  In the 1920's Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks made animated shorts called "Newman's Laugh-O-Grams. But their company soon went bankrupt. Walt made a character called Oswald the Lucky Rabbit but M.J. Winkler and Charles Mintz her husbend stole the rights to Oswald. Walt was doodling while taking a train home what he drew was a mouse called Mickey. Walt made two cartoons with Mickey but they didn't sell. Walt added sound to the Mickey cartoon called Steamboat Willie (1928) and it gained popularity. Then Walt created 'Silly Symphonies' a cartoon series withou a continuous character. It was a success, and one cartoon called Flowers and Trees was the first cartoon in color and the first cartoon to win an Oscar. Another cartoon called The Three Little Pigs was so popular it billed above featured films. On December 15,1966 Walt Disney died but it didn't stop production of the films he made and his partner Roy carried on the project of building a Florida theme park later called Walt Disney World
