Cherilyn graduated from El Dorado High School in Albuquerque New Mexico where she helped lead the girls basketball team to 2 state championships she was also a member of 2 state champion soccer teams Coach Morris was named an AllAmerican out of high school and went on to play for the Washington Huskies in Seattle Washington transferring her sophomore year to Southern Nazarene University in Bethany Oklahoma While at SNU Coach Morris helped lead her team to 2 NAIA National Championships and was not only named to the Kodak All America Team but also voted the National Player of the Year twice by the Women s Basketball Coaches Association After graduation Coach Morris went on to play professionally in Malta and travel through Europe with Athletes in Action Cherilyn played for the Colorado Xplosion in the American Basketball League ABL She was a graduate assistant coach for her alma mater when they won a 3rd consecutive national championship and an assistant coach for Oklahoma Baptist University who finished in the Elite Eight Coach Morris received her Master s Degree in Education from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1998 She finished up her playing career in the National Women s Basketball League NWBL with the Kansas City Legacy in 2002 Cherilyn returned to coaching for the 2004 2005 season to lead the sophomore team at Clark High School for 5 years where they won 2 city championships She then moved up to Plano East to coach the Junior Varsity team for 5 years This is Cherilyn s 2nd year at the helm for the Lady Panthers In her first season she took over a struggling Lady Panther team that had previously produced a 0 10 district record and 4 24 overall record The Lady Panthers rose to 19 14 overall and 8 8 in district with an appearance in the Texas state basketball play offs in 2014 15 22

Meet Lady Panthers Assistant Coaches Coach Carven Holcombe a native of Houston Texas played his high school basketball at Jack Yates He was voted the Texas High School Player Of The Year in 1983 Coach Holcombe played college basketball for Texas Christian University He was the catalyst for the Frogs 1986 and 1987 Southwest Conference Championships His his four years at TCU he was named 1984 SWC Conference Player of the Year All Southwest Conference 1985 Southwest Conference Player Of The Year in 1987 The Cleveland Cavaliers drafted Holcombe in the 1987 NBA Draft and he played professionally in Europe for 7 years Before arriving at Plano East Holcombe coached at Greenhill School in Dallas for 6 years as a Girls Junior Varsity basketball coach His family consist of wife Debbie sons Carven Jr Sean daughters April Carmen and several grand kids Coach Holcombe graduated from Texas Christian University with a Bachelor Of Science in physical education I m thankful for the opportunity Plano East has given me I enjoy working with coach Morris and look forward to having a successful season Coach Erik Popplewell grew up outside of Houston in Katy TX He comes from a basketball background with his family being from the Hoosier State He played PG for the Katy Taylor Mustangs during high school and received his Bachelor of Arts degree at Texas A M University Coach Popplewell has a variety of coaching experience of all different levels both boys and girls He has served as the 7th Grade 8th Grade Freshman JV and Varsity Assistant coach throughout the last 8 years since earning his history degree in 2007 This past summer he married his wife Abbey and bought a house in the Plano area He enjoys playing and watching all sports and has recently dived into the age old quest of understanding women as his next challenge That along with 11 nieces and nephews is keeping him plenty busy in life 23

Coach Jeff Clarkson is in his 4th season as the head coach at Plano East Coach Clarkson is a 1994 graduate of Plano East and was a two year letter winner on the basketball team In his senior season he helped lead the Panthers to a Runner Up finish at the State Final Four in Austin After high school Coach Clarkson went on to play basketball at Collin County Community College 1994 96 and Tarleton State University 1996 98 where he graduated in 1999 Coach Clarkson began his coaching career as a graduate assistant for Tarleton State and received his Masters of Education in 2001 Coach Clarkson spent four years as an assistant coach at Naaman Forest and The Colony High School before getting the head coaching job at Naaman Forest in 2003 Coach Clarkson spent 9 seasons as the head coach at Naaman Forest leading them to 2 district titles 2008 09 2011 12 4 Bi District Championships 1 Region II Championship and a trip to the State Final Four in 2011 2012 Coach Clarkson was named District Coach of the Year in 2009 and 2012 while at Naaman Forest In Coach Clarkson s first year back at Plano East the Panthers won the District 10 5A Championship with a mark of 10 0 The Panthers ended the year as Regional Semi Finalists with a final record of 30 6 Coach Clarkson was named 10 5A Coach of the Year for the 2012 13 season In his second season the Panthers went 19 10 and finished District 10 5A Runner Up and Bi District Champions In his third year the Panthers finished 19 12 and finished tied four ways for the last playoff spot in district 6 6A The Panthers would come up one game short in the play in tournament and miss the postseason Coach Clarkson has been married to Tera for 11 years and has three children Trent 7 Malorie 5 and Macey who is almost 2 29

