The first people to visit New York was the Italian explorer Giovanni Da Verrazzano   in 1524. In 1609  Henry Hudson sailed what is now the Hudson River. New York was also a major battle ground in the Revolutionary war.  It was the 11th state that rejoined the Union

In New york it is a very metropolotin  city because it has many different types of foods. It goes from Mexican food all the way to American styled hot dogs. It has pretty much foods from all continates



New York is involved in every type of economic activity. They also have the largest manufacturing business. 



New York City is located in the northeast section of the U.S.A. It borders with Lake Erie, the Candian province of Ontario, Lake Ontario and the Canadian province of Quebec

New York City is one of the original 13 colonies. It was named after the English Duke of New York.



Immigrants are a major part of New York's  history still today. 1/5 was   born in another  country. 2/3 are European. The largest group are the African Americans and Hispanics.

New York City is packed with world-famous sites. One of them is the Statue of Liberty, which is located on it's bay. New York City also holds the best known skyscraper in all of the Manhattan skyline. Near Manhattan lay Central Park. The Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts  holds the world class orchestra, ballet and opera companies. Some of the museums include the  Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art.
