Message from District Governor Michael W. Kesti3Dear Fellow Rotarians, Rotaractors, Interactors & Friends:As we end the 2022 – 2023 fiscal year and I soon will become Immediate Past District Governor, I want to take a moment to thank everyone for a great start to our District’s Environment Committee (ESDAC). We have conducted beach cleanups throughout the District, over five hundred trees were planted, recycling programs were a great success and so much more has happened. I am also pleased to report that about 50% of the Clubs have earned the Governor’s Special Environmental Citation. This has happened through individual efforts and Club’s participation. I look forward to seeing our District’s progress next year and beyond. I know that Governor-Elect Barbara Gobbi shares my enthusiasm for Rotary’s Seventh Area of Focus, Supporting the Environment. There is so much more that we can do and we are off to a great start.Michael W. Kesti District Governor - Rotary International District 6990===========================================================Dear Fellow Rotarians, Rotaractors, Interactors & Friends:As this fiscal year comes to a close, I want to thank Gov. Kesti for establishing this Committee and everyone for their support in addressing environmental issues in our District and beyond. This bulletin reviews our June activities and you will also see our Monthly Environmental Action Plan and Governor-Elect, Barbara Gobbi’sEnvironmental Citations and Award requirements. Our success is fully dependent upon the involvement of our Clubs. It is most important that each Club have an Environmental Chair. Actually, this position needs to be the Environmental Champion in their Club and motivate their members to get involved. While we will continue to emphasize plastic pollution, beach cleanup and tree plantings, we will also address other areas, such as mangroves and education. Your feedback and comments are appreciated.Sincerely,Robert H. BullESDAC ChairWorld Mangrove DayJuly 26th

A PICTURE IS WORH ONE THOUSAND WORDSJuly 26this World Mangrove Day. Mangroves are important to reduce beach erosion, they are a great carbon sink, they help biodiversity as small marine animals can hide in their roots, and they can absorb phosphate and nitrate pollutants. Help clear our Oceans of plastic pollution.Join ENDPLASTICSOUP!You, too, can help biodiversity. Small steps make a big difference.Join ESRAG!15
