October 2020 Tishrei Cheshvan 5781 parksynagogue org 216 371 2244 facebook com parksyn From the President A MESSAGE FROM SUSAN RATNER As we end a most unusual year I thank all of you for the incredible support and sense of community every one of you have provided The High Holidays were a concrete demonstration of the spirit of our congregation from the clergy and staff to all of us joining together in an alternative form to celebrate our longstanding traditions in a unique way while still placing our highest emphasis on Jewish continuity Throughout the year I will be keeping you all informed on what is happening with our plans and our campaign for our future so this is the first of your regular updates in the new year Bellefaire JCB is completing their due diligence on the Cleveland Heights campus and will have an answer for us within the next couple of months and I will be updating you on that In the meantime our work on the new campus for Park Synagogue continues The architects are continuing to work diligently to incorporate feedback from all of you with emphasis on creating an accessible green and uplifting spiritual and user friendly environment including many of the details you have all suggested While of course the ability to do this is dependent on our campaign for the future we will be sharing the modifications in plans and keep you all updated on progress While synagogues are always dependent on philanthropy and while we have a most generous and supportive congregation this is a unique moment in the history of Park Synagogue It has reimagined its future two other times first in its original home in the inner city of Cleveland where the Jewish community was concentrated and again in Cleveland Heights as we moved to followed the migration of the Jewish community and where we have been for almost 70 years Now is another moment where we are putting all our hopes and dreams for the future in a new campus We have received thoughtful input from clergy staff and all of you about how our new home should look feel and function as we look ahead for another long stretch of time You have had so many creative and inspiring ideas for how to enrich that vision This could never happen without our lead gifts but we cannot possibly achieve that vision without everyone in the congregation stretching to contribute as much as they can This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to create a home and an endowment to support all the spiritual emotional and intellectual activities that make a house of worship a home A once in a lifetime gift is just that a different kind of support than you give all the time This is our opportunity to join together to create something new that honors our past and inspires our future and we need everyone joined together giving their utmost to make this happen We are coming to the close of our quiet campaign and are so appreciative of the gifts we have received so far We have come to the moment to ask all of you to join us as we reach out to the entire Park community for the support of everyone Together we can make this reimagination of the future a reality Susan Ratner Park Synagogue President susratner gmail com
