SU TimesTheJUNE 2025BY STUDENTS FOR STUDENTS www.uosunion.org WE ARENUMBER ONE!This result means UOS Students' Union is now thetop SU in the East of England, according to WhatUnirankings.In total UOS won three awards, with the other twobeing for Lecturers and Teaching Quality, andStudent Support, and was awarded a silver award inthree further categories: Facilities, International,and Postgraduate.The WUSCAs is the only higher education awardsceremony in the UK where institutions are judgedand reviewed solely by students themselves throughstudent reviews. The SU chief exec Dionne Walton said: “The fact thatthese awards are voted for by students makes theaccolade of University of the Year even morespecial. We are proud to be central to theuniversity’s work, ensuring that the student voice isheard loud and proud.”The WhatUni Student Choicerankings have been released for2025, and we are delighted to saythat not only was the Universityof Suffolk awarded the covetedUniversity of the Year award, theStudents’ Union was named in thetop 10 SUs in the country.Dionne added: “This year also saw the Students’Union go up 12 places in the WUSCA rankings to be5th in the country which is a fantastic result, as wellas being top SU in the East of England. We were thrilled to haveUniversity Chancellor Prof. HelenPankhurst visit the Students'Union for a conversation aboutour recent student engagementactivities. These included theReclaim the Night march inFebruary, the SU elections, andan Iftar meal organised for someof our international students. Wereally appreciate the time shespent with us DEBUT FOR BAND &MUSIC SOCIETYThe brand new Band and Music Society debutedon the SU open air stage at the end of May.Making use of a raised area outside the SUSocial space, the band played a short gig, andwe hope this will be the first of manyperformances.If you’d like to join the society, and keep up withyour music while at uni, email society presidentAdam: s287112@uos.ac.uk
