Why do you think so many pet owners are now investing in products such as this Pet owners share a wonderful companionship and relationship with their pets You can always rely on your pet to be there for you and humans acknowledge this loyalty by showing off their pet every chance they get More and more young couples are even opting to own a pet before raising a child Plus there is nothing on this Earth cuter than your own pet so why wouldn t you want their image printed on a product which you can flaunt and show off Is there a specific group of people who Petflair products are targeted at Predominately pet owners and lovers But we also target our products towards anybody who feels like a change needs to be implemented in the pet industry We encourage all customers to upload a picture of their purchase online with the hashtags PoundPaws and AdoptDontShop as we want to raise awareness about these important issues If we can spread this powerful message in a fun and feel good way then we have succeeded What do you think it means to be a pet owner There is so much to take into consideration before choosing to commit to a pet It is important that new pet owners understand that pets are a 10 15 year commitment They are not gifts that you can exchange on Valentines Day and they are most importantly not a fad which you purchase because everybody else has one They will tap into your savings leave fur on your clothes and even eat out of your trash but you will love them regardless because they are a part of your life Part of my charity Pound Paws key message is to educate people about responsible pet ownership as one of the main reasons for pets ending up in the pound is because owners don t realise how much of a commitment they are Being a pet owner and more importantly being a responsible pet owner means giving your pet unconditional love and treating them with lots of respect like you would any other member of Where did the idea for Petflair originate from your family One of the co founders Tyler Martin operates a swimwear label What is your biggest achievement to date called Delfina Sport and he gifted his friend a swimsuit with her My biggest achievement to date would have to be launching my dog printed on it as a joke She ended up loving it and wearing charity Pound Paws in 2014 This is something I have been working the swimsuit every chance she had After that Tyler felt excited towards since my late primary school days and something I have about the idea of launching this project and approached Charlie always dreamt of pursuing in my adult life Gearside who is a guru of all things tech to join the team The boys It is a dream come true to wake up every morning and work on then approached me about getting involved as I am probably one something I feel so passionate about And nothing makes me of the biggest pet lovers they know And I was all in as soon as I happier than successfully re homing pets and then hearing about heard about their idea their happily fur ever after story 20

INTERVIEW HOUNDHUB What was your inspiration for Hound Hub Hound Hub started when my partner and I adopted our first Greyhound Nero Adopting Nero opened my eyes up to how much work was actually involved by the rescue group and what a great job they were doing I wanted to find a way to give back and help raise money for a Greyhound rescue group here in Perth so I decided to create some metal Greyhound silhouette keyrings and sell them with all profits going to that organisation I received a lot of good feedback and decided to take the leap and open a From personalised products to quarterly donations at different animal rescue organisations HoundHub Australia is the perfect example of how to to manage your business whilst symultaneously making a difference in the world of pets business based around personalised items that gives back to a selected rescue group each quarter Thus Hound Hub was born How do you make sure each item is personalised Every personalised item is created directly from a photo of a pets face I then draw these up with our software and capture each unique marking as close as possible Once our drawings are approved I then have them made into keyrings magnets and brooches in either plywood or acrylic Theres a lot of time and care involved when making these items because I want them to be perfect for each and every customer Image thorthestaffy What is the best part of your job That would have to be when I open an email and see the adorable pets that I get to use to create a personalised item I love hearing about each individual pets backstory I also create items for people whose pets have passed away and I find it incredibly rewarding being able to provide them with something that they can carry everyday to remind them of their beloved pups There are so many great aspects about my job the list could go on and on How do you ensure Hound Hub stands out from other similar businesses I take pride in Hound Hub being a very personable business Our products are one of a kind and each item drawn represents the personality of the pets we are inspired by What does being a pet owner mean to you It means that even on your worst day you have a best friend who s there for you unconditionally and brightens up your day It also makes you responsible for more than just yourself I have two hounds who need me just as much as I need them If anything my boys have taught me how to take time out to appreciate the little things in life How do you work towards making a difference in the pet world With each purchase from Hound Hub whether it be a keyring or our treats a percentage of our profits go to an allocated rescue group which is selected every quarter I also try my hardest to help out and volunteer with that group during the time we support them I have even done a kennel sleepout I think exposing the great work these rescue groups do is so important and it also shows people the benefits of adopting and fostering pets 22

MEET DIANE GLEM Read the incredibly moving and inspirational story of Diane Glem who s work is a true representation of what it means to be a voice for the voiceless Diane advocates and networks to save dogs in high kill shelters And as a proud member of Ruff Start Rescue she has built a strong community of fellow animal advocates who all share in her dream which is to make a 31 difference in the world of pets

