Pathology Free PressPathology Free PressPathology Free PressFriends,It has been my pleasure and my privilege to work with so many wonderful and gifted people here. Those whose memories I will cherish the most are or were in this Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. I've always said that it was the people here that mattered to me the most. Perhaps some wonder how I could stay here for 44+ years. A big part of it was that Kris and I learned of the beautiful side of Loyola University Medical Center early on in our marriage as patients or being the parents of patients. There are many angels that have been in our lives. Several of them are working or have worked here caring for our family. Also, things always seemed to change here every few years. So did the pathology chairs until Eva Wojcik took over. She's the best chair we've ever had and yet, for me, a far better friend. Thank you all for your friendship, good wishes, wonderful letters and pictures. I can't view them until I'm home as I'll need tissues and an adult beverage. How much do I love Loyola, this department and the laboratory operation? Well, years ago, I learned a phrase from an attorney who had hired me as an expert witness. It answers that question. Res ipsaloquitur! 'The thing speaks for itself.' I've been here 44+ years!I'll still be 'around' as a professor emeritus in the department. Semi-retired with my new email being skahn@luc.edu. I'll be enjoying my semi-retirement from Stately Kahn Manor in Palos Park. Kris and I were born and raised on the south side of Chicago. Our immediate family and many friends are all here. Chicago will always be our home. But so will Loyola and, especially, our department and our laboratory. As Eva says, Once A Loyolan Always A Loyolan (OALAAL)!Your friend,Steve
