of spirits that linger within its halls But no time for dawdling for inside those ancient walls you could be developing your sense of clairaudience learning the difference between psychism and mediumship or perhaps learning about the power of the aura Each day there is something new to look forward to along with continual development groups throughout the week Often a special guest has been invited to add extra excitement to the course schedule We were fortunate enough to be honoured with a visit from Jose Medrado a psychic painter brom Brazil who gave a lecture and demonstration of trance mediumistic painting What other excitement takes place behind the walls of Arthur Findlay College Well it was used as a hospital for soldiers during WWII What a perfect place to conduct a s ance with tables tilting and horns floating Perhaps you ll be fortunate enough to have an instructor who is willing to take you through these interesting scenarios It s gratifying enough to have a message from spirit communicated to you but much more exciting to have them dance a table over to you while sending their love So how did the college come about Stansted Hall was the retirement home of Arthur Findlay MBE JP who was a medium and former honorary president of the Spiritualist National Union In 1965 Mr Findlay bequeathed the estate to the Union to be used as a College for the advancement of psychic science So when you take in Arthur s giant portrait on the wall along with those of his family members who passed on long before him you ll find yourself stealing a second glance Did the face change or is it your mind playing games with you Or perhaps you ll stand at your window looking out over the estate at horses grazing in the neighbouring pasture There s a strange mist floating beneath the large tree or is it spirit stopping by for a visit Release your ego and let your intuition guide you through the happenings at Spook Hall Volume 1 Issue 2 True Blue Spirit Page 27

Children and Spirit My Other Mommy By Dorothy Jeanne Engst W ho is more open to the workings of spirit than young children They live their lives weaving between the real world and their world of make believe often finding it hard to differentiate between one and the other Because of this we often dispel the stories they share or tune out their garbled chatter with special friends unseen by our human eyes They say that children are especially receptive in the years prior to school age This is because they haven t had too much outside influence to plant seeds of doubt seeds that will take root and spread through their consciousness for years to come Our daughter her spouse and their children were renting a particular home for over two years When they decided to move closer into town our grandson Owen was understandably upset after all he was just three and a half years old so he had spent the major part of his life there On a daily basis Owen asked to go back to his other home and whenever they drove past the place he would cry and cry begging them to pull into the driveway One particular day as they drove by his eyes welled up with tears I miss my other mommy he said When his mother asked him what he was talking about Owen went on to tell her about his other mommy He said that she lived in their old home and she was there all the time Owen s other mommy would sit on the edge Volume 1 Issue 2 True Blue Spirit Page 31
Children and Spirit of his bed and she frequently told him stories about her two boys This was confirmed by Owen s sister who said that she had seen the woman as well Owen went on to say that he missed talking with his other mommy and that she was nice to him but she was sad too We could have sloughed this off as Owen having an imaginary friend but what a loss that would have been An investigation has provided us with some interesting information Before our daughter moved into the home a couple and their two boys had lived there The mother had died about a year or so prior of an aneurism it happened quickly and unexpectedly So who was this special friend of Owen s Was she imaginary or was she spirit There is no doubt in my mind Now my focus is to ensure the door stays open so our grandchildren can continue to be receptors for spirit and other phenomena I can only imagine the wonders they ll share The Children and Spirit column is a forum for sharing our children s experiences to learn and grow from them and yank out a few roots of doubt along the way To share your child s story please e mail publisher truebluespirit ca
Aboriginal Spirit Healing Wand By James Henry Spencer T z F slu ilo m ot o li a co m he healing wand is a very traditional part of the native culture dating back thousands of years or more When we are in harmony with nature nature brings those things to us that we require on our healing journey My healing wand came in to being in that way Each item on the wand is an integral part of who I am the information of its purpose came to me at the same time as each new stone or item was presented for my healing path For instance I put the word out to the universe that I required an owl s wings and claws for ceremonial purposes My wife and I were driving down a side road and out of the grass a raven jumped and almost hit the windshield of the car I said to my wife Stop the car the raven is trying to tell us something She stopped the car and I looked down and here was this bard owl with about a 20 inch wing span This is the way things come to me I also put the word out that I wanted eagle wings An eagle that my brother and I had been feeding for about 40 years was defending her territory around her nest Later one of the eagles had broken her wing and she died there on the rocks A friend of mine picked her up and brought the wings to me for ceremonial work Another time I was on the shore in Haida Gwaii The Queen Charlotte Islands it was a gravel beach On this beautiful sunny afternoon I was looking down and there was this little face on a stone looking up at me it was an image of a harbour seal ss Fotolia com jamin Ve Ben Page 34 True Blue Spirit Volume 1 Issue 2 Volume 1 Issue 2 True Blue Spirit Page 33

Hypnotherapy Creating our personal Reality By Barbara Adelborg CMH HT O ur thoughts create our reality What we think and focus on most of the time is what is manifested into our lives Our unconscious mind follows the direction of our thoughts and the feelings attached to those thoughts The more attention you give a thought the stronger the vibration around it creating a belief that this thought is true Whether it is a thought of something you want or a thought of something you do not want your focus Andre om a c toli o F zgue s R od r i and feeling begin to manifest the thought into your reality If for example you suffer from anxiety attacks and you awaken in the morning unconsciously dreading your day ahead then your thought becomes that focus This creates anxiety and dread within your consciousness and makes the thought very real for you Throughout your day the body will react with anxiety because of the emotion attached to the thought however by changing the feeling around the belief you are able to empower yourself to move into harmony with your body Using hypnosis as a tool you can objectively look at the situation and feel the feelings within the body and let them go leaving room for new feelings in the body that enhance your well being Change the focus from dread to peace and allow these peaceful feelings to flow through your being As the mind accepts these new thoughts and beliefs your body now aligns with itself creating a new reality of peace and joyfulness for you BARBARA ADELBORG is a clinical hypnotherapist and she maintains a practice in the Cowichan Valley where she has resided for over 30 years Barbara is trained in several hypnosis techniques and is currently producing her third hypnosis CD Volume 1 Issue 2 True Blue Spirit Page 35

