Ourschool provides a holistic, student-centred education that allows every child torealise their full potential in a nurturing and supportive environment. Classrooms areresourced to maximise learning opportunities in ourearliest learners. SKILL DEVELOPMENTOur outdoor and indoor environments have beencarefully constructed to optimise studentdevelopment. A range of activities that promotefine and gross motor competencies are integratedinto the learning program. LITERACY & NUMERACY03Our Lady of Good Counsel School implements data-driven, high-quality literacy andnumeracy learning experiences for our students. Through the careful and consideredcollection of assessment information, teachers are able to effectively identify individualstudents learning needs and cater lessons specifically to each student. Regular, ongoing professional learning and discussion across the school ensures thatstudent learning is analysed and a continuum of learning is developed. Evidence basedprograms, that have proven success in improving and maximising literacy and numeracyoutcomes are implemented across the primary school. SPECIALIST SUBJECTS04JAPANESEStudents from Kindergarten to Year 6, engage inweekly Japanese language lessons with ourspecialist Language teacher. VISUAL ARTStudents from Kindergarten to Year 6 participatein weekly Visual Art lessons, where they developskills in both art response and creation. OurAnnual Art Exhibition provides an opportunity forstudents to showcase their artwork to familiesand the broader community. PHYSICAL EDUCATIONStudents from Pre-Kindy to Year 6 engage in aweekly Physical Education lesson, with our PESpecialist Teacher. A range of sports are offeredto students, with opportunities to participate inour school and interschool Athletics andSwimming programs. SPECIALIST SUBJECTS05MUSICA general Music program exposes students fromKindergarten to Year 6 to the elements ofmaking and responding. Students are providedwith performance opportunities throughout theyear. LITERACY & NUMERACY INTERVENTION To ensure all students are catered for andprovided with equitable learning opportunities,the school utilises assessment data to identifyany student requiring additional support in tehareas of literacy and numeracy. Targetedindividual or small group intervention sessionsare provided by specially trained interventionteachers. GIFTED & TALENTED EDUCATION Identified students will be offered a place in ourschool's Gifted & Talented program, designed toprovide an opportunity to think collaborativelyand creatively, and extend students lateralthinking abilities. EXTRA-CURRICULAR06RUNNING CLUBLed by our Physical Education Teacher, Running Club operates eachweek before school. The aim is to increase students fitness, runningform and participationin physical activity. Open to all year levels. SWIMMING LESSONS Swimming lessons are conducted on an annual basis for students inYears 1 to 4. There are opportunities for students to undertakecomnpetitive swimming in our in-house and interschool swimmingcarnivals. In conjunction with Surfing WA, Year 6 students undertake a series ofsurfing lessons at Trigg Beach. EXTRA-CURRICULAR07CHESS CLUBOpen to students in Years 1 to 6, Chess Club teaches thefundamentals of the game of Chess. There are opportunities forstudents to engage in Chess Tournaments against neighbouringschools. TOURNAMENT OF MINDS An International program that provides students with the opportunityto solve authentic, open-ended challenges that foster creative,divergent thinking, whilst developing collaborative enterprise,excellence and teamwork. Students from Year 1 to Year 6 are invited to participate in our SchoolChoir. RELIGIOUS EDUCATION09At Our Lady of Good Counsel School, the Religious Education Programme aims to sharethe Catholic faith by promoting knowledge and understanding of the Gospel, and of howthose who follow Christ are called to live this Gospel.Our Religious Education programme is based on the Perth Archdiocesan ReligiousEducation Units set down by the Catholic Education Office. To further faith development,students participate in Christian life and are encouraged to be involved in Christian lifeand service where they can express their faith through the celebration of prayer, liturgysocial justice initiatives and the sacraments.Our Lady of Good Counsel School provides the opportunity for students to participate inParish Masses, and Class Masses. Whole School Masses are held on special days ofcommemoration.Sacramental PreparationThe proper preparation of children who are to receive the sacraments is essential to staff,parents and Parish. Children are prepared for the Sacrament of Penance in Year 3, theSacrament of Eucharist in Year 4 and for Sacrament of Confirmation in Year 6.ParishWe are linked to the Karrinyup/Innaloo Parish and have a close and active relationshipwith Parish Priest, Fr Bernard Lanarolle. Families are provided with opportunitiesthroughout the year, to attend a variety of Parish events and build their connection to theParish. www.olgc.wa.edu.au

APPLICATION FOR ENROLMENT FORMPlease complete the Application for Enrolment form and submit tothe school with any necessrya documentation, in person or viaemail to admin@olgc.wa.edu.au 2.ENROLMENT INTERVIEW You will be contacted by our Enrolments Officer to arrange anenrolment interview with the school Principal. At least 1 parent /guardian and the enrolling child, must attend the interview. 5. ORIENTATION Prior to commencement, new students will be invited to attend anOrientation session. The purpose of this session is to enablestudents to familiarise themselves with their new classroom andteacher, and ease any uncertainties about their commencement. 3. ENROLMENT FEE Following a successful interview and subsequent offer of place atOur Lady of Good Counsel School, families will be required to pay aFamily Enrolment Fee to hold the position. 4. WELCOME PACK Families will receive a Welcome Pack that provides all thenecessary information for a successful transition into our schoolcommunity.
