Pebble Beach
Concours d’Elegance Tour
Join Us On This
In 1950 the first Pebble Beach Concours was held in conjunction with the first Pebble
Beach Road Race. Racing great Phil Hill, who went on to become a successful Formula 1
driver, won the race in a Jaguar XK120. Best of Show went to a 1950 Edwards R26 Special
Sports Roadster owned by its creator Sterling Edwards. Since that time the event has
grown to become one of the world’s most prestigious concours events and entries are now
by invitation only.
This FULLY ESCORTED SELF DRIVE tour will take you from Los Angeles through the
California wine country north to Eureka and the amazing redwoods of the Avenue of
Giants then south to Napa Valley and on to Monterey for Speed Weed and the Pebble
Beach Concours. You will join iconic events, attractions and motor collections
culminating with a drive down the fabled Highway 1 back to Los Angeles and our Gala
Farewell Dinner at the Langham Harrington Hotel in Pasadena.
You will stay in wonderful Four Star accommodation and your travel companions are like
minded people with an interest in classic motoring and relaxed touring. You can depart
and arrive from your hotel each day in your own luxury car and in your own time as every
day’s itinerary is plotted on our GPS units that will lead you through the days attractions
and finally to your hotel each evening.
If you love touring and Pebble Beach is on your bucket list, this is an outstanding

little river
We leave the luxury of the Carter House
this morning and just south of town
turn off the freeway for the Avenue of
the Giants, the world-famous scenic
drive that parallels Freeway 101 with
over 50,000 acres of redwood groves.
It is by far the most outstanding display
of these giant trees in the entire 500-
mile redwood belt so this is definitely a
“camera ready” day. There’s plenty to
see on the way through and just south
of Leggett, you’ll find the Drive Thru
Tree before we turn onto the northern
section of Highway 1 towards the coast.
After about 20 miles we turn south and
continue to follow Highway 1 along the
Pacific Coast through Fort Bragg and

It’s a short run back across the
mountains for lunch at an Italian
Restaurant at Calistoga then off to
Castello di Amorosa for a taste of Napa’s
finest.
The winery is housed in a recreated
“Tuscan” Castle that is well worth
exploring before a tasting in the cellars.
Leave at your leisure and it’s just 30
minutes to our hotel for the next two
nights, the Hyatt Andaz at Napa.
Dinner tonight is your choice.
DAY 8 Wednesday AUGUST 17TH
NAPA
Mid morning we board the Napa Valley
Wine Train for the three-hour, thirty-six
mile journey from the historic town of
Napa, through one of the world's most
well known wine valleys to the quaint
village of St. Helena, and back.
We’ll enjoy a freshly prepared lunch and
a glass or two of the local product inside
the fully restored 1952 Vista Dome car.
The train begins its journey at the
McKinstry Street Station in Napa then
travels north to St. Helena, where the
locomotive disconnects from the north
facing side of the Train and reconnects to
the south side in preparation for the
return journey.
The tracks run through the heart of the
world famous wine region and stops at
different wineries en-route. Dinner
tonight is included at Bistro Giovani,
local restaurant consistently rated as one
of the Bay Area’s top restaurants.

Museum where over 100 years of automotive
genius and design excellence is gathered
together in a collection of over 50 vehicles
from a 1906 Cadillac to a 1954 Aston Martin
Spider to a 1967 Pontiac GTO.
Vintage and luxury cars from Italy, France,
England and the United States represent an
exciting period of history.
The museum also houses “The Spirit of the
Old West” exhibit tracing the history of the
United States and is regarded as the most
significant collection outside the Smithsonian
Institute in Washington..
Speed Week at Monterey features over 20
events ranging from classic motor racing at
Laguna Seca, fine arts events and auctions of
some of the world’s most desirable
automobiles.
Originally a small social event paired with a
road race through the pine and cypress
forests of Pebble Beach, the Pebble Beach
Concours d’Elegance has grown into one of
the top-ranking collector car shows in the
world.

near Oxnard where there is a drinks reception in
the hotel from 5.30 until 7:00.