As an advocate I have always been interested in animal welfare I have been with Ruff Start Rescue for almost two years now and raising awareness about animal cruelty conducting home checks for potential adopters transporting pets and working in wellness vetting clinics which helps the Even as a young girl I cared for abandoned animals that I found community receive low cost veterinarian care to benefit their in the neighbourhood and helped nurse them back to good pets health I also enjoy being an adoption event leader which health My mother was always supporting my efforts and would gives our foster pets lots of exposure help me rescue the neglected pets that others turned away and would help me find them a suitable home This is what has driven These events give me the opportunity to talk to the community me to continue being their voice about what it means to be a foster parent and how fostering saves lives It s exciting to get out into the community and share To me being a pet owner means nothing other than providing my passion with others that share the same beliefs and discuss them with stability comfort good nutrition and most importantly Animal Welfare issues with community members In the past lots of love I believe pets give us a sense of what it means to couple of years I have noticed more advocates joining this care for something that gives back unconditional love They crusade to help animals in need and I believe that through the provide a gentle peaceful sense of well being and pets have power of social media dogs in our shelters have been getting even been proven to lengthen the lives of seniors and the sick more exposure And to me that says a lot I knew years ago that our shelters were filling up as However we still struggle with smaller people s lives began to increasingly get towns and rural areas as we are busier and people didn t have time for trying to get them on the same level their pets anymore Five years ago I downloaded Instagram and I started uploading photos of dogs sitting alone and scared in these shelters across the nation I immeditaetely knew I wanted to help make a difference and I found myself connecting with advocates that It s all about taking an active role in being a compassionate citizen of exposure But this is something we are working on As we move into the new year I have loved seeing many of us continue our networking efforts and bringing awareness to the many healthy beautiful and adoptable dogs that are just waiting to be loved But shared the same passion as I did which they are stuck in our broken flawed connected me to shelters and rescues system This system will continue to all over the United States We achieve stay broken until our legislation and our goals by raising awareness through daily networking and our state representatives get on board and push for stricter working methodically on a particular shelter dog that has been laws against animal abusers for every city Promoting spaying put on the euthanasia list which is not only stressful but very neutering and low cost vetting programs as well as education time consuming Many of us advocates that have been doing programs in our schools aimed at teaching children about the this for a very long time do this by reposting images of the dogs importance of showing compassion towards animals will make we are saving emailing rescue centres looking for foster homes a huge difference and raising pledges for a registered reputable rescue to adopt the dog into their care I would also like to see food shelves for pets established so low income families are not forced to get rid of their pets Most I have a strong passion for senior dogs as I cared for three but importantly I would love to see programs for seniors citizens sadly I lost two this year in January 2018 But I continue to try and created to assist them in getting their companion animals to the highlight the benefits of adopting a senior pet such as they are vet grooming appointments and anything else they need house trained tolerant gentle and a grateful companion I spent I believe we can all take part and make a difference in our three years dedicating myself to networking dogs on a national own community by reaching out to local governments and level and I realised I wanted to do more locally here in my own spreading awareness through communication with family state I started researching local rescues and found Ruff Start members friends and co workers It s all about taking an active Rescue Minnesota to be an excellent company to volunteer with role in being a compassionate citizen DIANE GLEM

S dinner gone and had a few drinks together and when we got back to our accomodation he just dropped dead It was completley unexpected He d been planning a trip around Australia for 15 years for when he retired and he never got to do it I d been wanting to travel to Canada since I was 16 years old but always found excuses So I decided I had to make it happen whilst I had the chance But I had Mya and I d choosen to make her apart of my family she hadn t choosen that She was my responsibility and I felt like I couldn t leave her behind I saw online some of the adventures people were having with their dogs in North America and decided that it was the lifestyle I wanted us to have What is your favourite memory since you both started on this journey We get asked this all the time There are too many favorites but three do stand out The first would be the first time I went skiing with Mya in Big White because I really love skiing and to share that with her was really special The second would be at Niagara Falls taking in the magnificent view together and the third is white water rafting together in Squamish The last one was a big step because Mya isn t a fan of deep water and it took a lot of effort and patience to get her comfortable enough to experience this with me Hopefully it has opened up the door for a lot of other future adventures What is the best and in contrast the most difficult aspect of What is the story behind adopting Mya travelling with your pet The story of Mya coming into my life is actually pretty ordinary The best aspect is that you get to share memories with your I d wanted my own dog for as long as I could remember and I m best friend and the worst would be that not everywhere is so a big advocate for people researching a dog before making that welcoming of dogs and sometimes this creates lots of obstacles commitment Although I loved the look of the Huskys Malamutes and difficulties and wolves I knew their breed s traits wouldn t suit my lifestyle and I didn t think I could give them the home they deserved I Where to from here then came across White Shepherds and after reading about their That really depends on what opportunities come up At this personality traits and I knew this breed would be perfect for me stage we are planning to stay in Canada until April May 2019 If I found a local breeder who fortunately just had a litter and when we can find enough support for another month we would love she was five week s old I met Mya She immediately came over to visit Alaska but this may or may not happen We definitely to me rolled on to her back and wanted a belly rub I then visited plan to head back to Australia and hopefully go on a road trip Mya a few times after that until she was eight weeks old which exploring our home country and we would love to be an adovate was when I took her home and we have been together ever since to encourage Australia to become more pet friendly as we kind of lack a little bit in that department at the moment Afterwards What made you decide to travel the world together we would love to go on some smaller adventures to New Zealand This is actually a sad story A few years ago my father passed Japan and maybe one day Europe but right now these are only away very suddenly He was 63 years old we d been out for dreams 54

Serves 4 INGREDIENTS 400g pasta 450g tomato puree 3 4 cloves garlic 2 tbsp capers 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil 4 tbsp fresh parsley METHOD 1 Rinse and soak capers and crush the garlic cloves 2 Saut the garlic cloves with olive oil 3 Add tomato puree to the garlic clove mix and cook the sauce for 15 minutes on low heat 4 Add the capers and olives 5 Cook for another 5 10 minutes 6 Salt the water and cook the pasta until it is al dente 7 Toss the pasta with the puttanesca sauce and salt to taste 8 Serve and enjoy 60

BANANA OAT BLISS BALLS Serves 12 Ingredients 2 bananas 1 cup rolled oats 2 tbsp cinnamon 1 tbsp vanilla essence Handful of goji berries 200g dark chocolate 1 2 cup of coconut Additional coconut or almond flakes for rolling the bliss balls Instructions 1 Squash bananas in a bowl 2 Add the oats cinnamon vanilla essence goji berries and coconut 3 Chop up the dark chocolate and add this to the mixture 4 Wear a pair of gloves and combine the ingredients together 5 Roll mixture into small balls and coat these in coconut or almond flakes 6 When done eat them straight away or keep them in the fridge until they are firm 7 Serve and enjoy 61
