MEET Lauren MadiganPresident of Presbyterian Healthcare Services“As a New Mexican, I have deep ties to our communities and to Presbyterian. As we begin this new journey together, the most important commitment I can make is the commitment each of us makes at Presbyterian – to deliver on our purpose and help our fellow NewMexicans achieve their best health. Donations to Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation help fund important projects that make it possible for us to improve the health of ourcommunities.”Big Changes Start HereIn this video, Presbyterian President Lauren Madigan talks about how philanthropic support can help create big change in our community. In September 2023, Lauren Madigan was named President of Presbyterian Healthcare Services. Since joining Presbyterian in 1999, she has held several leadership positions, ranging from leading operations for Presbyterian hospitals to guiding innovations for ambulatory (outpatient) services. Most recently, she established the Ventures Department to identify initiatives that support Presbyterian’s growth strategy. As Vice President of Ventures, Lauren led the development of ambulatory surgery centers and PRESNow 24/7 Urgent and Emergency Care locations to expand access to quality, affordable care. For almost 25 years, Lauren’s deep understanding of the community and market, coupled with her visionary and collaborative leadership, has helped Presbyterian deliver on our purpose.Message from Rick Scott President, Presbyterian Healthcare FoundationPresbyterian Healthcare Foundation is proud to share our 2023 Donor Impact Report. We’re excited about two major changes to this annual update. First, rather than featuring individual donors, you’ll find stories that focus on donor impact – how your philanthropy shapes the lives of individual people. Second, and perhaps most obvious, this is our first-ever, fully digital report. High-impact video and photography help to amplify these stories. Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation (PHF) celebrated a series of milestones in 2023, including some important anniversaries for our special fundraising events.Laughter’s Final Curtain CallSupports Workforce DevelopmentThe grand finale of PHF’s Laughter is the Best Medicine event netted more than $450,000, which is being used to help the Presbyterian workforce learn new skills and advance their healthcare careers through scholarships and trainingopportunities. Proceeds from the event are also helping equip the Healthcare Advanced Learning Lab (HALL), a simulation center at the Presbyterian Rev. Hugh Cooper Administrative Center that will use cutting-edge technology and high-fidelity simulators to provide a safe and realistic experiential learning environment for clinicians.Luminary Circle Celebrates 10 YearsPHF donors and staff gathered in September to celebrate the first 10 years of Luminary Circle, a patient assistance and amenities program. Luminary Circle’s primary purpose is to convey gratitude to our most generous donors, who collectively have given nearly $60 million todate. As we look to the future, we hope to increase awareness of this program throughout the community, welcome new members, and continue to offer exceptional benefits and services to our Luminary Circle family.Special thanks to Garcia Automotive Group, presenting sponsor of Daffodil Days for 2023 and 2024.Learn more about how Presbyterian is supporting the future of healthcare in this video. The opening of the HALL, anticipated in Fall 2024, will overhaul the way Presbyterian onboards, orients and integrates new employees to their jobs and to Presbyterian. Positive TransformationAfter 19 years as a surgeon and a growing number of work responsibilities, Kevin Hudenko, MD, was racing to get everything done so he could be minimally present for his family and friends. He begrudgingly participated in the RESET program, despite thinking “it would just be a waste of time,” but says he is “VERY glad” he took advantage of theopportunity. “RESET could be viewed as a lifeline for clinicians who are feeling burned out or dissatisfied in what their careers might have become over time; it also could be helpful for someone who is just starting out and would like to avoid the typical pitfalls that very successful people can encounter. There is never a good reason to avoid an opportunity for introspection in my opinion and being able to do it alongside colleagues and clinicians who actually DO understand what your life might be like is a key strength of the program,” says Dr. Hudenko.Supporting Our People The Foundation has prioritized the well-being of our healthcare providers and addressing the burnout they may experience. The highly interactive RESET (RX for Self-renewal and Transformation) workshops for providers, including physicians and advanced practice clinicians (APCs), are fully funded by PHF. These multi-day retreats are specifically designed to foster the overall wellness and growth of Presbyterian physicians and APCs.Kevin Hudenko, MD, FACS,General Surgery Presbyterian Rust Medical Center Presbyterian Medical GroupJoy in Medicine FundAfter participating in RESET, participants report the followingimpact:• 97% say they will be able to manage their energy and identify new approaches to rejuvenate themselves on a consistent basis.• 98% say this activity is relevant to their practice.• 98% say they would recommend this program to a friend or colleague.Fundraising Priorities 2023-242023 DONOR IMPACT REPORT7

