It’s hard to believe that the library has been running its Read ‘n’ Feed program for fifteenyears now. For a decade and a half, we’ve been feeding the residents of Green, Fall Creek, and Adams Townships every Thursday afternoon from the library’s food pantry. We feelgood about it. What we don’t feel good about is the fact that the need is growing. If you have the means to “Feed the Love” this February, please consider donating to Read‘n’ Feed. You can contribute a monetary donation or non-perishable food items such asheat-and-serve soup, tuna, peanut butter, oatmeal, boxed pastas, condiments, and cannedfruits and veggies. However you chose to donate, know that your contribution goes directlyto benefitting your neighbors. You see, that’s the really great thing about Read ‘n’ Feed. There are no administrative costsbecause we run it locally, right here at the library. All monetary contributions and fooddonations go straight to local residents, people you may even know. If you bring in a can ofgreen beans, we put that can on our pantry shelves. Come Thursday at 3:00 p.m., we openour pantry, and somebody will see that donated can of green beans, ready for the taking. That very can, the can you donated, goes into a shopping bag and then to a local householdwhere it will become part of dinner. It doesn’t get much more direct than that. So, Feed the Love this February. Not only will you make somebody’s belly full, but youwill also make your heart warm in knowing that you really made a difference. Monetary contributions to Read ‘n’ Feed can be made via cash, check, or in-person charge. Checks can be made out to the Pendleton Community Public Library. Food donations canbe dropped off at the library during regular operating hours, or placed in the exteriordonation slot located to the left of the library’s main entrance. Thank you for Feeding theLove this February!Lynn HobbsLibrary DirectorFROM THE DIRECTOR2
