Pendragon Theatre The Next Stage for Downtown It s high time that Pendragon s transformational project takes center stage in our downtown district of breweries restaurants shops and galleries JIMMY WILLIAMS MAYOR SARANAC LAKE NY For 45 years Pendragon Theatre has been the backbone of theatre in the Adirondacks From the beginning we ve been dedicated to excellence community impact and inclusivity The current careworn facility limits our ability to bring in talent to bring in audience and to impact the economy of downtown With Pendragon Theatre The Next Stage for Downtown we aim to change that We aim to bring top notch theatre increase our economic impact and provide enrichment and entertainment to the community You can help ensure the future of Pendragon Theatre help attract and keep residents add jobs to the region attract visitors from a broad region and support local businesses all in an environmentally friendly way Goal 2 5M Inclusivity ACCESSIBILITY The new space is ADA compliant and is more accessible for people with disabilities beyond mobility because of the location ease of access openness design and programs for underserved populations COMMUNITY Our new state of the art space will be a place where visitors can gather in an arts public square regardless of race class creed religion or politics Friends and strangers can sit shoulder to shoulder laugh together cry together hold our breath together and cheer together during the great moments of theatre ahead

Community Impact ECONOMIC REVITALIZATION This campaign is part of a community vision greater than Pendragon Theatre This greater downtown revitalization effort has already started to transform the new area to draw visitors and support businesses creating a vibrant cultural hub and reinforcing the downtown redevelopment and streetscape improvement efforts 40 percent of respondents to a recent survey said they visit Saranac Lake specifically for arts and culture a metric that will grow with a new state of the art theatre and complementary community efforts YOUTH AND LIFELONG LEARNING By giving local youth the chance to explore the performing arts year round including productions for young people and the Young Playwrights Festival and through expanded partnerships with area colleges that will provide up and coming talent with hard tofind experience the new Pendragon will plant seeds that will bear fruit for years to come Children gain empathy and appreciation for others through participating in and viewing live theatre ENVIRONMENT Pendragon s planned construction enhances the environmental quality of the park through adaptive re use of an underutilized building in a priority section of town moving to a walkable location and with planned LEED silver certification Pendragon s primary supplier of electricity is Saranac Lake Community Solar a renewable energy utility serving Saranac Lake A credible costeffective plan to make the new Pendragon among the first organizations in the area to be carbon neutral in operations further underscores the distinctive environmental benefits of the project PARTNERSHIPS Modern theatre technology creates the opportunity for an educational partnership with NCCC and SUNY Potsdam creates capacity for music performances in cooperation with community partners and has a large space to accommodate a wide range of community events With community and donor support the new Pendragon Theatre has the potential to give veterans challenged by substance abuse the opportunity to fully engage in the healing vibrancy and operations of the theatre Excellence COMMITMENT TO QUALITY PRIDE AND RESPECT Pendragon has recently won 2022 Broadway World Awards for Favorite Theatre in Central New York Best Performance in a Musical and Best Lighting Design High quality productions have overcome the current space s limitations but cannot continue to do so This new space will garner respect from residents and visitors from across the region and beyond provide amenities consistent with the requirements of the Actors Union and be a comfortable environment Artists will have industry appropriate dressing rooms modern energy efficient back of house theatrical operations ADA compliant access a year round office and a heated shop The 125 150 seat theater will match the quality of the professionals on stage and audiences will have sufficient restrooms
