Xylazine, also known as“Tranq,” is a powerful sedative that hasinfiltrated the drug market. It istypically used as a veterinary largeanimal tranquilizer, but it has begun tobe mixed into other drugs and has beendetected in a growing number ofoverdose deaths. This drug is oftenreferred to as a zombie-drug becauseof its damaging effects to humantissue that can lead to infections andeven amputations. It presents a greaterdanger than fentanyl because it isresistant to Narcan, which is used toreverse the effects of an opioidoverdose. The frequency of youthunknowingly consuming drugslaced with fentanyl and Tranqamong other life-threateningnarcotics is increasing in theCity of San Diego. After her motherdied in 1905, she established Mother's Day to honormothers' devotion to their children. Jarvis organizedthe first formal Mother's Day celebration in a churchin West Virginia in May 1908, with financial assistancefrom a Philadelphia department store owner. Moreover, thousands of people attended a Mother'sDay event in one of his Philadelphia retail stores onthe same day. Jarvis intended to place her first-everMother's Day on the national calendar once it was asuccess. She sparked a massive backlash by statingthat American holidays were tailored aroundmasculine achievements. In a mailing campaign tonewspapers and prominent politicians, sheadvocated for establishing a special day to honormothers. Mother's Day has become a yearlycelebration in several states and religions by 1912. Tofurther her cause, Jarvis established the Mother's DayInternational Association. Her perseverance wasrewarded in 1914 when US President Woodrow Wilsonformally declared Mother's Day a national holidaycelebrated on the second Sunday in May.
