WHAT OWNERS NEED TO KNOWThe Pukeko Rental Managers team receive regular resources, training and updates so they can ensure yourproperty meets CURRENT compliance requirements & they fully understand tenant and owner liabilities. Here are a few things all owners should know!The tenant is no longer liable for‘accidental’ damage. If tenants ortheir guests cause ‘careless orintentional’ damage in a rentalproperty, they will be liable for thecost of the damage up to four weeks’rent or the landlord’s insuranceexcess, whichever is lower. If it is‘malicious’ damage then they areresponsible for the full cost.10-year photoelectric smokedetectors are required within 3m of abedroom, one per every level andone in a sleepout.