Meet Panthers Assistant Coaches Coach Greg Thomas is in his 20th year with PISD and his 15th as varsity assistant with the Plano East basketball program During this period the East program has managed 5 District Championships and 2 trips to Regionals Coach Thomas is a 1984 graduate of San Angelo Central High where he was a 2 sport letter winner in football and basketball His team also participated and advanced to Regionals the in both sports Following HS Coach Thomas accepted a football scholarship to the University of Arkansas where as Quarterback he led his team to 3 consecutive bowl appearances from 1985 1987 He Graduated in 1988 with a Bachelor Degree in Communications Coach Thomas has been married to Renee Thomas for 25 years They have 4 children Quiera Quinae Da Ray and Chauncey and 4 grandchildren Lenayea Kaiden Kiayh and Kayleigh Coach Matt Wester is in his fourth year as the Varsity Assistant Coach at Plano East In his twelve seasons coaching basketball Coach Wester has served in several different roles He has served as a Varsity Assistant coach in Lubbock at Trinity Christian School The two years he was there they won their district and played in the state championship games After moving to the metroplex he became a Middle School coach at Rice Middle School and Parkhill Junior High During his five years at Naaman Forest he served as a freshman coach and the JV coach While he was an assistant Naaman won two district championships appeared in the playoffs four times and made one final four appearance He is also the Certified Leader and program director for Upward Stars North Dallas Coach Wester played on two TAPPS final four teams in High School One of which was a state championship team He also played college basketball at Wayland Baptist University His degree came from Texas Tech University in 2004 He and his wife Micahl live in Dallas and have been married for thirteen years They have three children and expecting twins this April Levi is six Emery is three and Claire is two 30

Meet Panthers Assistant Coaches Coach Jason Hall is in his 17th year of coaching and is a graduate of Farmersville High School As a three year lettermen he helped the Farmers to three straight district championships and to three straight playoff berths His senior year he was named district MVP Sherman All Area MVP Greenville Dream Team MVP Greenville All Millennium team and 1st team All State After graduation Coach Hall attended East Texas State now known as Texas A M Commerce on a full athletic scholarship for basketball and also lettered as a member of the track team As a four year starter for East Texas State basketball team Coach Hall helped the Lions win the LSC Conference championship and led them to their first NCAA berth in school history Along the way Coach Hall was a two time unanimous selection for LSC All Conference the LSC Conference Defensive Player of the year the LSC Conference MVP the number one vote getter on the NCAA DII South All Region team and an All American candidate He still holds the single season steals record with 80 Coach Hall was inducted into the Texas A M Commerce Hall of Fame on October 4 2014 for his contributions to the basketball program He recently was informed that the team he led to the NCAA playoffs during his senior year has been selected to be inducted in to the Texas A M Commerce Hall of Fame in the fall of 2016 Plano East is Coach Hall s third school that he has coached at He also was an assistant coach at Farmersville and at South Garland High School When not coaching Coach Hall enjoys spending time with his wife Kari and his three boys Jason Jackson and Jamison He also enjoys participating in various sports and outdoor activities Coach Taylor House is in his 2nd year with PISD and the Plano East Basketball program Over the summer he married his wife Ashley House in Memphis TN He graduated Plano Senior High School in 2009 where he played both basketball and football After high school he attended Texas Tech where he graduated in 2013 with a degree in Health Exercise and Sport Science While at Tech he played with the practice team for the Texas Tech Lady Raiders At East he teaches English 3 31

Go Raiders BOWMAN MIDDLE SCHOOL 8TH GRADE Coach Cristen Marsh is in her 11th year of coaching basketball and her first year at Bowman Middle School Her previous experience includes time at varsity levels as well as seventh and eighth grade She has won two district championships in Carrollton ISD with undefeated seasons each year Her coaching experience also includes volleyball and track where her passion lies for teaching fundamental skills and watching young athletes grow She s excited about the 2015 16 basketball season and anticipates much success with her 8th graders She has taught history the first nine years of her career and has been placed in Physical Education this year She has thoroughly enjoyed her time in Plano ISD and at Bowman so far Go Raiders 7TH GRADE Coach Lora Barron Nunley is the 7th grade coach at Bowman Middle School This is her sixth year at Bowman MS She grew up in Lubbock Texas and attended Monterey HS Coach Barron Nunley was a four year lettermen in basketball and a three year lettermen in softball She played college ball at Lubbock Christian University Coach Barron Nunley enjoys watching basketball being outdoors dancing and spending time with family She lives in Plano with her husband Will 62 GIRLS BASKETBALL
