What we got up to during October Half Term

of 0
Once again Chance Camp returned for the October half
term break for a week filled full of sports activities. We
started the week at Netherhall Sports Centre for 2 days
of tennis followed by 3 days of invasion sports at Cocker-
mouth RUFC. As with previous camps, the mornings
were filled with lots of learning and developing physical
and social skills. During the tennis camp we spent a lot of
time developing forehand and backhand technique. This
was to make sure the children had the correct grip and
swing, allowing them to improve their rallying skills.
During the invasion sports camp the children were
tasked to improve their ball skills when throwing/ catch-
ing (hands) and passing/ controlling (feet). Those skills
were then implemented into a series of different competi-
tions and challenges in the afternoons. During the first 2
days the children competed in a squash and mini Wim-
bledon Championships and at Cockermouth we had a
handball, touch rugby and football tournaments.
As always the children that attended the camps worked
really well with each other and made great progress in
developing their sport skills. We also received great feed-
back from both children and parents, with our parent re-
views increasing from the camp!