Enhancing Patient Care In 2023, PHF was able to expand the neurosurgery program by funding a portion of the O-Arm surgical platform, plus other surgical equipment needs, and launch the teleneurology program to provide access for Presbyterian regional hospitals.2023-24 Fundraising PrioritiesNeuroscience Excellence FundBack in the SaddleJake Lopez is thrilled to be back on his horse. Just last August, he was in the Santa Fe National Forest north of his ranch in Truchas, trying to round up a bull that needed veterinary care. When Jake got too close, the bull threw his head up, hitting Jake on the backside and throwing him down, face first onto a large boulder, leaving him unconscious. Jake’s wife, Lisa, his brother and nephew quickly loaded him into a pick-up truck and drove him as fast as they could to Presbyterian Española Hospital. From there, he was airlifted to Presbyterian Hospital, where neurosurgeon Gregory Sherr, MD, MPH, the Julia Bowdich and John Carey Chair of Neuroscience, and his colleague Janet Miller, APC, were waiting to perform surgery.Jake had a life-threatening brain bleed, orbital fractures and other headinjuries.Promising News“When Dr. Sherr called me afterward, he told me he would be very surprised if Jake didn’t make a full recovery, and he was right!” Lisa says. “I heard pride for his work in his voice. It’s reassuring to hear someone basically say, ‘that was my best work.’”After six days in intensive care, six days in the neurology unit and 10 days in acute rehab, Jake was able to go home. He remembers nothing from his time in the hospital but remembers everything since his release from rehab. Today, Jake estimates he is 90% recovered and expects to regain his strength throughexercise.“I spent the entire time with him from the emergency department to rehab to therapy afterward and I was really impressed with everyone I worked with. They were kind and if there was an issue, they brainstormed how to fix it,” Lisasays.“We both feel very strongly that the quality care Jake received is directly connected to the great outcome he has had,” Lisasays.Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation8

In 2023, the Foundation allocated nearly $100,000 for Nursing and Clinical Staff education in the form of scholarships for 103 recipients throughout New Mexico. Additional funding supported other continuing education needs for staff to learn new skills, maintain certifications and ensure the latest, evidence-based care forpatients.Alexandra Gover, BSN, RN, is a grateful recipient of the Walton, Archuleta and Rust Family scholarships. She used funds she received from these scholarships to complete an RN to BSN program and currently works as a Clinical Professional Development Specialist in Presbyterian’s Clinical Education department. Her long-term career goal is to continue working in Clinical Nursing Education and eventually earn a Master of Science in Nursingdegree.Fundraising for the Presbyterian Hospital-based Pace Academy patient education program, Presbyterian Robert Wertheim Hospice House, and nursing and clinical education is ongoing. In 2023, with the help of philanthropy, all three programs continued toexpand.See how the Presbyterian Pace Academy helps sick children look forward to brighter futures in this video.Ongoing FundraisingThe number of Presbyterian patients who need homecare or end-of-life care is growing: as of March 1, 2024, Presbyterian’s healthcare at home and hospice programs had a record census of 1,002 patients. The Robert Wertheim Hospice House, which celebrated its one-year anniversary in 2023, provided hospice care to approximately 200patients last year. “One patient, who did not have any family and rarely received visitors, appreciated celebrating her birthday at the hospice house. She was a nurse all her life and loved the care she received. She always requested to speak with the me to express how amazing the staff was and how they always made her feel likefamily.”– Tara Duggan, Assistant Nurse Manager, Hospice“The Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation genuinely invests in the professional development of its workforce by helping alleviate barriers to continuing education. These scholarships exist as a benefit to many of us working for Presbyterian,” Alexandra says. The Presbyterian Pace Academy helps pediatric patients stay on track with their schoolwork and eases their re-entry into a regular classroom setting after they are healthy enough to return to school. In 2023, thanks to the generosity of our donors, PHF was able to fund a full-time learning specialist for theprogram.2023 DONOR IMPACT REPORT9

In 2023, the Foundation bestowed 332 Guardian Angel awards on 227 Presbyterian providers andstaff. The Guardian Angel Program is a meaningful way to express gratitude, while making an impact on healthcare in New Mexico by supporting critical needs at Presbyterian through a monetary donation.A Year of GratitudeHonor a Guardian Angel: www.phs.org/guardianangelLearn more about the impact of PHF’s Guardian Angelprogram in this video.“Dr. Jordan was just this unbelievably compassionate person. When I met her, it just made me feel better that humans like her exist in theworld.”–Jennifer Hull, patient and Guardian Angel donorDonations to the Foundation directly impact programs and services throughout Presbyterian and help to ensure the future of outstanding healthcare in our community. Patients make donations in honor of their physician, nurse, housekeeper, or other Presbyterian employee who made a difference during their visit or stay.Congratulations to these amazing honorees, many of whom have received multiple Guardian Angel awards.Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation10
