SEO and whatnot Having your own website gives you the flexibility of controlling your narrative Once you re online and have an SEOoptimized website you have a chance of showing up in Google search results This means that when people are searching for a product or service there is a chance your website will show up in the results This gives you the opportunity to drastically increase your customer base

Your personal profiles should remain personal As a new business owner your first thought may be to reach out to the friends and family that you already have to boost your business Again this isn t a bad tactic But your clientele isn t always going to be on your friend s list Conducting business on a personal profile is a big no no and against ToS for most social media platforms Your business should have it s own profile

Access Whether you work three days a week or seven your time handling clients should end on your terms Everyone should have business hours Additionally your clients do not need to have access to you 24 7 If they have questions about a service a simple FAQ sheet on your website or business page can be their reference Business inquiries should be sent via email And lastly your clients should NOT have your personal phone number If you aren t able to obtain a business number a Google Voice number can easily be used as an alternative and it s free
