The Many Ways Park is Assisting Those in Need in our Community During the last several months through the generosity of Park members and using money from the Hunger Mitzvah Fund Park has helped those in need in our community in the following ways 300 to FLAG Front Line Appreciation Group to provide individually wrapped meals from local restaurants to thank front line hospital heroes nurses doctors and other staff servicing ER s and ICU s all who are attending to COVID patients Thanks to Park member Lori Raichilson for bringing this effort to our attention 1 170 each to the Cleveland Chesed Center and the Cleveland Kosher Food Pantry using donations from women who attended the High Holiday cooking demo with Chef Doug Katz 1 000 to the Cleveland Food Bank to assist their massive efforts to feed hungry people in our community 1 000 donation to the University Settlement given after Executive Director and Park member Earl Pike s talk at Shabbat services about the agency s projects and needs Seventy 25 Marc s gift cards were given to Jewish Family Service Association clients in need for groceries through Park s Operation Isaiah project Over 9 400 to Family Promise of Greater Cleveland to help homeless children and their parents through donations from Park s Superhero Chanukah Bingo event We had more than 100 registrations and distributed 320 Bingo cards A special thank you to those of you who made generous donations We hope everyone who joined us had a fun afternoon while doing a mitzvah at the same time 325 donation to the King Kennedy Boys Girls Club to help provide a holiday lunch for the children and teens who spend time there This special event was especially needed after the club lost two active teen members to gun violence in the past weeks Thanks to Park member Gayle Horwitz an active member of Moms Demand Action for suggesting this donation Holiday Adopt a Family Project Through US Together a Cleveland refugee resettlement agency Park members donated a car load of gifts and gift cards for 8 refugee families newly arrived from the Congo Ukraine and Syria A special thank you goes to Marcy Young for spearheading this project and to those who shopped for donated items Erin Chris Beard Jennifer Robby Boroff Katie Dennis Cahn Stephanie Kevin Cohen Stacie Kery Hutner Tiffany Daniel Kessler Cheryl Dan Kretch Alyson Kevin Kretch Bonnie Dan Marks Erin Scott Shuller Shelby Zach Siegel Jenna Dan Konstantinovsky and Marcy Ira Young Marcy Young left helps unload gifts that Olivia Randall of US Together is taking for refugee families Please remember when making donations to Park Synagogue that you can ear mark your contributions to the Hunger Mitzvah Fund or any other Park Fund All the money donated to the Hunger Mitzvah Fund is disbursed throughout the year to help people in need in our community March 2018 January 2021 Page 6 www parksynagogue org
