THE LITANYCLERGYThere are different gifts.CONGREGATIONBut it is the same Spirit who gives them.CLERGYThere are different ways of serving God.CONGREGATION But it is the same Lord who is served.CLERGYGod works through different people in different ways.CONGREGATION But it is the same God who achieves God's purpose throughthem all.CLERGYEach one is given a gift by the Spirit.CONGREGATIONTo use it for the common good.CLERGYTogether we are the body of Christ, CONGREGATIONAnd individually members of that body.

Page 7

THE LITANYCONTINUEDCLERGYThough we have different gifts, together we are a ministryof reconciliation led by the risen Christ.CONGREGATIONWe work and pray to make Christ's church useful in theworld.CLERGY We call people to faith, so that, in the end, every knee shallbow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, tothe Glory of God.CONGREGATIONWithin our common ministry, some members are chosenfor particular work as pastors, ministers, elders, deacons.CLERGYWe recognize these special ministries, remembering thatour Lord Jesus said:CONGREGATION "Whoever among you wants to be great must become theservant of all,CLERGYAnd if a person wants to be first among you, that personmust be the servant of all the people. ALLJust as the Son of Man came not to be served, but toserve, and to give his life to set others free.

CHARGE TO CANDIDATES“A man who wants to lead an orchestra must turn his back to thecrowd.”For more than twenty centuries across each generation thechurch has set aside some of her members for special trainingand preparation. The church elects such people to positions ofresponsibility not privilege. They are called to serve thedowntrodden and the disinherited. These servants may beapostles, deacons, evangelists, teachers or elders. They are calledto equip the saints for the work of the ministry, so that the bodyof Christ will be edified. Therefore, Roger Edmunds, Denver Brown, Lucus Sandiford toEldership. Ronald Murrell, Gabriel Mitchell, Victor Poleon,Francis DeCaille, will be publicly charged, ordained and releasedinto ministry on this day the 24th of March in the Year of OurLord, 2024 by the hands of Senior Pastor/Overseer, Gilford T.Monrose. If you concur, when appropriate, please respond, I accept.I charge you in the words of Rabbi Paul to be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, for asmuch as you know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord. So, donot seek to be more successful; seek to be more faithful. Nevertake as the aim of your life fortune or fame for neither can keepyou near the cross nor lead you to you to your destiny which isthe prize of the high calling from Jesus Christ. If you concur, please say, I accept.

Page 9

CHARGE TO CANDIDATESCONTINUEDI charge you to never build obstructions that keep out thefaces of the defeated or the cries of the marginalized for asyou do unto these you do unto Christ. Never ascend toohigh to visit those who are on beds of affliction or on cotsin padded prison cells for as you do unto these you do untoChrist. If you concur, please say, I accept.I charge you in the presence of God and of Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead, to preach the Word;proclaim a righteous and relevant Gospel in season and outof season. Correct, rebuke and encourage with greatpatience and through careful instruction. Listen to thoseyou serve (flock), work closely with them and pray forthem, weep and rejoice with them for they are your charge. As you do this, remember that pastoring is not finely tunedorchestration. Rather it is that calling that requires awillingness to accept the improvisational movement of GodIf you concur, please say, I accept.I charge you to never take for granted your family, yourhealth, or your personal relationship with God. It is yourfamily that bears you up as if on eagle’s wings in yourpresence and in your absence; their generosity helps makeyour work possible. Your health you must safeguard foryou know that your body is not your own, it is the templeof God and a dwelling place of the Holy Spirit. And it isyour personal relationship with God that feeds anddetermines all other relationships and it determines thehome going destination of your soul.

Page 10

CHARGE TO CANDIDATESCONTINUEDIf you concur, please say, I accept.I charge you to always give God your best and be original.God desires to do something significant through thischurch and through you in this season. God wants to workthough you. So, listen to God; even in the silences God stillspeaks. And do not expect scar-free ministry, for our risen Saviordid not obtain this fate. Do not expect a painless pastorate, for Jesus wept over Jerusalem. Do not expect that nonewill doubt, and none will betray, and none will be afraid foreach of these actions were shown by some who walkedwith Jesus in the flesh. But do know that this same Jesuspromised to be with you always, to never leave or forsakeyou. Let that be your greatest comfort. If you concur, please say, I accept.I charge you to always remember that this is not yourwork; it is God’s work! No matter how arduous the days, how exemplary your ministry, or how much you are lauded;this is not about you, this is God’s work. Also, remember,no matter how much it grows or contracts, swims with oragainst controversial cultural tides, this is not your church,it is God’s church. And last but not least, as you take up this mantle, remember that all of the gifts you have received to serveas a pastor and minister are not your gifts. They aredelicate divine deposits.

Page 11

CHARGE TO CANDIDATESCONTINUEDThey are the answers to knee-scarring prayers prayed onyour behalf. They are the lessons of teachers, theknowledge of colleagues, strangers, mentors and friends. If you agree to always remember these things, please say Iwill.Brothers, this is a service of personal dedication to yourtask. During these sacred moments will you consider a newparticular call of God that has come to you for this task, and will you allow God’s Holy Spirit to remind you of theDivine resources available to you for your work? Do yousincerely believe that you have been led by the Spirit ofGod to engage in this work and to assume itsresponsibilities? If you concur, please say, I do so believe. In humble reliance upon Divine grace, do you make it youraim to give yourself unreservedly to the work of God inthis office? If you concur, please say, I do, the Lord being my Helper.

“I charge you to never develop disdain for a congregant.Instead, fall in love with God’s people over and over andover again. Your vocation though also manifestedthrough sacramental acts is above all to spread the loveof Jesus Christ. Never tire of that vocation. And whenfaced with your greatest enemy, humble yourself enoughto love them and in this act of humility you will find greatstrength and victory. If you concur, please say, I accept. CLERGYDo you, the congregation, affirm these leaders?CONGREGATIONWe do.CLERGYDo you pledge to them your support and prayers?CONGREGATIONWe pledge to them our prayers, support and affirmation. CHARGE TO CHURCHThe sacred partnership between a congregation and itsministers are not happenstance but rather a holyarrangement orchestrated by an omniscient God. Thus, Iinvite you to joyfully and lovingly enter into thiscovenant with your new Elders and Ministers, realizingthat this moment in time was actually predestined ineternity, even before the foundations of the world wereestablished.I charge you to be a spiritual community of love.I charge you to eagerly accept the leadership of thebiblical eldership. Great leadership is dependent uponwilling and consistent “fellowship.”I charge you to regularly demonstrate love, care, andcompassion for the total well-being of your ministers andtheir families. To honor the minister’s family is to honorthe minister.

Page 14

CHARGE TO CHURCHFinally, I charge you to joyously embrace change andnever major in minor things. God has united you withyour ministers for the purposes of transforming thiscongregation, community, and even the world. Thus, donot waste God’s time in trivial pursuits. Worry less aboutthe church By-Laws and focus more on the Bible. Dreambig dreams for God and wait expectantly as Godtransforms dreams into reality. Always remember thatour God is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above allthat we can ask or think. Therefore, members of the Mt. Zion Churches of God 7thDay, on this day the 24th of March in the Year of OurLord 2024, I offer this charge to you.If you concur, please respond, “We accept.”Now unto the all-wise God, who loved us first, be glory, majesty, dominion, and power, forever and ever, Amen.