The Power of Prayer By Carol Spencer W e are going through new and troubled times Spiritually financially and materially our worlds are being turned upside down We have had financial market crashes wars and weather devastations where lives have been changed in a moment For many people in the past their belief system gave them strength and courage But now so many more people don t have a religion or even a family unit to give them that strength As a child when in distressing or anxious times I recited the Lord s Prayer Reciting this prayer gave me comfort I didn t feel so isolated and I felt a connection even then with something incredibly powerful As an adult I still revert to the Lord s Prayer although not as often as when I was a child Now my focus is different when I repeat that prayer I use the prayer as a mantra When I am trying not to worry I use it as a filler of my mind to get me through stressful or awkward situations As a spiritual minister I was startled the first time someone came to me for guidance and they didn t know how to pray They felt that this was something churchy or to be done only in a religious setting What guidance did I offer on prayer Prayer is not meant to be the rote recital of some passage from the Bible Prayer is the unique expression of an individual asking for direction healing peace clarity or inspiration Prayer reminds us that we are interconnected human beings Prayer can be sung danced meditated or contemplated The results of our prayers Volume 1 Issue 2 True Blue Spirit Page 39
Robert Churchil istockphoto com will at the least be a communion with the self and with ongoing quiet times and prayers you will attain a sense of peace There is no doubt in my mind that our universal architect can hear us and does hear us Our job is to be patient and have faith that prayers our hearts desires will be heard and answered Prayer is the soul s expression of asking for the highest and best for our self and for others Offer prayers by wishing a person success and good health instead of criticism and judgement If you are asking the question What is the point of my life then it s time to take up learning to pray in a valuable way Deliberately work to keep fear and anxiety from your thoughts Prayer is a positive action of the mind and the self How can we expect any sort of world peace until we have found the peace within that comes with earnest prayer Life is sacred So I implore you take the time to tap into the power of prayer Page 40 True Blue Spirit Volume 1 Issue 2 A native of Salt Spring Island CAROL SPENCER established the Continuous Light Sanctuary in 1999 Continuous Light is a society dedicated to spiritualism where gatherings are held to share the philosophy and gifts of spirit Carol teaches meditation healing clairvoyance and psychic awareness
Mediumship White Crows and Flying Lobsters By Paul D Biscop ATR Ph D A s I noted in my first column the early American psychologist and parapsychological researcher William James made the case quite clear for survival beyond physical death He said something like In order to prove the existence of white crows you don t have to produce an entire flock One white crow will do He was referring to mediumship meaning that one good piece of evidence is enough to provide proof of life after death Logically he s quite correct but culturally he blew it What about albinism What about genetic anomaly What about hoax From a cultural and sociological perspective proof is not as clear as it may be in a laboratory But then today we also know that laboratory proof may not be so incisive either modern technology combined with lots of PR and advertising can make almost anything plausible So we must be a little more critical than in Jame s day and maybe a bit more cynical as well From the spiritualist perspective truth or proof is in the eye of the beholder sort of It is always said that proof is personal but if you are open to receiving proof of survival that proof will always be given tailored to your needs What about those of us who are a little more skeptical Ah but the question really is Do you actually want proof of survival Not everybody really lia Foto at C n e i l A does Once you have it you can t really live your life quite the same way anymore If you really know that life is eternal then you can t simply live just for yourself And spiritually you can t get away with anything either because of the existence of spiritual laws Your values and priorities will change must change But maybe it really doesn t matter anyway Maybe it doesn t matter if you never see your loved ones again or your friends or your pets Or even yourself looking back at you from the mirror Who really cares What does it matter to know if there s life after death Volume 1 Issue 2 True Blue Spirit Page 41
Mediumship The problem is it s not only knowing that life goes on after death or not It s also about meaning about the human need to make sense out of life that comes along with human consciousness This need leads to the creation of belief systems especially religious belief systems all over the world Typically truth gets lost in meaning and people become all too often tyrannized by the belief systems they trust in Science is not a belief system though some people would argue that it is and that it is just the same as religion Life after death either exists or it does not There are no other possibilities We may not yet be able to prove it scientifically but some day that may happen There are scientific indications that it is so and reasonable social scientific arguments that life is eternal That s not faith either So I may not have found any white crows in the physical sense but I still believe I ve given them to many people through my mediumship of 40 years Why just the other day I saw a flying lobster I was sitting on my front porch down in the south end of town looking over to Duke Point and a lobster went flying by Fo tolia com Zigrit Now I must admit I was sipping a glass of wine out on the porch But being a good son of the Maritime Provinces I couldn t resist the lure of a passing lobster even if it was flying by So I jumped down from the porch and started down the street after it The young guy across the street came out just then and I yelled out to him Did you see the flying lobster go by What the hell are you on he said Whatever it is I want some No no I said It s a flying lobster it s a balloon Then he said There it is around the corner in the tree Man I thought you were nuts Well I retrieved the flying lobster and now it s standing on its head in my dining room Maybe I haven t found a real white crow yet but when lobsters can fly there s hope although maybe only under the right conditions In addition to being a spiritualist medium and speaker DR PAUL BISCOP is a registered art therapist and a cultural anthropologist Along with writing non fiction fiction and poetry Paul is an artist who shows and sells his art
