33 Elevate Adult Day Program is designed for adults ages 18 and older for individuals with disabilities who reside in the communities that Gateway SRA supports. Village of Hinsdale Elmhurst Park District Burr Ridge Park District Oak Brook Park District Pleasant Dale Park District Village of Countryside York Center Park District Westchester Park District Elevate a Gateway SRA Day Support Service program will provide a structured, 5 day a week, five hours a day, program for individuals with disabilities to transition from high school/transition center to adult life in the community. The program will utilize leisure education tools to teach skills real life recreation experiences and provide opportunities to transfer these skills successfully in the community. Gateway SRA’s transition process will assist participants in achieving their individual recreation goals. Participant’s abilities, interests and needs will be assessed. Goals will be established with both short term and long-term goals set for each individual. A plan will be developed to put the participant’s goals into place. Evaluation will occur on an ongoing basis for the program and the participants. Participant’s progress will be evaluated monthly. Everyone will be evaluated to determine their progress and their goals will be revised as needed. 36Park and Athletic Field UsageBurr Ridge Park District athletic elds and parks are available 365 days per year for general public usage when such facilities are not scheduled for District programs or authorized rental usages. Any group or individuals desiring exclusive use of a park site/facility can obtain a usage policy and application from the park District which contains all information regard-ing available facilities, rules and regulations, and fee schedules. Availability will be determined after seasonal programming needs have been met. For more information, contact us at 630-920-1969 or visit our website at www.brparks.org.When Must a permit Be issued?Small groups or individuals that do not require any special accommodations generally do not need a permit to visit the park and their access to the desired park facility is subject to availability at the time of the visit. Any group in excess of 15 people is required to obtain a permit. Groups of 15 people or more will be ejected from the park or facility without an authorized permit. Organized athletic or other high risk activities, activities utilizing rented or contractual services from private businesses, activities involving alcohol area few of the other activities requiring an authorized permit. although an authorized rental will receive exclusive usage of a facility during the approved time, at no time is the renter allowed to exclude members of the general public from utilizing the park’s other non-rented facilities during the time of their permit. Block parties and rental inquiries regarding non-listed outdoor facilities will be considered on a case by case basis.Outdoor Picnic Shelter RentalsThe Park District will make available for rental picnic shelters at the Harvester park Wetlands and Oak Grove Park. Both of these shelters have a capacity of 50 people. Again, all group gatherings of greater than 25 people will require an approved permit. Proposed improvements include four lit dedicated pickle ball courts, restroom, shade structure and seating, table games, golf putting green, parking lot and pedestrian entry/departure renovations, nature trail path loop and an interactive buttery garden. Estimated project cost are $800,000. If the project is awarded grant funding the state of Illinois will reimburse 50% of the project costs. Decisions are usually made in the month of January. If the application is successful, construction would be anticipated to start in the Spring of 2025 and conclude either in the Fall of 2025 or the Spring of 2026.Harvester Park NotesSummer was another banner year at Harvester Park as we head full steam into the Fall. Our community park consistently ranks as one of the best in Illinois and has been featured on public radio stations, wttw television, WGN television and a national public broadcasting travel show. In the last two years with the opening of the Rt.66 playground. Although crowded at times due to its tremendous popularity, the dozens of individual play elements and stations spread throughout the 37 acres oer many recreational options in all conditions. We hope to improve the park even further with the project discussed above in 2025.Community Center RentalsWho is Eligible To Rent the Burr Ridge Community Center?Only residents and businesses residing or located within the corporate boundaries of the Burr Ridge Park District are eligible to seek application for a private rental of the Burr Ridge Community Center. Burr Ridge Park District corporate boundaries do not include all of the Village of Burr Ridge.
