FEBRUARY 3, 2023On February 3rdwe recognize all women physicians on the National Women Physicians Day. The event celebrates Elizabeth Blackwell’s birthday; she was the first female medical doctor in the U.S. The day was established in 2017 to honor women doctors across the country, and the progress they’ve made since Blackwell’s time. Nationally, there are still fewer female doctors than male doctors, but the progress is steady. In 2022, approximately 37% of U.S. physicians are female. However, in our department, currently, women are the majority (13/20 MDs).Women Leadership of the Pathology Department Pathology representatives in the Loyola Women Physician leadership