WHAT’S INCLUDED
Where do the tours start?
The start and finish city for each tour is detailed on the
TOUR section of the website. As the actual starting
address may change to accommodate local events, you will
be provided updated information prior to departure and
once the tour has started you may start each day as you
please.
I haven’t driven in another country before, is it
difficult?
If you are changing from right to left hand drive, or vice
versa is not as difficult as imagined and you will find that
you will settle in to the “wrong” side of the car within a
couple of hours. No navigation skills are required and
each car is provided with a GPS navigator (to be returned
at the end of the tour) with each day of the tour route
loaded so you just need to follow the spoken directions and
if you choose to take a detour, the GPS will get you back on
track.
What kind of hotels do we stay in?
All tour itineraries has been driven and checked by the tour
leader and each hotel personally inspected. We endeavour
wherever possible to stay in not less than 4 star
establishments and most tours are definitely 5 Star so one
night you may be in an historic country house and the next
in a 5 Star contemporary hotel. Your accommodation will
include outstanding scenery, character and service. Fine
food is also near the top of the list and all accommodation
is chosen to reflect the nature and style of the region
through which we are travelling.
What meals are included?
Breakfast is included every day and the included dinners
are usually on the first night when we are staying more
than one night at a hotel or we are in a remote location.
On other nights dinner, is of your choosing and we can
provide you with options if you do not wish to dine in the
hotel. Lunches are usually not included except when we
have the opportunity to dine somewhere that offers
something rewarding, such as the Post Ranch perched high
on a cliff overlooking the rugged coast at Big Sur or
Blenheim Palace in the UK.
Do you provide any support?
If you are renting a car, the supplier will provide support
but if you are using your own car we strongly recommend
that you arrange for reciprocal cover through your local car
club or arrange independent breakdown insurance.
Naturally we will do all we can to assist in the event of a
breakdown and you will be provided with a list of contact
numbers in your tour pack at the start of the tour.
What is the daily routine?
You can leave the overnight accommodation at your
leisure. If you are following the tour leader we will
generally leave around 9:00 am with a view to arriving at
the evening accommodation by 5:00pm and the departure
time for the next day will be in the Daily Update delivered
to your room each evening. On days where we are not
relocating, tours may be included or your tour book will
provide you with various options or you can just do your
own thing. Many tours are orientated towards a
motoring holiday but it’s not always about cars. On “Car”
orientated tours you will see some outstanding auto
collections but there is always something for everyone
especially the fairer sex. We visit the tour country’s most
spectacular locations and attractions from the ocean to the
alps and you will drive through some of the most amazing
country you will see anywhere. Socialising and relaxation
are vital to the enjoyment of your holiday and each day we
recommend morning and afternoon stops and somewhere
interesting for lunch.
Can I go by myself or is it only for couples?
Yes, although you may incur some cost penalties if
travelling alone as most hotels charge by the room. If you
are considering travelling alone contact us for more details,
and we will do our best to match you up with a compatible
partner.
What is the dress code?
Daywear is as informal as you wish and “smart casual” is
sufficient for evening wear. On a few occasions you may
choose to be more a little formal such as at Salon Prive or
the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance where attire should
be stylish comfortable and convenient for walking. On the
Goodwood Revival tour we recommend joining in the spirit
of the event and dressing in your best 50’s and 60’s attire.
Styles range from dressy to resort casual. Temperatures
are often cool in the morning and evening, and warm
during the day, so layering is recommended.
What types of cars are on the tour?
If you are renting a car through us, cars included in the
tour are Luxury Class but we can also offer you a wide
range of convertibles and coupes from European to
American Muscle cars depending upon location. Each tour
itinerary nominates the base car included in the tour but
don’t forget to ask for options or upgrades if the standard
car is not to your liking.
How far will we drive in a day?
This varies from day to day and we try to limit car time to 3
to 4 hours. In some cases this will mean covering a
substantial distance on freeways and motorways and on
other quite a short distance. There are many days on each
tour where there is little if no distance to cover and we try
to have as many multiple day stops as possible rather than
be moving every day. We try to avoid motorways and
freeways whenever possible and the vast majority of our
driving is on quieter back roads.
What type of people will I meet on the tour?
The common interest is a love of driving, adventure, good
food, fine wine and interesting company. Age range is
generally in the more “mature’ bracket and you will meet
people from many and varied backgrounds.
We usually limit the number of cars to 15 or 30 people and
you will be sure to find other participants that share your
interests. Some have been touring for years while others
are first time tourers.
How do I book?
Firstly check with us by email or phone to ensure that there
are places still available. Once you have decided to join us,
either download or complete the booking form on line from
the “Book Now” tab and either email it to us or send by
post with your deposit. Once your booking has been
received we will send you confirmation of your acceptance
and a receipt for your deposit.
